  1. Update, about 2 weeks after this incident (hubby had an interview June 4, but the office closed due to a tropical storm coming in that day....which just turned out to be rain) and  his new interview date was July 14 (Thursday) I'm happy to report he passed his interview and his Oat Ceremony was the next day July 15 (Friday) and that same day he applied for a passport and registered to vote. Thank God we are finally done with this process.

  2. Hubby had his citizenship interview scheduled for today (June 4) and when he got there there was a notice saying office was closed!,  I'm assuming it was because of the tropical storm hitting us this week, but the notice didn't say anything about the reason for closure. In fact it wasn't even an official notice on a USCIS letter head, it was a piece of paper that said " THE USCIS OAKLAND PARK FIELD OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED ON SATURDAY, JUNE 4th" Honestly it's only been rain, no gusts of wind, nothing.  I went to the website and they report that all offices are open. .  What are we supposed to do now? To say we're upset is an understatement....

  3. Hello everyone,

Hubby got a notice yesterday (april 22, 2022) in the mail....After 2 years and a month  we finally got something from USCIS!! Thank God!

Anyways, his interview/exam is scheduled for June 4, we had a few questions...

    1. will I be able to go in with him to the interview(I'm the US citizen spouse)? or is it just the applicant?

    2.  In addition to the documents requested in the notice, does he need to bring any supplemental documentation (for example: birth certificates of our kids, mortgage bill, tax returns, pictures, etc)?

    3.  If the oath ceremony is for another day, can he have guests be there (myself and our boys)?

We were very happy to know that we got assigned this office since it's 15 min from where we live.  Thank you all for your inpuat and to those still waiting, Hold on! your time will come soon :)

Something is definitely wrong. My local office was also Oakland Park, FL.  I also applied in March 2020, and was sworn in the first week of January, 2021.

    Thanks I guess??

I obviously know there is something wrong... for some reason my husbands file fell through the cracks....the purpose of the post was to see if anyone else had the same issue and if they could offer any advice...

  5. Hello,

It's been a while since I was on here.  Hubby submitted his application for N400 (online) in March 2020....yes, you read that right in 2020, thanks to COVID it is now outside the normal processing time. 🙄 He requested a status update and he was told he'll hear back by Sept 29......lo and behold we heard nothing... we managed to speak to a live person when we called 800-375-5283, and they told us to wait, and  that there is nothing she can tell us at this time.

The only thing we have received in the mail was back in January 2021, stating that he didn't need updated biometrics (we've traveled quite a bit since he got his GC in 2009),and they were going to use what they had in the system but of course they weren't going to refund us the biometrics fee 😅

I believe his case is at the NBC, but I can't seem to find the phone number for that. Would anyone here happen to have it?  Also, anyone else having the same experience and have any advice of what we can do while we wait? Thankfully hubby's GC doesn't expire until Oct 2022, but it's a little disheartening seeing ppl who applied waaaaay after us getting interviews by the end of this year.  Any and all advice is appreciated thanks!🤗

    -Michelle

  6. Woohoo! Ricardo got his Bio appt today!! it's 02/11 and its already updated on the list..

  8. That OMB expiration date is an internal review date and has nothing to do with the form being accepted. Look at the bottom of any form to see the Form Date. If yours says 11/23/2010, you are using the latest form, but two previous ones are accepted according to USCIS.

Thanks JeroenandMichelle, thanks Nich-Nick, now my husband and I have peace of mind :D ....sending our paperwork today and I'll be letting you guys know when they receive it at Vermont!! :)

  9. Hi everyone,

we probably won't be filing until Jan, but I have a question. We have never been called for an interview for any part of the process. The only time Ricardo had to do an interview was at the very beginning to get his fiancee visa at the US embassy in Panama. I just wanted to know if we will be called for an interview since we're not sending any joint tax return papers. You see, I was a student when we got married and he had an online business so he never filed taxes. I graduated in May 2010 and working and he also has a job but we won't be able to file jointly until we get our W-2's for 2010. You think that will be a problem? We're sending everything else with our names on it: Bank statements, insurance cards, car insurance cards, 401K docs w/him listed as a beneficiary, lease agreement, as well as pictures of us with family. Also, does anyone know if there will be a new I-751 form will be coming out? the current one that is posted on the uscis expires 12/31/10....anyone know of any updates? thanks for all your help.

