  1. Hi All, I had my interview May 15th and was approved, but have not received my green card and the app still says “scheduled for interview”. When I called they said it’s taking 30-60 days for green cards but I’ve noticed others are receiving their green cards within a couple of weeks and I’m coming up on 60 days without anything.  Wondering if anyone else is having this problem or if anyone knows another thread that could help. Thanks!

@manful my interview got rescheduled! Had a stressful day on April 16th, as I went to check my status online for no specific reason and then saw "Interview cancelled and notice mailed". Freaked me out a little. Then the next day, April 17th, I checked again and it said "Interview scheduled". Soooooo.... I got the cancellation letter yesterday (cancelled due to "unforeseen circumstances"), but am still waiting for the new interview letter. I called USCIS today, and it's been re-scheduled to May 23rd. Bummer, but 2 weeks later isn't too big of a deal.

Is yours still on for May 15th?

I'm so sorry to hear you got rescheduled! Glad you didn't have to wait too long for another date. We had our interview this past Wednesday. It went well and we got approved on site. The one thing that was stressful was the security line to get into the building took over an hour. It stated on our interview letter that we should arrive 30 minutes before but no earlier. I would suggest arriving an hour before, we ended up being 20 min late to our interview. As soon as we went up to the USCIS waiting room, we were the second person to be called. The questions were easy, birthday dates, wedding date, how we met, date of last US arrival. Hope that helps and good luck on your interview this week!

@manful got my letter today! Interview on Monday May 13th. Interesting/weird that you got the interview scheduled notice and letter earlier than me, but that your interview is 2 days later. So for me it's exactly a month from receiving letter till interview date.

What time is yours? Mine's at 8.15. Ugh! Had hoped for an afternoon appointment (if they even have those - I saw office closes at 3pm). I'm ugh-ing, because the website/page of the office states that they are having troubles with the security clearance thing, so that you have to come an hour early. With LA traffic we'll have to leave on time anyway, but this is going to be even earlier... Oh well, suppose it's for a good cause eh? 🤔

Yay! Congrats! Those dates are weird, wonder if they approve and send out in batches with different dates?

Oh man, 8am is brutal, especially if you have a ways to drive in. So sorry! I am not a morning person, so I feel for you. Our interview is at 10am and we live just up the street. Luckily I've been saving a personal day off at work just in case I needed it. Good to know we should arrive early for security, thanks for that head's up! Keep me posted on how it goes and good luck! So happy this is almost done (for awhile...).

I honestly had no idea what "city proper" meant, so I had to google that. I thought you'd made a typo 😂 But yes, LA proper is LA County/the LA County Field office. So I'll have my interview at the same location!

And thanks for that info. Hubby and I are going on a one week trip starting April 24th, so we should be totally fine!

Re medical, yeah... they recently changed the rules. I think I copied them here a while back. And while that seemed to be for new applicants, I've read multiple stories of people not having to re-do it (also some people a couple comments above here).  My medical is from Feb 2018, so more like a year and 3 months since. Medical is reviewed by IO before/during interview. If they require you to get a new one, you'll hear about it then. You can be tentative-approved, pending a new medical.

I really hope to not have to do a new one either, but I'm not stressing about it. One step at a time :)

But yes, let me know how it goes!

Ha! Sorry, meant I live in Los Angeles city, near downtown, sorry for the confusion! Thanks for the medical info, I was worried we would need to do it before if I got the dates wrong. Glad to hear they will let us know at the interview. Fingers crossed. I will post once we've done the interview to let you know how it goes. I had to order another birth certificate as I sent my other one to Switzerland for registration there but other than that I think we have everything they asked for in the letter. Good luck and it's so nice to see others getting their dates as well. Love visa journey for its camaraderie!

😮 ! That was really quick! I filed in June, case ready for interview since July 24th. No answer yet. Are you in LA County specifically?

