  1. If you talked to them before about your address or something, maybe someone just thought they would send you the address change form, Just in case?

Also I think they would tell you on that status thing that the mail to you was undeliverable.

Also since its being sent overseas it might take a little longer.

Yes hopefully the document you're waiting for does not delay anything. But can't say for sure until you see the document.

    Good luck!

This is too complicated for me. The name change is usually a government document right? So I don't understand why they would accept a personal affidavit for the name change.

But then again you are dealing with the US embassy Indian consulate so they are probably aware of screw ups of birh dates and names. So basically I have no clue. Its probably better to get responses from people who have dealt with the consulate in India.

If India can give her a corrected Birth certificate it would be ideal,

    Good luck!

  2. We Called USCIS and informed them that we didn't request to change address; and they told us they will send us to 2nd tier of custumer service but unfortunately they have call back system and since we are calling from outside US our phone cannot be called back;

we ask Question about what if we ignor the document we recieved about changing address and they told us yes we can (i hope she is right); don't know when the case status will change in USCIS and i hope there will be no delay due to this document that mailed to us

  3. Hi Again;

We just received the Document that we request to change Address and we have fill AR11 form ,,, but we didn't request any change for the address !!!

    The thing about our case that my wife (USC) is living with me outside US and we put in I-130 form the address in US for Mailing (some relatives); while in G-325a form for my wife we clear add the adress for last 5 years outside US;

is this the conflict and they request this? can we add the address outside US?

i tried online address change in USCIS site but it cannot be add outside US

If you didn't ask for a change of address then its possible that they made a mistake. Somebody on here called USCIS and asked for a tier 2 officer and they were able to verify the address.

I thought the website allowed the person to access the address change form from overseas only it would not allow someone to use it more than once and they would have to wait a certain time before you can use it again.

But in any case that doesn't allow you to see your current address just to change it.

Also if the address they have on you is wrong the mail goes back to USCIS who will tell you the mail they sent you was undeliverable. Atleast that was the case for the peron on this thread.

    Hope this helps.

  4. Hi there,

Is anyone still following this post?? Our case was transferred to Potomac on December 2nd, 2015.

I just called USCIS to get processing times, and they told me 6 months for Potomac! Grrrr

    Adam and Steph

Hi Adam, yes there are at least 10 or so of us waiting NOA2s. Wow they transferred you to a center that there's no information about, that stinks! Yeah USCIS won't tell you anything about processing times, except to say wait 6 months. :bonk:

I thought they transfer cases to send them off to a place that has less of a case backlog. But you were transferred 2 months ago. So you are certainly due for your NOA2. Hopefully your NOA1 was close to your transfer date so you haven't been waiting forever?

You could try one other thing USCIS has 2 levels of operators, you could tell the first guy you are really confused and you need to talk to a tier 2 officer, those guys have access to a computer witch can check on your case. But then again I don't know if they would do it for you.

    Good luck!

  5. We almost did K-1 a few years ago so you may have seen me then. But when we realised I wouldn't be able to work for many months it was ruled out and we got married and are doing CR-1.

I'm nervous about the London embassy too and I used to live and work in London! But the reports from other UK members are that the embassy here is very easygoing and nothing to be worried about.

Oh ok, yes it could have been from back then. Probably nervous wasn't the right word, just for me everything here is easy just take your car. A couple years ago we wanted to take her dog with us to some bed and breakfast somewhere close to London, OMG avoiding the underground meant taking a train, then bus and then another train, and most of the stations we'd never been to before. Add to it we did it on a Sunday (oops!) where the ticket office is closed so we couldn't ask. Nearly missed the next train cause we couldn't find the bus stop for that bus. Luckily there we spotted some Taxi's and got one just in time to get to the train station. I could keep going but you've got the picture! Anyway this kind of thing has happened to us so many times. So that's what makes me a little worried! :D But anyway had some practice by now so we would be comfortable enough to get to the interview!

Yes as far as the actual interview I've only read good things. Just its probably a good idea to go, once beforehand (for she and I anyway) to the place where the Medical is, and they talk about a shop where you can lock your stuff before you get to the interview. I think I read somewhere that its near the Broad street subway stop, at least for the medical.

Anyway if I run into something like that in the future where I'm not sure of how to get there, I hope you don't mind if I ask.

    Thanks!

