Hello Jafferi, I heard the same thing, but personally, I think this is a myth. I reopened our DS-260 throughout our NVC period and it doesn't seem to have impacted our processing time at all, and if you look at our timeline, we breezed through NVC pretty quickly. Also, by reviewing our completed DS-260, I caught a small error that I made that I'm prepared to address if it comes up in our interview. That's my view of this issue.

It would have have been a different case if you opened your DS 261 but Ds 260 you are good to go

jafferi reacted to Thereandbackagain in Immigrant VISA - does it need to be stamped inside of passport
So our VISA was approved for my husband  BUUUUUUUUT they didn't ask us for his passport. When we went online to check his status it said approved and that the VISA was being sent to us.
Confusing because I thought VISAs had to be stamped?

Anyone know now of any sort of new VISA on a separate piece of paper?

That is very weird. When I called to confirm my scan date they said they received both financial and civil documents.

Did you use two scan sheets? Or did you split the two packets inside the envelope?

How did you find out that they haven't update your financial docs? did they specifically says that your financial docs are missing?

Normally they have two document cover: one for AOS and one for IV.I have put AOS document cover & Check list cover from welcome letter with all financial documents and IV cover& Check list cover from welcome letter with all supporting documents. Then put them in a big envelope and mailed it. if you miss one of document cover (AOS or IV), who knows, they might thought all documents belong to one group (either financial or Supporting) and claimed that they were missing documents

It varies but at the moment for people who receive no checklist (submitted all the correct information) its taking between 6-11 weeks. Most people from June / Julyish seem to be getting CC after around 8 week mark.

There are the standard reasons for an expedite, then there are reasons that aren't listed. I was chit chatting with an operator at the NVC and he suggested I request an expedite. I said, "its not one of the reasons listed". He said, "so"... The worst that will happen, 'they' will deny it. It affects nothing, you don't lose your spot in line etc. The expedite request will be sent to the Embassy that will be interviewing the beneficiary. They decide yes or no. From what I have read and based on my own experience you should have a decision in 2-4 business days.

If your case is granted, 'expedite'. Your file is pulled and sent to the Embassy. Basically switching you to consular filing. Our case was expedited because of getting the kids in school for the beginning of the school year. We were already into week 5 of the 11 week wait for NVC to check the file. From the timelines similar to ours it saved 6 weeks. Difference being, my boys will be sitting in class vs sitting at the Embassy waiting to be interviewed.

If you never indicated that you were arrested during your stay in UK and you are sure such never occurred, then you don't have to provide a court record or court decision but you will have to provide police report or clearance since having lived there for 5 years. People from UK or people who have lived in UK and back to their home country before applying may tell you what kind of police clearance or report and from where you have to get it if you are not sure about that.  Good luck.

It could easily take 11 weeks for them to review your paperwork, then another month or so to schedule an interview.  After the interview. you can expect a period of time for administrative processing. Administrative Processing can last a few days, a few weeks, or months.   If NVC issues you a checklist for missing documents (for example), it can delay the process by as many as 11 more weeks

Sorry, I'm not trying to discourage you.  I'm just stating reality.  You have several more months before receiving a CR-1 visa..
