    Hi again August filers!
We received our interview notice this week. Interview date 8/01 (PD 8/23/2017). I'm just relieved that the interview is just 2 weeks before my medical examination expires. Field office is Chicago btw.

All the best for those who are still waiting for their interview!!

    Hi @GoodVibesOnly

I'm so sorry to hear about your case - I know it's so frustrating and disappointing  Have you tried reaching out to some congressman/woman office? We reached out to Sen Tammy Duckworth by the end of December and we received a response a month later. The senator's office at least was successful in getting some real answers from USCIS (but not that useful for us because I still don't know whether/when I will have my AP in a month...). But it might be more helpful for you. Here is the link to get help from Duckworth office

Mine has been stuck in "case ready to be scheduled for an interview" since Sep 26 2017. I don't think it means much. In my InfoPass appointment a month ago, the immigration officer told me it'll be another 1-2 months until my case is picked up by the office, i.e. being transferred from NBC to Chicago. But who knows if he's right.

Every case is different. Your case might very well move forward faster since Chicago can be highly heterogeneous. Best of luck to you!

I think I will do that. We will request an expedite based on financial loss because we plan this 8 months in advance and have spent over 10K in expenses for our wedding and travel outside the US.

If you search on Google, many websites by Chicago lawyers will say that the average time to schedule interviews is 4-5 months. I have had friends whose timelines also fall within that range. But of course, this is an average - there are people with shorter and longer wait times. I wish your case will move forward sooner rather than later!

I know that USCIS sent my card but the post office did not deliver it. I have had trouble receiving mails at my address. I don't understand the post office - they sometimes deliver my mails and sometimes do not deliver my mails. Like I received my biometrics appointment and I-131 approval notice but not my receipt notices and the actual I-131 card. I saw that it was coming in the mail (through informed delivery) but did not find it in my mailbox. My last name is different from that of my spouse and nonwhite-sounding so I feel like the mailman/woman just decided that "nah, this is wrong, I don't want to deliver this mail to this person, who probably does not live here". But duh, I have lived here for a year and have received many mails/packages here...

Thank you guys for being such a helpful group! I know I can count on having someone to commiserate with during these times! Best wishes for all of you!

    Hi everyone,

Hope you are all doing well. I wanted to update on my InfoPass appointment. I went today to ask why my approved I-131 has not been delivered (I received approval notice on Nov 29, 2017) and was told that the post office could not deliver it and NBC does not currently have it. The immigration officer told me it means I will have to apply for I-131 again, basically starting the whole process over again.

I'm really upset because I have made all arrangements for wedding and travel in late March, and it looks like it might not happen. But it's ok - I guess some time life does not go the way you want it and there are things out of your control. Therefore I will focus on other aspects of my life.

On a side note, I asked about my I-485, which has been in "case ready to be scheduled for an interview" since September 26 and was told that "the case is almost ready to be picked up". The officer said that online status is one thing, but what it means is that my case is ready to be picked up by the local field office. For Chicago, he said that it could be another 1-2 months, which is consistent which what I heard that the Chicago field office usually schedules interviews within 4-5 months. Hope this information is useful for some of you Chicago filers! Good luck everyone!

WOW, I'm sorry that happened to you. That's really unbelievable. When you submit the new app, perhaps you could immediately request an expedite as well? One of the few conditions to request an expedite is specifically "USCIS error" - so IN THEORY they should speed that app along. In reality, perhaps they just won't admit the error...

That's really horrible that you didn't do anything wrong on your application and they lost it after approval somewhere in the process. I'm sure you already tried this but what does the post office say? Surely it has to be somewhere... i know of 2 cases where both the EAD/AP and greencard came exactly 2 months / 60 days later from approval date on mail. They never knew why this happened and no one (post office & uscis) knew where they were. And they told them the same thing they told you. Maybe it's a similar and strange situation. You might check your mail on January 29, hopefully it arrives.

Where did you hear about Chicago doing interviews within 4-5 months? I always thought it was 7-9 months and that was what it said online when I first filed (super early August filer here with initial I-765 both lost and found by uscis, name typo by uscis on I-485, no ead or interview coming, nothing) and when I called back then to ask a T2 officer they also said it is usually 8-9 months for Chicago. Before I filed I knew the Chicago office was one of the busiest (not outside the 10-month-wait
though like other offices) from what I've read here and on inmihelp. But you know, there can always be super fast cases here and there I guess that are an exception to the rule.

I don't understand why he told you to file again though. It *shouldn't* be like that... I've also read that some people file for theft/Mail Fraud with the federal inspector agency but not sure you want to look into this just yet.

I really hope for you guys to be able to travel on March. This whole experience can be very frustrating and energy draining. All the best for you.

I have not. Scheduled an infopass for next week after calling and talking to an immigration officer, who told me I did not answer his questions correctly so he could not provide me with any information and then promptly hung up the phone.

Filing for AOS should not affect your student status. But, I do recommend having your EAD in case your F1 status ends before your AOS is processed. The EAD could take up to six months, so you should file for it now. It is free if you file with i485 and i131. But I wouldn't worry about your F1 student visa, it shouldn't be a problem.

I agree with what Imenko said. Filing should not affect your F-1 status, HOWEVER, if it's anything like J visas, you will lose it once your I-485 is approved.
I don't think you should be worried. If your end date is far in the future you are likely to get your green card first if not, you can just get the extension.

Yes you should be able to see if its approval in informed delivery if you can see through the window thingy and you should see the arm of the statue of liberty. going through the middle. The approval notices come in really nice thick paper with watermarks and stuff. Feels special. Congrats

    Good morning everyone!

I have an incoming letter from USCIS, coming from NBC at Lee's Summit! I'm super excited. I am anxiously waiting for AP to travel in March (did not apply for EAD since I'm still in school... but now realize I should have). Hopeful that this is notice approval for AP. FYI my PD is August 23rd.

Sending all my best wishes to everyone who is still waiting. I'm sorry it really sucks :-( but hopefully the wait will soon be over...
