Merry Christmas December fliers, so we sent my petition to the lockbox on d 7th of dis month and we got a confirmation/approval email,we are waiting for the official receipt......first gets crossed... Pls guys watz d next step...can smone fill me in..tnxx
Merry Christmas Sophjosh, and welcome. Well first thing you, or your spouse, should do check the NOA1 letter and make sure it is all correct, cause you don't want any incorrect information to get passed through the process. Like your names and birthdates have to be spelled correct etc.
It is possible that you also might receive RFEs, requesting evidence, and if so you will have to gather that and send it back to them.
Then its never too late to start looking and gathering the information that the US Embassy at the country will want from you. There's an embassy info tab at the top and probably some VJ suggestions or examples on some of the tabs above.
Good luck!

Mkate:
The Alien Number on your on your NOA1 is yours, the one you always had, isn't it? I got confused when you said they gave you an alien number. They didn't give you an alien number they just put your original number back on the form, right?
Cause when I looked at my NOA1, I compared the A# that was on my Naturalization certificate with what was on NOA1 and they were the same.
Its the A# on the NOA2 which will have your wife's number on it.

Congratualtions on your NOA1 AH88, I just got my NOA1 hardcopy today, its at TSC.
Not sure if people know, its a really rough estimate, but if you add you NOA1 date to your timeline, when you view your timeline at the bottom of the table you'll find something like mine:
Based on timeline data your I-130 may be adjudicated between May 11 2016 and May 26th 2016
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Let's hope by Christmas 2016 we'll all be sitting on visas in the passport!
Yes may the Force Be With US!
The slings and arrows of outrageous misfortune will mostly come from the dark side in the form of RFE's, Request For Evidence, but hopefully if they do we'll be able to slice them in shreds with a few swings from our light sabres!!!
RSDP, somehow my comments got lost in my post to you, I was just praying that you'll be feeling much better from now on and happy holidays to you too!
-
hey Guys so I send mine overnight on the 22 for the phoenix lock-box, lolll they signed for it on the 23. now I know this is the holiday seasons but I do hope I hear from them before the new years starts. I am supper happy that something good is working out for the 2016 cause god knows I miss my hubby and daughter so much. I can't wait to have them here with me next year for the holidays. Normally I am with them for the holidays but this year with all that went on, a surgery, and many other health issues I had to remain here in the states and this is the worse holiday for me ever.
, I am over here praying for all of us to go through this process smoothly. I see that alot of people are getting California and I am praying we all do since I was told they were one of the fastest branch. here is to hope, and love. HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE.

Sent off my I-130 package on 8 December 2015 and received email confirmation of receipt and forwarding to California Service Centre on 17 December. I'm also expecting a 9 to 12 months end-to-end process. I emailed my embassy a couple of months ago and they said currently 9 months but always subject to change.
Welcome to the December gang, and congratulations RJS7. We've got 8 in here so far and hopefully it goes relatively smooth and steady for all.

So what would one do if ex is out of the picture and whereabouts unknown? Just curious.

Svetlana77
Since you are just going on vacation with your daughter, I don't believe you need any release authorization from your ex.
I don't know if anybody here has noted that you are in a war zone, in Ukraine. Hopefully you are well away from the fighting!

The first 3 letters,
WAC -- California Service center
EAC -- Vermont
NSC -- Nebraska
SRC -- Texas
I don't know what the other's are, my case hasn't even got as far as yours yet so I can't even compare.
The status thing has changed so I don't know. I just remember it never quite worked right, for some people the update never showed.
The date was updated whenever somebody scanned your case, but it usually didn't really mean much cause they could have just moved your case from one place to another or something.
Once it goes to your service center it usually stays and processes there, although they can transfer it, but they will tell you in that case.
-
Sure, but also you do know there are people on VJ that probably have gone thru exactly what you are dealing with, just they are not in this thread. Start a new topic outside of this thread and put part of your question in the title, at like the general IR1/CR1 level so people who know about this can answer your questions, you will probably find there are folks who know the ins and outs of the process.

