It doesn't matter if she works or not, should could be receiving some sort of income somehow, thats why I said you should check what his filing status is in his most recent Tax return or Tax transcript. If the status says any of Single, Married filing separately or Head of household, then his wife doesn't need I-184A

Another question for you Binna,
I just noticed his return had his wife's name also. but he's the proprietor. It shouldn't mess up would it? Meant to ask I wouldn't need I-864A from his wife right?
Thanks
If he filed his return as Married filing jointly, then his wife needs to fill I-864A.
The only conditions that won't require his wife's I-864A are if he filed his return as: Single, Married filing separately or Head of household.

Thanks Binna
Do you know how long it would take after we turn in the required documents? I know no one could be accurate in days being taken.
So I'll be sending my friend's AOS, his Income tax return for 2016 and W2. I'm also attaching copy of his green card just in case.
Anything else I should send to my wife?
Thanks a lot
You are good with the documents you are will be sending, in fact more than good
For the duration, it usually depends on the consular office's work load, I am afraid no one can tell you the exact number of days, but the good thing is that you got the documents just try and send them as soon as possible.

It won't affect you in anyway. Wait until petition is approved and case is transferred to NVC and you have received a welcome letter from NVC with case number, then you should send a copy of the new passport data page to NVC.
I had exactly same situation as you and I submitted my new passport data page during the NVC Phase.

The joint sponsor can be any US citizen who meets the income requirements.
A Joint Sponsor, can also be a lawful permanent resident (LPR) and be at least 18 years old that meets the income requirements and must also have a domicile (residence) in the United States. He/She can be a family member of friends etc.
The Joint Sponsor also have to submit an Affidavit of Support, proof of their income, and proof of their legal status in the United States.
Remember: Even if a petitioner finds a joint sponsor to financially sponsor a visa applicant, that petitioner must still submit an Affidavit of Support. Hello,
We are applying for the IR-1/CR-1 Visa in Frankfurt. We already sent our I-130 and got the NOA1. As we are waiting for our I-130 approval we would like to prepare ourselves for the next steps. I know I will have to get a medical examination, and have to gather paper work such as police records etc. I found the timelines of Frankfurt but I am very confused by which steps have to be taken at what times in the process and what I can prepare already. Here are some questions we have and hope maybe that someone who went through the same can help us:
1. What are the steps following the approval of the I-130? And what can we prepare already now?
2. Can I already get my medical exam done now, so I can choose a close interview date when we get there? Or is that too early as the medical exam expires after 6 month
3. Do we have to send the paper work (passport copy, police record, marrigae certificat, I184 etcI) to Frankfurt via postal Mail like the I-130 or do I have to bring it to the interview?
4. During which step do you chose the interview date?
I am sure this was discussed before in the forum but I could not find it anywhere. We are trying to do our part as quickly as possible so at least the process is not delayed because of us and as we have to wait anyways we thought we could prepare.
Thank you so much in advanced.
All your questions can be answered by reading through the following links:

So, what I gather is you just want your kid to be an American citizen and feel it’s your right to give birth here. Just so you know immigration has become very strict and tough. I have to assume once you have the baby you have no intent on leaving. If you are from China, Pakistan, or India and can afford $20,00-$150,000 why not have the baby some place else? Like Sweden? I hear their hospitals are beautiful. I’m sorry, us Americans citizens always get the short end of the stick because of people who want to beat the system and do things the illegal way. Our loved ones we try to bring to the USA through a very LONG, EXPENSIVE, STRESSFUL, and GRUELING process have it harder on them because of people who do things illegal. Birthing tourism is illegal. If anything Trump changes it should be that law. You shouldn’t be able to step into the ISA and give birth and automatically your kid has all rights as a citizen. Not trying to be mean just simply stating the truth.
I don't see anything wrong with coming to the US legally to give birth if you can afford it and leave soon after giving birth. As far as I can tell it is completely legal. You don't condemn it because you went through a "very LONG, EXPENSIVE, STRESSFUL, and GRUELING process" to bring your loved ones to US. So are you saying others must go through same rough process as yours for it to be legal? OP simply wants to know how to go about hospitals appointment, cost, POE experience, etc. please don't inform them wrongly.

