Wow!  You and I have much different definitions of "Rude"........I agree with @ineedadisplayname about comparing offices......

I don't think i was rude. But if u felt like it I am sorry. Btw  if you would have known that, you would not be complaining about that others received thier GC in this group and you didn't.....

Apologize to y'all if you think I was the one rude. We're here to support and help each other and I'm sorry if I was rude

so I actually learned couple of things on the infopass that I'd like to share (Maybe y'all already knew, but I didn't know):

So when your "case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" it doesn't mean that it's in your local office. It's still at the NBC or Texas I guess depending on where you're applying from.
Your local office will ask for an amount of cases for that day or week to conduct the interviews. That's when the NBC will send that certain amount of cases to your local office.
So the officer who talked to me was able to see my case from the computer and say it's not in the local office yet, it's in the line to be sent, but he didn't have access to what "position" I am in that line.
He also gave me an estimate of when my interview would probably happen. He said July, cuz that's how long it's taking in my office (Way better information than: between 10,5 months and 22 months provided by the uscis website)
I asked about the medical examination because I see a lot of k1s retaking the exams after it expires. However both the officers I talked today said that the k1 examination won't expire, what might happen is that your doctor back in your home country might have put that's incomplete. in which case they'll ask you to retake it. That actually made me wonder if mine is complete, I hope so, but I guess I won't be retaking any exams before the interview.
Anyway, hopefully that was helpful to someone.
They were very polite and nice, and not at all disrespectful! I was glad to know they didn't just repeat whatever the website/app or call service says.

You cannot compare AOS times just looking at random ppl. You need to find somebody with the same local office as you....

Unfortunately the time between different offices can be 10+ months or more....

The infopass most likely won't help you. Will be surprised if  they are actually going to tell you more than you already know or could obtained from the helpline...

Let us know how it goes.

I know that, no reason to be rude. My office is quite small compared to some others. Therefore the amount of data available in this forum is not as exciting as some other offices. I've been using a lot of the fb group to try adding info I see here and there. It's quite annoying to have to private message people and be completely ignored though. You never know whether the person got their interview or if they are just not using this forum anymore.
The only reason why I scheduled the infopass is because every time I looked at the appointments there were TONS of times available. I don't feel like I'm taking anyone's place that really needs to go, cuz you can literally schedule 3 days of the week in different times.
I'm sure they won't tell me anything new, but at least I'll feel like I'm doing something any not just waiting here. Besides I'm waiting to start a new job, so I got some time available to do this right now. If they do tell me something we all didn't know I'll let you know

mine just change this morning..  interview was scheduled.. took 5 days only... with rfe here ugh..

congrats!! New Orleans is a fun city, but boy is the USCIS slow here?! URGH! hahaha
I actually scheduled an infopass, cuz believe it or not there's always appointments available, unlike Houston or other busy cities.
It probably won't help me and they'll say what's in the website, but hoping to at least know whatever piece of extra information they give me.
kinda frustrating cuz I read like three pages back in this thread and everyone seem to have their interviews scheduled here already.

i guess im the only july filer here don't have gc yet lol...  😥 by the way... RFE here and they just receive our papers that they need😕.. now waiting time again and nervous.. ugh...

nope, we're still here! hahaha! Don't worry, there are some offices that are really fast, but I guess we're not in those offices hahaa

Best of luck with the RFE!

  5. Trying to catch up with all the posts. Congrats to those who got their interview scheduled!
Seems like some offices are going fast now. Any New Orleans filer here? So hard to find people from my office. The last person I talked to that had their interview scheduled in my office was an April 2018 filer, hopefully they're actually in April, and not still in 2017 as there are many people who might still be waiting for interview or just haven't updated their timelines here on VJ!
    Happy new year y'all!

    Hey everyone,

I got this letter in the mail today for my wife's Feb 5 interview.

I had a quick of question for everyone here.

