Hey my fionce has an upcoming interview in mumbai. Does anybody have a list of questions that they may ask her at her interview?
Thank you
I cant share any specific question since my wife will not go for an interview until May 24th in Mumbai. But I did want to wish you good luck.
I hope someone does share their experiences since it would be valuable for me also.
Anyway, I hope I can count on you for your expereinces since my wife's case is after yours.

The Ministry of Defence has banned personnel from selling their stories to the media until a review of the rules governing the issue is completed.
Defence Secretary Des Browne said the review was aimed at making rules consistent across the armed forces, and right for a "modern media environment".
It follows a row after two Navy crew members held in Iran sold stories.
Leading Seaman Faye Turney sold her story to ITV1's Trevor Macdonald and the Sun newspaper.
Some of the reported six-figure sum for the interview with Leading Seaman Turney will go to navy families.
Relatives of soldiers killed in Iraq last week have criticised the decision by the Royal Navy to allow the crew to sell their stories.
The mother of Eleanor Dlugosz - the 19-year-old army medic from Hampshire killed - did not criticise the crew, but said her daughter "wouldn't have wanted any monetary gain for herself" for serving in Iraq, "only perhaps donations to Royal British Legion".
Mr Browne said he recognised the dilemma faced by the Royal Navy.
"Should they refuse to give them permission to accept payment, recognising that some of them would find ways to tell their experiences anyway, without the support and advice of their service, and therefore with greater risk to themselves and crucially also at risk to operational security?
"Or should the navy accept that in this particular and exceptional case, and in the modern media environment, they should give permission for these young people to tell their story precisely in order to stay close to them but accepting the consequence of the potential payment involved?"
He said he hoped people would understand it had been "a very tough call" for the navy, but "all of those involved over the last few days recognised we have not reached a satisfactory outcome".
Until there was clear guidance for the future, no further service personnel would be allowed to talk to the media about their experiences in return for payment, he added.
Second Sea Lord Vice Admiral Adrian Johns defended the decision to allow the sale of stories.
"We thought it was very important indeed to let these people tell the story in their own words and through the media," he said.
'Unsavoury' sale
The crew returned to the UK on Thursday after 13 days in captivity
Both of the officers among the captives have said they do not plan to profit from the story.
Lieutenant Felix Carman, who was among those held, defended Leading Seaman Turney's decision to sell her story.
But he added that he found it "slightly unsavoury" that his fellow captives are being paid to tell their story.
He later told Sky News that it was a "shame" that the release of the sailors had coincided with the deaths of four UK service personnel in Iraq.
But, of Leading Seaman Turney, he said: "She has taken the money, she is safeguarding her daughter's future. I would like to see what the critics would do in a similar position."
The Sun newspaper has defended its decision to pay Leading Seaman Turney.
The paper's defence editor, Tom Newton-Dunn, who refused to reveal how much she was being paid, said: "She has a right to do this.
We are a free country. Faye has been through the most extraordinary ordeal, which is clearly graphically illustrated."
Two-week ordeal
In the Trevor Macdonald programme, to be broadcast at 2000 BST on Monday, she defends her decision to sell her story and says a percentage of the money will help the crew and families of HMS Cornwall.
"I was offered a hell of a lot of money for my story. I've not taken the biggest offer, I've gone down...because I wanted to speak to yourself and the Sun because I knew my point would be put across.
"I want everyone out there to know my story from my side, see what I went through," she told the programme.
She also said that there were times during her two-week ordeal when she cried herself to sleep.
Meanwhile Arthur Batchelor, 20, the youngest of the British sailors to be held captive, told the Daily Mirror about his "nightmare" at the hands of his captors and how he "cried like a baby" in his cell.
He told the newspaper: "A guard kept flicking my neck with his index finger and thumb. I thought the worst, we've all seen the videos. I was frozen in terror and just stared into the darkness of my blindfold."