  6. USCIS will officially quote a processing time much longer than it really is. If they told you what date they were really working on they would have too many phone calls.

Based on VJ members' data, Nebraska is currently processing October 8.

    http://www.visajourney.com/content/times

If USCIS made that public, everyone with October 9 date would be on the phone to them tomorrow morning and they don't want that. So they officially post a date that shows they are within the 5 or 6-month timeframe. It is also possible that there are still some August files being processed that are more complex with multiple RFEs or something like that. Therefore they can say they are processing August when in reality they are much further.

Hi JFH, I've seen you around VJ before but didn't realize your petition was filed just this month. My wife is in England and actually that London consulate part of the process worries me more than the USCIS part. She's only been in England for about 3 years now. She and I have spent a couple days in London, but the part about catching a train from Bristol to Paddington and figuring out the underground to get to the the places can be a little nerve racking, especially the first time you do it! :D

  7. We are still waiting. I check the USCIS website everyday, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. It just has the "My Case Was Received" since December 17th.

And what is this phone number I keep reading people are calling for updates? When I called the number listed on the USCIS site it was just a series of merry-go-round recordings that didn't tell me anything that wasn't already on the site.

Also when I try to look up processing times for Nebraska Service Ctr. I-130 Spouse, it just says August 2nd, 2015. That's really encouraging.

Hi Kh yes the USCIS service center number is usually pretty useless. In certain special cases you can get them to do something for you from one of their 2nd tier offices, if you ask for one. But most of the time you only get the person who doesn't have access to your case. Like if you ask them your case status they'll tell you to call them 6 months after your NOA1 date.

Like JFH mentioned Nebraska's processing date in now October 8th. That means October 8 NOA1 date petitions with that JUST started to get processed. Which means that hopefully in 2 months December 8th NOA1s start getting processed.

    Good luck!

  8. I just talked to her again Looky, she said an attorney told her that he use his Birth certificate to come back into the states off the cruise. I missed wrote he "DONT" have a ID from the states.

The birth certificate only states where, when and who he was born to. I don't know what that has to do with an expired tourist visa?

I would still ask this in a general section, the VJ moderators will move it to the right place. People on VJ tend not to trust lawyers. You would get better info from here cause there are a lot of people that know about these issues better than some immigration lawyers.

  9. Yes I did read that story before Looky. But she was trying to tell me that someone told her that he could go on the cruise and re-enter with his state issued ID. I told her about Reggie's story, but she wanted my to ask for yalls opinion.

This state id - A US state? I don't know how can a tourist get a valid state ID?

The border control people can do whatever they feel like, that day.

I would ask this in a thread where anybody at VJ can respond to you. Like when you click on VJs Home button, you see people asking questions like this on the left column.

  10. Good Morning everyone, I have a question to ask. I have a friend who's husband has over stayed his tourist visa. He and her got married in June. They are in the process of doing their paperwork. They want to go on a cruise really soon. While they are doing the process is it possible for him to go on a cruise right now or is it not a good idea for him to do that until he gets his greencard.

I take it you didn't read Reggie's story, they got married in the US and went out of the country for their honeymoon. They wouldn't let his wife back in the country and they end up doing an I-130. They were lucky cause they were both able to live abroad and file from there.

If the husband has overstayed his tourist visa how is he going to get back into the US. Being married to someone in the US is more of a reason not to let him back in, not the other way around. (My opinion)

  11. Looky, I am glad to know you on here! I feel like we are the only ones from December waiting, the only ones going through Texas, and the only ones who aren't doing DCF. If not for you, I'd probably be going crazy wondering what's going on!

Thank you JLovesA , nice knowing you on here too  ! Yes I like to make some noise :ranting: , I guess it helps keeps my mind off the wait. We also have another thing in common, we were both trying to do K-1 Visas about 5 years ago. In those threads there were a lot more people. There are a lot less doing the I-130.

Also there are about 10 other people who are in the same boat we are but most of them are pretty quiet so we don't notice them too much.

By the way it looks like TSC and NSC are starting to trend a little faster and CSC is starting to get a tad bit slower. Looking at those graphs of historical processing times. Not that the change is much at all and probably won't make much of a difference to us December people.