The letter states that the applicant needs to bring "your Government issued photo identification, such as a driver's license or ID card, in order to enter the building and to verify his/her identity at the time of the interview". Now, correct me if I'm wrong here, but her foreign passport is the best thing to show for this, right? Seems like a dumb thing to get caught up on, but if we appear to this and they're looking for a  US state ID or driver's license. I can go ahead and point at this letter and say that it DOES NOT say that, right? A passport is issued by the government of the country she came from, her picture in it, and even her signature. Hence, its an identification.

bring both? If she's got both I'd bring them all just in case.

  7. Hi Y'all! I got my EAD approved last Wednesday.

First I had the status "New card is being produced" and one day later both the forms i765 and i131 had "case was approved" status on the website. Today I got the approval letters but no sign of the actual card. My status in the app and website continue the same: "Case was approved". How long should I take to get the actual card?

I saw that most people the card within a week, so got all excited, but now I'm worried because the status hasn't changed to: "Card was mailed" yet.

    Thanks!

Oi! Hey there, my home town is near New Orleans. I was actually thinking of changing our address from VA/DC to NOLA in hopes of getting an interview sooner. But seems like you're in the same boat as us here. The VA information on VJ is slim unless its in regards to citizenship. So I'm kind of in the dark as to when things will move or if we'll get an interview. Just mentally hoping for christmas. But in the meantime there's plenty to do in New Orleans to keep busy. Its my favorite city in the world and I've been a lot of places. Enjoy! I miss it.

heey! that's cool your home town is new New Orleans! If the timeline somehow gets faster I'll let you know! There's plenty to do here, you're right! It's a great city to live 😃

    :rofl::rofl:
We have a thread for Houston- where we all come every week to complain and sip wine. lol

    It's not moving whatsoever
We had some folks do infopasses and basically it seems something hit a snag and nothing is moving
Literally EVERY SINGLE VJ folks from April 2017 onward is waiting.
Because Houston is also short staffed. they apparently only have 12? officers??

I think we're all just waiting for mid-elections to pass. Maybe something will get done there. Am not holding my breath
I'll be happy with my 10 year GC card in 2 years and pass ROC. lol

hahaha. I wish New Orleans had a thread so I could complain as well! hahaha We're close tho! I've lived in Houston before! How did y'all find out about the 12 officers? hahaha I want to FOIA the office here and get some questions answered! New Orleans is a pretty strange, inconsistent office. There's not enough data on VJ to try to understand what's the average time people are getting their interviews scheduled.

  10. hey everyone! I try to read this thread every day! I wish my office was fast like Indiana and South Carolina. My office is New Orleans and it's pretty slow. =/

My case is ready to be scheduled for an interview for a month now, but still waiting!

Glad to see people are following this thread. I also felt like k1 threads were more active, haha! Good luck to everyone, hope you have an amazing afternoon! If there's any new orleans applicants let me know!

    MAINE

Portland - Sept. 2, 2016 - Successful, early and at a different location. My husband (beneficiary) and I moved to Maine a few weeks after filing for AOS, but our appointment was for the Brooklyn, NY office. We had the biometrics letter overnighted to us, and also brought along copies of our AR-11 to show we had moved and the marriage certificate for change of name (we both changed names). We got to the Portland field office during the lunch hour from 12-1pm. Security guard let us in, was very nice, and friendly. We told him our appointment was scheduled for a week out, in Brooklyn, he said "no problem, we'll take care of you." The woman at the window was happy we brought all the documentation that we did. She joked with my husband that he would have been waiting a lot longer in Brooklyn. There was only one other customer there, we were in and out within minutes once the staff returned from lunch. They stamped and signed the original letter and gave it back to us.

    MARYLAND

Baltimore - April/2013, told guard I will have oral surgery couple days before appointment & will be very swollen/bruised, she asked for supporting documents which I provided. Denied walk in. Was told I could come the day of if I was feeling well enough or after appointment date but not before.

Wheaton - told Security guard I was not going to be in State on the day. Yes

Wheaton - July 2012, asked why could not make appointment, said attending wedding. Successful(out in 10 minutes).

Wheaton - Dec 27, 2013 - Told guard we had an 01/07/14 appointment in Baltimore but had a dr. appointment the same day. He passed us on through. The gentleman who we talked to gave us a lecture about going to the wrong place, that people would be waiting for us on the appointed day, that it wasn't fair to them, etc, etc. - but then said he would allow it this time but to do all other appointments on the scheduled date at the right office.