Hey guys,
Just wanted to give you a quick update. If you remember last week, I posted to let you know that my wife got her interview date for May 4th, but that date conflicted with her exams.
I had sent two e-mails to the mumbai consulate to reschedule the appointment. Today, we received an e-mail from the consulate stating that the interview has been rescheduled for May 24th!
Seems like a huge weight has been lifted of our shoulders!
Thanks again for all your support guys!

The team that lost to Canada last time beats South Africa?
Yes, having already beat India a few weeks ago. This team is good.
May as well support the Bangladeshi's with India being knocked out. I mean, you could make the arugment that Bangladesh is just another "state" in India!

A Superman costume worn by Christopher Reeve in the 1978 blockbuster film has sold for $115,000 (£58,000) in a Hollywood film auction.
The sale, put together by the firm Profiles in History, sold more than $2m (£1m) worth of film and TV memorabilia, including scripts and posters.
The Superman outfit was expected to fetch just half the amount it reached.
Other items sold included a Batsuit and an alien costume that was worn in the iconic 1979 movie, Alien.
The Batsuit, which was used in the 1995 film Batman Forever, went for $63,250 (£32,000), with the Alien costume selling for $126,500 (£64,000).
A rare Winkie costume, which was worn in the 1938 movie The Wizard of Oz, was sold for $115,000 (£58,000).

DOES MY WIFE HAVE TO SIGN FOR BOTH PART I AND PART II OR DO I SIGN FOR PART I AND SHE SIGNS FOR PART II.
Jmarwan,
What visa are you applying for? Your profile states "Naturalization" is that true? We need to know exactly what "benefit" you are applying for before we can help accurately answer the question.
For a CR/IR your wife will need to sign the DS230 part 1 for sure. Depending on which country your wife is in, she may need to fill out part 2 (without signinig it) and submit both parts together. DS230 part 2 is always signed in front of the consulor officer during the interview.
Again, please let us know what visa you are applying for, and how far along you have gotten, so that we can provide the appropriate advice.

This is the first opportunity I've had to get on Visa Journey since the visa interview in Bogota, Colombia. We went to Orlando immediately after arriving in the States on our way from Miami to northwest Florida. She got her visa!!! I posted details of the interview in the "Foreign Embassy and Consulate General Discussion" forum. It is posted under the "CR1 Colombia Club." Thanks to everyone for all of their assistance during this process. The people I have met here on Visa Journey have been very helpful and I know things would not have gone so rapidly and successfully without the help I received from this community. Thanks again.
Mark
Congrats Mark. I was looking for an update from you for the last couple of weeks. I assumed all was well, otherwise you would have been on here asking for advise.
Again congrats and good luck for the future!

how much longer??? 1 hour????
Her flight to Peoria has been delayed. It is now scedualed to arrive at 6:15 PM. My biggest worry at this point is she hasn't called yet. It's been 2 1/2 hours since she landed and I haven't heard from her.
Probably a dumb question, but I assume you've told her how to dial out from the airport when calling you right? With the area code etc.. i know that is always an issue when you fly to a new country, and a little detail like that can be very easly overlooked.
Hang in there... it'll all be over soon

Two French hikers who got lost in thick jungle in French Guiana survived for seven weeks by consuming turtle meat, big hairy spiders and river water.
The men were rescued on Thursday, exhausted and dehydrated.
Loic Pillois and Guilhem Nayral disappeared on 14 February, having set off from the Grand Kanori rapids bound for the village of Saul.
Guilhem's brother Gilles said "they ate palm seeds, insects, mygales (big spiders) and two turtles" to survive.
Mr Pillois, 34, emerged at Saul at 1000 (1300 GMT) on Thursday and told the authorities that his friend Guilhem, 34, was about six hours' walk away to the south, the French news agency AFP reported.
Rescuers found him and brought him out by helicopter. One of them, gendarme Martin Andre, said Guilhem was "stretched out on the ground, completely exhausted, very thin, dehydrated".
"When I took him in my arms, he burst into tears," he added.
Mr Pillois confirmed to the French broadcaster RFO Guyane that their jungle diet had included spiders. They had chopped down trees to make a fire.
According to Gilles Nayral, Guilhem had lost about 20kg and he had lost feeling in his tongue "because of the poison from a spider he had eaten without having cooked it enough".
About 40 police and soldiers had searched for the pair for three weeks, on land and by helicopter. The search was suspended on 26 March.
The hikers - who remained in hospital on Friday - had maps and compasses but no GPS navigation.