Still there are CO-OP opportunities from colleges and students are allowed to teach at the universities, so it is possible. People do hire students, especially in a university area.
It very much depends of course on the type of skills and talent the person has, like STEM related fields are the easiest to get something with because they have skills employers want.
-
Do you want to study here? Get accepted to study at a US University to get a student visa.
P visa,if you can become a famous entertainer, rock star, and have lots of scheduled shows in the US.
O visa you have artistic type talents and other things like that (you'll have to look it up)
Anyway I would say the Student visa would be the easiest plus you can have your aunt support you financially. Then you can find some sort of work either with the school or somewhere else, while studying.

Hey guys, I wanna tell you something-: I'm a green card holder since 2 years, last time 8 month ago I was gone my country and I did marriage, I was back on 5 month ago on USA.... Now Dec 10 I applyed for my wife using the form i130, G325A,G1145. Dec 14 the lockbox send me mail, your application was accepted and we going to transfer California service center..... Now today , I gat a mail.. The Mail showing my priority date is December 14. And preference classification is 203A2A INA SPOUSE OF LPR. And they gives me alien number also, I just wanna talk you about, how long the process on my case and what does mean on 203 a2a ina spouse of lpr, plz kindly can you tell me about this......
Mkate, here's what I could gather. Since you are an LPR filling I-130 your visa is an F2A family based visa. For residents, unlike for USCs, visa's are not always available and the NVC won't schedule your interview until they are available.
USCIS publishes these monthly visa bulletins which would tell you the cutoff dates for the Visa for the country you're dealing with. The priority date has to be earlier than the cutoff date for visa's to be available.
Like I said I really don't know a whole lot about this but just thought I'd give you enough info so that you can find out what you need to. Good luck!

The Alien number they gave you I believe is not yours, you already have one and will be your forever. The alien number you got will be your wife's.
I think the priority date is something like the date when the visa is available.
Maybe this link might help, I've got a party to go to!

Mailed mine out last week! Let's see how long this takes
Hi AH88, I see you also just got your Citzenship, Congratulations on that and now starting the I-130. Quite the busy one aren't you!
2016 going to be a great year for all of us!
-
Thanks for response..... I just gat a receipt notice...they gives me alien number and the csc write down the performance classification 203 a2a ina spouse of lpr. What does mean? Can you tell me plz
Its also possible that they have you in the wrong classification. I read somebody just got his citizenship but USCIS had him down as an LPR. He just had to correct it with USCIS and it was solved.

I'm not perfectly sure. LPR is Lawful Permanent Resident. But I did a VJ search and somebody asked that question. I didn't quite understand the responses but possibly something about someone overstaying some visa or something about needing to adjust status.
I'm a US Citizen so I don't quite know how the I-130 process works if you are an LPR. I would post the question outside of this thread to get some answers from folks who might know something about this.

Hey guys.... The Chicago received my i130 on dec 14, and the send me a mail, you case is forward to California services center.... So I worried, how long the California takes a time to approve my i130, I'm a green card holder since 2 years... I was applyed for my wife... She is on nepal right now
Hi Mkate, congratulations and welcome! When I click the 'Processing Times' tab up at the top and look for I-130 CSC. It says October 23 (I forgot exactly already) NOA1 dates are being processed right now. But that seems way too quick, cause that would mean processing at CSC would get done in 2 months for December filers. But I don't know that may be misleading cause in 2 months the lockboxes may have started sending more I-130 petitions to CSC to increase the backlog.
But in general their goal is to get all the service centers average processing times to 5 months. Then after that you have your country specific processing time for NVC and US Embassy in Nepal which you probably can find using the Embassy info tab above and / or your embassy processing times somewhere else on VJ.
Also if you fill in your timeline with your NOA1 date and all I believe it gives an approximate date for the NOA2. There are other tools and lists like Igor's list which displays information on VJ member NOA1 to NOA2 dates and all which can tell you something about how long its taking. Some are also deceiving cause some cases are approved for expedites, for special or extreme / emergency cases.
They are all really estimates, every case is different so there's no definite answer, it just depends. Good luck!