    MASSACHUSETTS

Boston - I took my wife for her scheduled biometrics appointment on 1/14/14. In an effort to get some info for this thread I asked the woman at the front desk if they allow early walk-ins, this was her reply: "It depends on what the reason is. If you legitimately need to come at an earlier date they will allow it, but if you just walk in for no apparent reason, they may not."

Boston - Tried to do early walk in for my appointment in Lawrence, told them I worked in Boston and would have to take time off to go to Lawrence. They asked me if I couldn't make it on the original date, I said I could, just didn't want to take time off from work. They told me I'd have to come back on the day of my appointment, but I could do it in Boston. Still waiting to go back. - Not successful.

Boston - I missed my 01/08/2016 appointment due to the info getting to me too late (got it on 01/11). Called USCIS helpline, was told to either try a late walk-in or send paper in to Virginia to get a new appointment (wait time about a month *ahhh*). Showed up at Center today (01/12/2016) with letter and ID, manager came over to sign off on late slip and let me in no problem. There at 8:45am, back out at 9:30am, not bad at all and ALL DONE.

Boston - 08/01/2016. Success! Stopped by at 2:30pm - 30 mins before closing, there were just few people waiting, security didn't even asked for a reason why I'm there 11 days earlier, let me in. While seating and filling the paper - the supervisor approached me and politely asked for a reason why I came in early - I explained my situation that my spouse has a court hearing the same day and time like my original appointment and I have to be there (it's true). He just smiled back and I was done in 10 mins. Very nice and kind people working there!

Lawrence - did an early walk in 3 weeks before my appointment. Just asked politely if it was ok as I was in the area that day anyway. They couldn't have been nicer. Done and on my way home in less than 25mins! Was quite anxious beforehand as I'd heard bad things about Lawrence. But they were all friendly and really nice and accommodating.

Lawrence - 05/08/14 - Went one day early, they commented that it was supposed to be the next day, no questions. Successful. Should've tried there first instead of Boston - MUCH better office.

    MICHIGAN

    Detroit 07/29/14 SUCESSFUL

-We arrived about 245pm security only asked for identification and where we were going. The clerk in ASC was more difficult initially when she looked at our appointment she said why are you here so early (appt scheduled for 08/14/14) I explained my wife is pregnant and due any day she said well we had a power outage yesterday I don't know if we will be able to get you in ( only 2 people were waiting for someone) so she went to ask her supervisor when she returned handed me the clipboard and stamped our I -797 and said I can't guarantee it but fill out this form so as soon as I finished filling the forms they called my wife and son back about 15 minutes in total.

The biometrics letter appointment will only list the i485 and i765 cases, so don’t freak out. You can ask the officer when you’re there to check up on your name and make sure everything is correct.

You can try an early walk in but it’s never guaranteed. I’d try sooner rather than later so if anything goes wrong you still have time to reschedule either the appointment or whatever you’re doing that day.

    good luck

I figured out the part about the bar codes for only two of the forms, but it was too late to edit! thank you so much though!!!!! =)))
I'll try to go there this week!

  13. Hey! I'm adjusting my status from a k1 visa, I also filed for a work permit and advance parole. The thing is that when I got my receipts for all three forms, my I131 NOA had a misspelling. The last letter of my last name was incorrect. So I called USCIS right away and they said they'd fix it. I checked my case status on the website, but nothing changed.

Today I got a letter scheduling my biometrics appointment. In the letter they only put the numbers for the form 1-485 and for my I-765. It's like I didn't file for my I-131!!! They also scheduled on a day that I'll be out of the state, in the middle of nowhere. Is it possible to try a walk-in?

Has anyone experienced any of that?

    Thanks

Oh I see. I hope you get it very soon. I don't know if we have to wait for an email to schedule the interview or the medical here in Brasil. I thought once we had the case# and it said 'ready' we were good to go.

I also have no idea what we need for medical here in Brazil. We spend so much time waiting for noa2 that now everything seems overwhelming!