  12. i had my first encounter with the NVC today ( i am still waiting on my NOA 2 btw , i just wanted to ask them a question regarding name change )

so i had my wife's married name on the i-130 form , we thought we will change the name on the passport later

turns out that its too long for her to change the name on the passport and then get a police clearance certificate for the nvc stage ( she is an indian who is doing her masters in canada )

rather than going through all that we decided to go ahead with her maiden name , so i called NVC with just my uscis number in hand , within 2 min a nice lady helped came , heard my question and answered " you just need to send a mail to us with her changed name and a copy of her current passport "

    she was calm and helpful

we decided that we will change her name at a later stage ( since she will be getting a Conditional visa so it needs to be renewed after 2 years , we can do a name change then )

i hope we all ( those who are waiting ) get NOA 2 soon , though we still have 2 more months to go

    Nebraska why so slow

But then on the I-130 you put your last name as her last name, and her last name is still her maiden name, correct? I don't know that could cause some confusion at USCIS, cause they have to do name checks before approval,

  13. Hi All;

We just check the status and it's changed to "Documents was mailed" we called USCIS and they told me that wait till you recieve the notice if it's approved or there is any action; do you have idea on this?

    my_logo.png
    Document Was Mailed

We mailed your document for your Form I-130, Immigrant Petition for Relative, Fiance(E), or Orphan, Receipt Number WACxxxxxx If you do not receive your document by March 27, 2016, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request that we resend the document to you. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

I have seen somebody else's status before they got NOA2, and it specifically mentioned that they approved the I-130. This seems to me like its probably an RFE, request for evidence, document. Either something you wrote or checked on a form needs correction, or they want some more evidence or something. In most cases something minor and then you may get approval a few weeks after you send in what they want.

  14. I paid the AOS fee today, too! We went to get my husband's criminal record from the local police, found out how to get his military record and found out the prices to get them translated. Will try get his birth certificate in English, too, to save money on translating. I think it's available. Got to read up on the AOS package and remind myself what needs to go in there now. The clock is tickin!

Say Blanche, if you haven't seen this link, it might help, it has step by step details of the NVC process.

Congrats Blanche! The clock is ticking only as fast as you want it to tick right? The deadline is like a whole year, I thought. You get the DS-260 done? The biggest things for AOS are the I-864 and for you to establish your domicile in the US? But don't hold me to any of that cause I've never been at that stage.

Oh and no not your husbands Criminal Record, your husbands Police Report! Think positive :D There's also the medical

  16. I am so sad now. Wishing my hubby could be here already. This time is moving so slow.....

Sorry to hear that RSDP, I know its been tough on you from the start. It would be nice if you two were to be able to meet somewhere to ease the pain of being apart. Many of us have a way of just not thinking about it and just plunging our minds in something else. Obviously you haven't found something yet that works for you. I hope you do because honestly there is still a ways to go even after NOA2. Do you talk to each other through Skype web cam of anything like that so you can see each other? I hope you find something to help.

    Good luck! (F)

  17. Well looky, I spent my time doing things that I have not done before in this stage and try not to look into the timeline, it will come definitely. Relax, relax and relax...

Hi Daylight, well good for you relax and not worry about it! Yes I agree, I am coping fine also just once in a while my fingers get itchy and want to do some typing. Well actually maybe my mind got itchy first but I think you've got the picture! :P

  18. Well guys its the 21st, I think for several of us this is like a monthly anniversary of our petition's and USCIS meeting and starting this really boring party of ours. ;) Well 2 months have passed and now we only have 11 or so people in here waiting for NOA2s :clock: 3 months or less (oh please be less) hopefully till our NOA2s.

Well hope all of you are coping with it ok. We're at the Backend of the wait and good riddance Frontend! :D

  19. I have a question that really could be a problem. On our paper my husband gave me his passport number as his A#. He don't have Alien Registration number. So what should we do in this case. We don't want them to kick it out because of wrong information. "PLEASE help!!!!!!"

Not sure what you mean. Do you mean he put his passport number on the G325A where the A# is supposed to go?

They don't kick cases out, they would send you a RFE, request for evidence. If it was a big problem the lockbox would have rejected your case from the beginning.

If you really wanted you could make a supplement with a cover letter explaining the error and attach the corrected form. In that case you would have to write down your case number so that they can match where your case is with the supplement and send it to your service center. You would have to send it to the same lockbox address that you sent the petition to. But they won't give you any feedback.

The other option is just wait and see if they send you an RFE.

Is his passport number 8 or 9 digits, cause if its not it doesn't match an A#.