  11. So you think that is not true?? You are delusional. Just because your SO is an illegal don't expect any sympathy here. Go hand out with other illegals who most likely will understand your position. This website is for people who are honest and trying to LEGALLY get their loved ones here.

First of all I don't give a damn what u think.

Second of all I can post any where I'd like.

Third of all I don't want your dirty sympathy.

    Fourth of all COMPRENDA?

Quick question: why are you still posting here if obviously the majority here does not support your cause? I think the time and energy you are using to post things here, could be put to good use at other weibistes where they support your position. You mentioned that you only speak to "positive " people and prefer to write positive things. Based on your last posts all you've have written are things to either ridicule or put others down. Seriously, I think your energy is better spent posting elsewere, unless of course you like the adrenaline rush of arguing with people. You know you are not going to get people here to agree with you, so why waste your time? It's just a suggestion from one medical professional to another (since you said you work in the medical field).

Also: comprende is spelled with an E at the end, not an A, unless that's it's a slang or something I'm not aware of.

  12. So you think that is not true?? You are delusional. Just because your SO is an illegal don't expect any sympathy here. Go hand out with other illegals who most likely will understand your position. This website is for people who are honest and trying to LEGALLY get their loved ones here.

  13. My guess would be that you will be OK in terms of being let back into the US.

They will ask you - what was the purpose of your trip?

You will have to say, to go to school.

They might question whether that means you abandoned your residency. You could defend yourself with the fact that it is only for one year. You should though get a re-entry permit before you leave the US to go to school. That'll make things easier at the POE.

Another consideration, time comes for removal of conditions, you will be likelier interviewed, because of living apart from your husband for significant amount of time.

I agree with rika60607, did you read the previous post that I wrote about getting a PharmD. ? it's just that, it seems that staying here to get your PharmD is more convenient and less of a hassle with respect to your immigration status here in the states. Not no mention the hubby will probably be happy that you won't have to be apart. Let me know if you have more questions about that, I can get you the info.

  14. A 2 week visit is just that .. a 2 week visit. Or a vacation, if you will. Taking a vacation does not indicate that you are not maintaining permanent residence.

The 2 week visit would be in the US. And that is not enough to maintain permanent residence.

No, the person who asked the question asked if the same rules applied if she were to go to visit her family overseas for 2 weeks.

I know that a 2 week visit to the US is not considered residing in the US, lol.

oh lol --- i thought you had lost your mind  --- it was me!!! :hehe:

I am sorry my question caused some confusion. To make it clear- I am the US resident-conditional 2 year green card holder. I am in the States. Never went anywhere but I want to see my family .If I go to visit my family overseas will I have any problems coming back ? My card is good until 2011

    Thanks

No you won't. My hubby is going to visit his family in Panama next week, he's staying for a week. As a resident you and go in and out of the country, but they will ask you more questions as to why you left the states at the POE into the US. But then again, even as a citizen (me), when I travel out of the country I get asked a whole bunch of questions when I come back too. But as long as your card is vaild, not expired, and your trip isn't for a long period of time (I'd say more than 1 month) then there should be no issue with you leaving or coming back. hope this helps.

  15. Hey guys!

    I just want some clarification:

Status: Conditional Green Card 2 yrs expires on early 2011 (file for I-751)

Problem: I want to know if I can go back to the Philippines to study for 1 year, well I prolly would be gone for june -october then maybe do a short trip to see my hubby here in the US then go back from Nov to March. Would that be fine or would that hinder or affect when we file for the Removal of Condition? My hubby supports my decision because this is for the betterment of my career here. I needed that in order to take the Foreign Pharmacist Exam. Would they suspect something if we do that? Or would that be alright?

OR Do we just have to wait until we file for the I-751 and get the 10yr GC?