EDIT: I was grumbling to hubs because of your case, then I just went to check my case status. Last update from today; interview was scheduled today! So now I have to wait for letter and interview date too. YAY! I believe the interviews are generally a month out. Hubs and I have a trip planned as well, but with a month notice, we should be ok.

Congrats! So glad you got a notice too! It was so much earlier than expected, in our notice it indicated the original date of application of August 1st. I got our letter today, 5 days after the app notified me and our interview date is May 15, exactly 6 weeks from the app notification date. Hope that helps! We are in LA city proper so our interview is in downtown LA. I will keep you posted on how the interview goes. I'm mostly concerned about the medical since it will be almost exactly 1 year old by the time of our interview. Hopefully we won't have to do another one, there was no indication of that in our letter.

EAD/AP Approved on the 18th, received the combo card in the mail yesterday, so it's been exactly a week! I've already started applying to jobs and have already been in touch with a couple recruiters. Yay!

Me!  And yep - the LA office is a long wait, because it's one of the busiest, if not busiest office. My case has been "ready for interview" since July 24th, we'll see how long till I get the interview date.

Here's a thread with more people:

Great! Thank you! It's good to know you got your EAD/AP approved, congrats! I will follow the thread, sad to think it will take so long until the interview but good to know there are others going through it.  Guess LA is just TOO big, I was born and raised here and happy to be a Californian even if we have to wait awhile.

  7. Hi Everyone, happy to join the group, filed late July but USCIS received August 1, with I485,I765 and I131 received on August 6. Received all hard copies in the mail today and biometrics scheduled for 8/29. Fingers crossed the employment and travel docs come through before December, were really hoping to go overseas at xmas :( but it looks like the estimated date will be after that. Good luck to everyone! Looking forward to sharing our waiting experiences together!

wow that’s quick, i’ve been waiting for mine since May 22. It’s going to be 2 weeks on tuesday. I wonder if its okay or if it’s normal coz im in the provincial side. the only way for me to check is sending email, then it’ll send automatic reply “no available status” or through 2go etrace then it says “invalid” which means they haven’t received it.

Are you waiting for your visa? My fiancé picked it up at the embassy instead of having it mailed and the marriage license we did online and just need to go to the Recorder's office to pick it up in person once he's here. As for the SSN I think we'll wait a couple of weeks since we aren't planning on marrying until the end of June. Good luck on your wait, fingers crossed you get what your waiting for very soon!

I agree with @K1visaHopeful, it is best to do before marriage. Just a heads up though, even though you don't have to wait two weeks after US entry to get the SSN like the instructions on here say (those instructions outdated, your arrival should be in the system immediately these days), do wait as long as you can if you're planning to marry soon after arrival (but still before marriage of course). I entered on 5/24/2018 and went to the Social Security Administration office on 5/29/2018 and my arrival was NOT yet in the SAVE database. So they had to do a manual verification, which can take a month or more. So like I said, if you want to marry within two weeks of entering, still try and wait as long as you possibly can before the marriage to avoid my situation :) I really wanted that SSN sooner!

Good to know! thank you! We are marrying at the end of June due to my parents flying in for the wedding so we can wait 2 weeks no problem. I think we'll do that just in case.

  10. We got our visa in hand today (approved on Tuesday). Wondering what the next steps are before marriage. I saw someone say we should go to the Social security office after he arrives in the states to register? This isn't on the list of steps in the K-1 guide. Anyone know anything about this? We're all set to pick up our Marriage license as soon as he arrives (next tuesday).  And then on to the next set of paperwork once we're married....

  11. Just wanted to post that my fiancé went for the medical and they made him go to another doctor to get his eyes checked (he wears glasses) and this put us back several days! Now we are just waiting around for his medical to get approved, after the eye doctor said he was fine, even though everything else is in order. It's really frustrating as we thought he would just go get the medical and then be able to forward the medical that day to get our interview. It's really ridiculous to have to go to another doctor for an eye check and they charged him $800 for a rudimentary, ridiculously outdated medical check (the doctor had him stand across the room and she whispered words he had to try to make out just to check his hearing, is this 1950? what kind of medical check is this?) I'm embarrassed he has to go through this just to marry me! The US embassies should seriously vet their doctors better in other countries. Frustrated to say the least.....but thought others might benefit from the experience. If you aren't 20/20 bring your eye prescriptions!