LONDON, England (CNN) -- The 15 British military personnel captured by Iranian forces in the Persian Gulf were subjected to "psychological pressure" and kept in isolation during their detention, the group's officers said on Friday.
Lt. Felix Carman of the British Royal Navy, addressing a news conference at a military base in Chivenor, southwestern England, said the sailors and marines were well outside Iranian waters when the incident occurred -- despite previous statements to the contrary while in Iranian custody.
"Irrespective of what has been said in the past, when we were detained by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard ... I can clearly state we were 1.7 nautical miles from Iranian waters," Carman said. (Read the full statement)
The sailors and marines, who were seized from patrol boats on March 23, returned to the UK on Thursday after 13 days in Iranian captivity.
Lt. Carman said they were kept in isolation, interrogated and blindfolded, and subjected to "aggressive questioning and rough handling."
Members of the group had been presented with two options, said Lt. Carman: To admit having strayed into Iranian waters or face up to seven years in prison in Iran.
Capt. Christopher Air of the British Royal Marines said they had "feared the worst" during their captivity when they had been bound, blindfolded and lined up against a wall while they heard the sound of weapons being cocked. "There was a lot of trickery and mind games being played," he said. (Watch the sailors describe their experiences in captivity )
Several of the captives appeared on Iranian state television during their detention to apologize for their actions. They were also filmed meeting Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and receiving gifts prior to their return to the UK. (Watch how Iran's PR plan unfolded )
Faye Turney, the one woman among the captives, had been singled out and "used as a propaganda tool," Carman said.
Air praised Turney for maintaining her dignity. He said she had been told the rest of the group had returned home and she was the only one still being held.
Air said a "conscious decision" had been taken not to engage the Iranians who took them captive. (Watch the sailors' denial that they were in Iranian waters )
"It was clear they arrived with a planned intent," said Air. "Had we resisted there would have been a mighty fight that we could not have won and with consequences that would have major strategic impacts."
Air said some of the Iranian sailors had been "deliberately aggressive and unstable."
"They rammed our boats and turned their heavy machine guns, RPG, and weapons on us. Another six boats were closing in on us. We realized that our efforts to reason with these people were not making any headway. Nor were we able to calm some of the individuals down... They boarded our boats, removed our weapons, and steered the boats towards the Iranian shore."
Able Seaman Arthur Batchelor said the 15's treatment by the Iranians had been "humane" but they had not been allowed to communicate with each other.
UK suspends boarding operations
Meanwhile, military sources said on Friday that Britain had suspended boarding operations in the Persian Gulf and launched a review into the circumstances that led to the 15's capture and detention.
A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Defence said a "detailed inquiry" was under way and that debriefings of the group would continue, the UK's Press Association reported.
First Sea Lord Jonathon Band, the head of the Royal Navy, confirmed boarding operations involving British forces had been suspended.
"For the moment we have stopped UK boarding operations," Band told BBC radio. "We will obviously do a complete review."
Band said the review of the incident would consider intelligence, equipment and procedures as well as examining the rules of engagement for British forces operating in the area.
He also defended the conduct of the 15 during their captivity, commenting that their "confessions" to Iranian state media appeared to have been made under "a certain amount of psychological pressure."
"From what I have seen of them on the television and I met them personally when they returned to their families yesterday, I think they acted with considerable dignity and a lot of courage," Band said.
He also rejected suggestions that the patrol had been "spying" and said there was "absolutely no doubt" they were in Iraqi waters.
"We are certainly not spying on them," he said. "The Iranians in that part of Iraqi territorial waters are not part of the scene."
The truth finally comes out

it is a good idea just to use James' shortcuts for the bill since it is so easy to create one - probably will save you 10 days to two weeks and can be mailed as soon as it has been "generated".
Wow, good to see that the dream lives on!
I never thought those shortcuts would still be good two years down the road. It's heartening to know that they're still helping people get out of NVC quickly, though!
James, it's good to see you are still around on VJ. On behalf of all the VJ'rs who have used your shortcut's (including me) I'd like to say a BIG THANK YOU for putting it together!