I need your opinions please. :)

    Hi shey,

My hubby also has a conditional green card and we went through the K-1 process. I don't know much about the Green card conditions per say, but I noticed that you mentioned "Forgein Pharmacists Exam". I'm a current 4th yr PharmD student at the University of Florida (I graduate in May 2010 :)) and I know that for forgein grads you basically have two options: start from scratch, or do the forgein grad requirements which takes approximately 2-3 years. The downfall of doing the Forgein grad requirement is that you don't get a PharmD title, just an RPh. To get the PharmD. you have to do a work-study program which lasts another 2 yrs and then you are a PharmD.

So all in all it'll take you about 4 yrs, the same as it would if you were to go to pharmacy school. Also, when it comes to doing the forgein grad requirements, you have to prove that you know english by taking the TOEFEL before you even apply for it. Since you mentioned that you have to go back to finish school in the phillipines, maybe you're better off starting from scratch over here. What state are you from? I can send you a few websites that are helpful, and there is a Pharmacy school that is fully online, you can do it anywhere, and you would complete your clinicals and practicum experiences in affiliated hospitals in your city. here's there website: http://spahp2.creighton.edu/admission/Phar...cy_Distance.htm

since you mentioned that your hubby supports you going to the phillipines, I'm sure he would like it even better if you were here to do that. Since you're a resident you qualify for financial aid. If you have any questions PM me, and I'll gladly give you more info. and if you're wondering if it'll take too long, no worries, I have classmates that this is their second or third career, they have kids, I got married while in pharmacy school, and here I am 6 months away from graduation, so yes it is worth it and yes you can do it. You've already been through the immigration process and all the craziness that comes along with it, you can handle pharmacy school. Hope this helps. take care :)

  16. It's finally here! Ricardo's GC was in the mail today! At first I thought it was a Credit card or something, but when I saw where it was from, we literally jumped for joy!!! Thank you all for your feedback, help, support, and rants!! and a special thanks to envy_me for the wonderful chart........ahhh we can't believe it! we're celebrating!!! yay! let's make some babies! lmao......not yet but soon.....LoL we're just to excited and it feels kind of wierd that we don't have to deal with USCIS for a while.......thanks to all of you again and GOOD LUCK! :)

  17. Guess what?? Ricardo Got his AOS approved yesterday 03/02 :dance:

I guess it is true what they say about being transferred to CSC, no Interview!

and today we rec'd the e-mail stating that his "welcome letter" was sent!!

SO happy, so very very happy! :D

Congrats to all recent approvals! and to those still waiting, you'll get that precious notice soon enough ;)

PS: envy_me pls update us thanks!!! Pretty soon you won't have to be updating anymore :)

  18. yea just follow what raymaga said, and once you receive all your docs, then you can go ahead and change everything at the same time (DL, SS card, school docs etc). It sounds tedious and time consuming but I think that doing it this way will avoid confusion and delays in your paperwork. Usually it takes from 3-6 months to change your docs to your married name, depending on how fast your area is at doing documents.

Tu eres panamena o tu esposo? de que parte de panama son? les deseo lo mejor ;)

  19. The same thing happened to us. We got an RFE and my mother is also the cosponsor. So Yes, you have to either send proof of citizenship or residensy by making copies of docs such as: her green card, or her BC (if she was born here) her passport, etc. I sent the RFE packet w/ copies of my mom's BC and Passport, the yellow sheet of paper, and a copy of the Affadavit. As long as you send that info you're good. It took about 2 weeks to get the ball rolling again, but we gor our EAD and AP in less than 2 months after that. Good luck! ;)

  20. for K1 (fiancee visa) we can ONLY apply for the AOS after we get married, and I'm assuming that for other type of visa's that applies since you are changing your status. Also since you said that you met your husband years before you got married I don't see how that could be a problem. As long as you prove that you have a bona fide marriage they shouldn't give you a problem for the AOS. Also if you go to the September AOS filers thread, i've noticed that a lot of people with other types of visas are also filing for AOS, and I know that many of them are students like you. maybe you can ask one of them. Hope this helps and good luck! ;)