Instructions for paying the fee were in the package?
I wanted to pay it today then saw I needed info I didn't have.
Yes the instruction is in a handout (2 leaflets) that tells you about how to make the payment and information on social security. You will need the A-Number (it will be on your immigrant data summary page and also on your visa page) and your current Case number.

Got My Passport and visa in hand earlier today . They called me from the consular office to come pick it up as according to them it is faster for me since I live close to the embassy.
I have also paid my immigrant fees online and created a USCIS account and verified it - all went smoothly and successful.
So It is all over! I most grateful to Vj platform and members for the support, reliable information and most of all for keeping me in-check.
Of course I will share my POE experience when it happens - very soon

Thanks for replying but I had a specific question that the guide couldn’t answer. I’ve since emailed the Lagos embassy and received my answer.
Just curious, what is the specific question that the guide couldn’t answer?

Congratulations! Would you say 1 year is an average time for getting this done or a little on the longer side?
I would say 1 year and roughly 3 months - My case was received by USCIS on Jan 24, 2017 (NOA1) and Jan 4, 2018 I have visa in hand - which is exactly 1 year. But then, I did get expedited processing which saved me some approximately 3 months if I went through NVC and my case got sent straight to the embassy for further processing. See my signature timeline below.

My stepdaughters interview is approaching soon. I’m the petitioner and unable to fly over with such short notice. Her uncle will escort her there. Should I email the embassy to ask for permission for him to attend? What’s the policy on this?
You may need to check with the immigrant visa interview at the U.S. Consulate Lagos website on guidelines for specific information on interviews and how the rules applies to accompanying a minor. https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/iv-dv-supplemental/LGS_Lagos.pdf (Page 4 - Accompanying persons).

Are your step daughters minors? For minors they will require an adult to accompany them. The adult only need to have a valid Identification Card to present at the security check. Also you need to check with the Nigerian Consular website on guidelines for interviews and how the rules applies to accompanying a minor.

Hello,I'm also from Jamaica and I'm currently waiting on my interview date to be set, what questions did they ask you,and did you have to pay any fees at the embassy?
She asked: Who is filling for me, how we met, where and when we met, if I've traveled outside Jamaica before (she went further asking me to say where I've traveled to), she asked how often I visit my wife and she visits. It was pretty straight forward questions you should know nothing out of the ordinary.
Since you are currently waiting on your interview date to be set then I would take it that you paid both AOS and IV fees already, thus you are not paying any other fees at the embassy. The only fees you would pay is for medical and if visa is issued, you will pay for your green card after you receive your passport with visa (instructions on that is on the first page of this topic and will also be provided to you when you receive your passport).

I had posted earlier today but the site went down and looks like posts are missing, but
APPROVED!
Will give more details later.
The status changed to ISSUED right away, I'm hoping that's a good sign, I'll try calling by Friday to see if they have a tracking number.
There had been delays last month cause of a computer problem, hoping that's all gone.
Congrats!

They already have your pictures from your I-130 application so that's why they didn't needed any additional pictures and they put you on AP probably for your medical report. Good Luck
You are right. I have been on AP since then. I checked with hospital and they confirmed my medical report was sent to the consular office the day after my interview. I wonder how long it takes them to go through the report, today is the 3rd working day since my interview and status still says AP (Although I noticed it changed briefly to Ready for like an hour or so yesterday and then back to AP)

Just curious, why would you go through the strenuous process of getting a visa and not use it? This is probably one of questions that will come from a CO at the visitor visa interview.
Beside the need to show strong ties to your home country, you better have a very strong and convincing reason for the CO on the question above.

@cicis Present and former residents of the United States do NOT need to submit any U.S. police certificates at the consular interview or any other time during your visa application process.
Bring the original police certificate(s) (and court records if applicable) from Guatemalan authorities plus photocopies to your visa interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
You may also need to submit a police certificate from other countries if you: are 16 years or older and currently live in a country other
than Guatemala, or if you lived more than 12 months in any country after the age of 16.