is there any way to test the barcode, before you send it to NVC/Hi everybody
I Think I we resize 'Barcade' picture it should work OR
it has standard size.
please advise
Raja ,
i didnt do the barcode work otherwise i would have really liked to help you ,
but i will only say one thing if u are not hundred percent sure to generate barcode u can end up delaying the case so pls be careful
tk care,
Mala .
Raja,
No way to "test" it. As long as you've followed the instructions exactly you should be fine. Again, if you are unsure, just wait for the offical bar code to come through the mail.

hello everyone
I have a question for those who all have recived the I-864 package from NVC. I wana know what all is contained in the package and also would like to know the details on how to fill everything. My wife just recived it and wasnt sure what all needs to be done . It also talks about going on the web to complete some of the documents could you guys give me the details please.
thanks
Bsuboyus,
I assume that your wife is the US citizen (the petitioner).
The I-864 packet should have contained a bar code cover sheet, along with instructions on how to fill out the AOS document. The reference to going to the web to complete the documents is specifically refering to downloading the I-864 form from the website. Privously, they used to send the I-864 to the petitioner, now they ask the petitioner to go to the website to download it and fill it out.
There are two types of I-864 forms. The regular I-864 and the I864-EZ. Have your wife look at the I-864EZ form, and if she meets the criteria for using the I-864EZ form, then she should use that. If she doesn't, then she'll need to fill out the I-864 regular form.
If she does not have income over the 125% poverty limit (greater than approx $16,000 I think) than she'll need to get a co-sponser and the co-sponser will need to fill out I-864A.
Your wife will also need to provide supporting documents
Tax returns or transcripts for the most recent tax year (in your case most likly 2006) in addition she may also want to send in transcripts or returns for 2005 and 2004.
W2's to accompany the tax returns.
Last 3 months of paystubs
Letter from Employer stating she is employed with them
Your wife will need to send the I-864, along with the bar code cover sheet, and the supporting documents listed above to the NVC.
Send me a PM if you have any specific questions
Good luck.

First time visajournier----If I have discovered this forum earlier my life would be alot easier. I thas been a full year since I filed the first paper work. Due to some very unfortunate events. Up until now the NVC had just received the DS 230 a week ago. I cant never get thru the phones with them. Can anyone please tell me how much longer I have to wait for the NVC to complete my case. Is the DS 230 the last thing before the interview? Thx
It normally take about 3-4 weeks for the DS230 to be reviewd and approved. I assume that you have also sent in the AOS (1864) form earlier.
I'm not sure what the process is for the Phillipines after NVC approves the documents - whether it's sent to the consulate or if the NVC keeps hold of it until an interview is scheduled. You may want to ask this in the Phillipines forum.
Good luck!

ATHENS, Greece - Archaeologists on a Greek island have discovered a large Roman-era tomb containing gold jewelry, pottery and bronze offerings, officials said Wednesday. The building, near the village of Fiscardo on Kefalonia, contained five burials including a large vaulted grave and a stone coffin, a Culture Ministry announcement said.
The complex, measuring 26 by 20 feet, had been missed by grave-robbers, the announcement said.
Archaeologists found gold earrings and rings, gold leaves that may have been attached to ceremonial clothing, as well as glass and clay pots, bronze artifacts decorated with masks, a bronze lock and copper coins.
The vaulted grave, a house-shaped structure, had a small stone door that still works perfectly — turning on stone pivots.
On a nearby plot, archaeologists also located traces of what may have been a small theater with four rows of stone seats, the ministry said.

Previous excavations in the area have uncovered remains of houses, a baths complex and a cemetery, all dating to Roman times — between 146 B.C. and 330 A.D.