Hi, everyone!
My husband (the petitioner) filed the i-130 Dec 7 then he received the NOA1 hardcopy last week, Dec 18.
Our case was sent to Nebraska Service Center. Yes, NEBRASKA!
I've read a lot of delays from Nebraska. i'm getting worried
there were also lucky ones from nebraska service center who got their visa approved within 6 months from filing.
well, let's hope for the best.
Best of luck to everyone of us!
Hi DeeDah, well welcome and congratulations you are ahead of most of us here cause nobody else, so far has the NOA1 hard copy. Well VisaJourney says NSC is processing NOA1 dates of July 14 right now, so that would mean December NSC filers would get filed 5 months from now. I may be wrong but I think these days the lockbox tries to send you to the center with the least backlog. So its sort of a moving scale.
Yes, hope for the best, and good luck!

Hi guys, well I am not new to this marigold round (can't spell) but after getting my health in order I have finally had the strength to start this again. It's on It's way to the phoenix lock box so here goes nothing.
congrats to all the ones who have received their NOA1, or lock box receive their paperwork, news. I will keep all of us in my prayers. much love newly found friends.
I did everything on my own also, so I am taking you guys as my support group.... much love
Hi RSDP, welcome to the merry go round, where we also play musical chairs, pin the tail on USCIS and all the most confusing games to fill your hearts desire
Hope whatever health issue you have gets better soon.
The lockbox processing doesn't seem to take too long if everything is mostly in good order, so I imagine you too will soon jump into our NOA1 boat!

Hi Raj, I'm so glad to get thru this journey with people out there. All I know is USCIS received and signed my package. Hopefully, I get a response via text message or email by the end of this week. Fingers crossed!
Great news you have already received your NOA1! Congrats
I've been checking my bank account to know if they have cashed out the check. Nothing yet
Hi Sky, congrats on your package making it to the lockbox, you are officially in the game! I suspect you'll see the email and text message then you'll see the pending charge in your bank account the day after that. Well at least thats how it worked for me. But you are rubbing up against Christmas eve and day so you may see the text by Friday, if Santa brings you some luck! Or urr if you've been bad this year it may take till Monday!

On thing, I don't believe the OP ever stated that he even filed the I-130, all he asked was can he get a visa for his wife. We don't even know if he presented their case at all to USCIS, everybody is just assuming he did.
-
Hello there,
I just sent my form I-130 and docs required for my husband's visa. I did all the paperwork myself(feeling like a bad ### lawyer)
I hope to find people out there are in the same situation and get approvals ASAP
Please share our stories so things and waiting time would get easier
Rgds,
Sky
Hi Sky, congratulations on getting your I-130 out and welcome to the happy club except for Blanche, who's happy but growling a little
cause USCIS screwed up her address and so she and USCIS are starting off on the bad foot.
Feeling like a bad ## lawyer huh, well once we get thru this journey you may become a star lawyer!
Me I'm just getting warmed up and excited cause I got my text message so feel like the big show just started!
So far there's only us 3 in here but I imagine they'll be more later when things really get started.
-
Blanche, I didn't fully read the part where you asked if the NOA1 is really needed, no but I still keep it cause you never know in the future. Like if you file for something else later they ask you about previous filings, so the NOA1 gives you a record, if you can find it when you need it!
But I don't know what that start all over after 180 days was, that's scary! Hopefully you got that fixed?
I got my text message already, they've really just had 2 full days of work to get it processed at the lockbox, wow! It went to TSC, didn't expect that. Now for the 7 to 10 day snail watch!

Hi DeeDah, thanks, definitely makes you feel like wow, finally started on the golden path for the GOLD I seek!
By the way there is a little bit you want to check on before your NOA2, I posted it with post to Sophjosh just in case.
Happy Christmas!