  12. March 29th NOA2 approval, called the NVC today and they just received our case. According to the others seems like the case number is assigned within a week (the NVC lady said up to 8 weeks!). Wondering when I should call back to get the case number?

Also, any Swiss applicants who have already received their packet know any specific items we should have for the interview outside of the forms, evidence of continuing relationship, financial evidence (bank, tax forms, employer letter). I have checked the embassy website and emailed them but didn't get anything specific. My fiancé is here but leaves to go back May 1 and I want to make sure he has everything to take with him. Thanks for your help in advance!

are u the swiss or the petitioner? :)

yes of course, feel free to follow our timeline!

sadly - still no case number!

i called at 2am aka 8 pm their time, and still nada. at least i had daphne on the phone who i never

had on the phone before! lol it's just frustrating to see they got the case on 23rd, and i read that someone had the noa2 on 20th, nvc got it 30 and assigned same day. stuff like that is what makes me more frustrated.

i know they don't follow a strict structure on processing in order, but as a swiss and following strict guidelines and be fair and all that stuff,

this is hard to swallow... and i knoooow it can take up to 8 weeks and blablabla - and this is not to panic or have someone else feel it's wrong

    to wait for weeks...

i have a good to do list for distraction so i keep doing all these million little things (not K1  related) that help get through the days now.

it's the circumstances that make everything hard. you (or your partner) as a swiss will understand, we have the 3 months notice periods in this country

for everything so we had to pick a date last year when to quit job/apartment and that's the hard part right now. knowing i moved out of my

home that used to be my comfy spot (end of jan) and i quit my job due to the location where my family stays (2 hour travel per way). so

working 10-13 hours daily with all the responsibility and challenges, and now coming down from 100 to 0 is crazy.... for body and soul.

but we're almost there, that's why the to-do list i created will help to get through the next few weeks ;)

Sorry it took me so long to reply! Crazy work week!

I am the American, my Swiss fiancé is here right now luckily, actually we are baking zopf right now :)

Hope since you wrote you have received your NVC case number (I'll run through the boards to see). I am going to call the NVC next week, it's actually nice to have a week off of looking at the site. My fiancé does freelance work so he has a flexible schedule, I can imagine the 3 months notice would be very hard in light of the crazy delays we've had to go through this year. He flies back on May 1 and we are hoping he will get his interview and medical done then and hopefully fly back right after. Hope this goes quickly for you and you're new comfy spot is right around the corner. Thank you for your feedback, I'll keep you posted on my end too if anything changes, that would be funny to have an embassy interview at the same time, but I'm hoping you have it way before us!

good morning guys! i hate to say, but noa2 was march 12, nvc receied friday 23, and still - no case number yet!

i spoke to a new person yesterday and nothing... :(

i know it's around the corner - but this is beyond frustrating now as i know it's sitting there!

and i know some people had the case assigned the same day it arrived...

but let's keep hoping that monday is our day then

Any news on your NVC case number? Fingers crossed you get it soon. It's nice to be able to follow your timeline since you're just ahead of us and from Switzerland! I'm dying to know what documents they want, I just keep collecting the financial stuff just in case. Good luck and I hope you don't mind my lurking around your timeline :)

It's sometimes embassy specific but I think those are the main documents for affidavit.

maybe additionally, w2s, bank statements etc (but these are just examples so definitely check your embassy's website)

*I've got that ball rolling for months non-stop 😂😂😂

Ok great! Seems too easy, all of those things are available online, I feel like they usually ask for things that are almost impossible to get. Woohoo! Thanks again for your help! I will now start accumulating another round of paperwork....
