Wow.. this is certainly mind draining. Well, I hope they conclude everything very soon. You should have applied for naturalization. I’m Pretty sure the biometric wld hv come in sooner if you did.

I have seen people express concerns about getting their driver's license.  This was something I did not think about either.  So I contacted the DMV office, through email (so that it is a written record) and asked them in detail about this process (see my correspondence below).  I will take this email with me to the DMV and I hope that it will alleviate any confusion.  
 
Me: Hello,  I have started the process to have my green card renewed (I-751).  It expires on 5/22/2020.  It will take between 1-1.5 years to receive the new card based on the current processing times at USCIS.  In the meantime, I will receive a letter (Form I-797C) stating that my permanent resident status will be still valid for 18 months, after the current green card has expired, so that I have proof of legal residence.  My DL also expires on 5/22/2020.  What documentation do I need to provide to renew my license while I am in limbo, waiting for my new green card?  Will the letter showing my extension and my expired or expiring green card be enough?  Please advise, thank you?
 
DMV: With that approval you can get an extension of your DL for 18 months

I sent my application in on 2/21, it was received on 2/24 (according to them).  My credit card was charged on 2/27.  I got a text message today (2/28) with my receipt number. 

It is a combination of luck and due diligence that determines how quick it is, I think. I got a case complete in under 8 months from filing and I am waiting for my interview. 

Based on other people's timelines, the process for me was extremely quick.  I have my interview next week....295 after we first started the process.  That is around 10 months.

We did something similar for our I-130 packet, added a handful of Facebook screenshots with time stamps, likes, comments from friends and family etc. Can’t hurt. 

This is more of advice or what I did, not a question.
 
I went to my Instagram account on my PC and printed several pictures with my spouse that I will use at my interview.  I did this because it has the dates and locations, if you added it.  This spanned several years and multiple countries (including him visiting me and vice versa).  I think I printed off about 6-8 pictures.

I am assuming when you say your "study visa" you mean a student visa to attend college or uni?  If that is the case, the institution where you are attending should take care of all your immigration needs, and you shouldn't need a "consultancy" company.  At least that's how it was when I attended college in the US.
