She is fine with her child and family living in this “non so safe area” but she won’t let you go there to see or visit. Hmmm RED FLAG. Please be mindful. What you ignore today will make itself known load and clear tomorrow. I would insist to meet family. This is someone you intend to marry. I would insist that it is necessary. Good luck.

No you are not selected. Be mindful. Some countries are excluded from the DV all together. Consider it a blessing even being able to apply. 😁

Just gather your documents related to the case. You need to see where it’s at and what is the status. Surely they will want to see court records. Prepare now as if they already sent you an inquiry about it. Best thing to do is be proactive. Best wishes.

Then I would just call them. It's valid until date is meaningless. The Consular Officer only cares that it was issued within their guideline time frame.
Thank you. I appreciate you😃

What is the ISSUE DATE of the police certificate? Do you still live in that country?
It’s issued March 20,2018. It’s for my husband. I’m in the USA. It’s valid 3 months. They mixed up the dates of his passport issuance with the police certificate issue date. I know this because they told me it was issued in July 2016 and that’s his passport issue year.

Received RFE from NVC for police certificate. They said it’s expired but its NOT🤬. Can I send it in again with the same bar code as when I sent the original packet? I have called they said it’s up for supervisor review. Should I wait? Should I just resend it now to avoid delays? Please advise.

I think what is being said is that in this context a Consular Officer IS "the god of this decision". Barring an actual miracle, you are going to be at the mercy of a Consular Officer's judgment call on the public charge concern. That's just how it works. If you want to interpret their decision as "God's will" no matter which way it goes, then "Amen".

God has nothing to do with it. Mostly it comes down to the CO and the consulate or embassy involved. Some require 3 years above the poverty guideline, others are happy with 3 months current income.
God has everything to do with everything. To each his or her own 😀. Thanks for your reply.

Hey guys!
I was just curious about how accurate other people have found Visa Journey's projected timelines from receiving their Noa1.
Was it earlier, on time or later in your experience?
For me it was within 3 weeks of being accurate. Got my approval 3 weeks after prediction.

But you would have provided INFORMATION from three tax returns in order to complete the form itself.
Yes I did. But was just a little concerned about the guidelines. I hope they accept my current income which I provided proof for being over guidelines. I sent work letters, check stubs, transcripts and personal statements explaining everything. May God intervene.

No, it is not my advice that you get "joint sponsor". You will always be THE primary sponsor. Do you not also have a 2015 tax return? Your most recent is the 2017 return filed in 2018. Did you not file a tax return in 2016 for 2015?

Yes I have. I only submitted last two. Since it stated optional for prior years. I thought they only want most recent. The only reason I included two is because the “most recent “ tax year is now for 2017earnings. So I added it. This is all very confusing and I hope it’s over soon with positive outcome for my family. I am a bit worried because I see some being requested to get sponsor even if they are above currently based on their income being below previously. I just want to be prepared. I think they should change the instructions on the form. To state if prior years are below sponsor will be required. That would save a lot of heart ache and stress for many. I appreciate you.

Current income is what is used to meet poverty guidelines, in that if you don't have it, you don't qualify. Having a qualifying income currently is not a guarantee of a positive decision though. The will evaluate the totality of circumstances. You'll be providing evidence of current income and information from three tax returns.
So is it your advice from what you have seen that I should get a sponsor? Trying to avoid any extra wait time. I currently make enough. Have 9 months check stubs and job letter. Along with tax transcripts from 2017,2016.

I need some help from experienced members. What is used to determine if you meet poverty guidelines? Last year was on SSDI and worked part time. Last year is below guidelines. Currently at the same job full time permanent and well over guidelines (3xrequired amount) but last years taxes don’t reflect it. Do I need a sponsor? Please advise

You can file head of household(if you have a qualifying dependent that is NOT your spouse),married filing jointly, or married filing separately but NOT SINGLE.

I'm fairly certain the pay stubs coupled with the tax returns will be sufficient.

If the USC spouse files CR1 petition without foreign spouse signature what will happen?

DO NOT over stay. I see your country appears to be NIGERIA. The immigration process is naturally harder on African countries. Sad but true. Dont risk it. Also once you go back you may not be allowed to visit again once they see you are processing family visa. It's just the truth. Sorry to bring the bad news but you need to know the risk you are taking if you overstay. They could ban you and deny your petition. Especially coming from Africa. Go home and wait it out for the best results.

You can file head of household if you have a dependent other than your spouse, or married filing separately. Either is ok.
