I have waited for over 6 months for my NOA2, USCIS has passed my date, but yet I have no idea about anything to date. They have not contacted me for anything.
Has anyone experienced this? I know of at least 3-4 people who have filed after me and have gotten their NOA2. My wife is Chinese.
I did have a K1 approved before, but she was a bogus person and left after a very short time.
Sorry to hear about your situation.
Have you tried calling the 1800 # for USCIS? Normally they provide no useful information, but it's still worth a try.
You could also try to check our case status on-line? You'll need to set up a new account with your USCIS case number if you have not done so already. The link is below. It may provide you with some additional information perhaps.

Lastly, you may want to contact your local cogressman/woman's and senator's office and ask them to inquire about your case. I've read of several success stories of people in a similar situation that have contacted thier elected officals.

If you have tax returns for the other 2 years, I would send them. I know it's optional, but I'd rather provide more info than is required.. it does not hurt. It may potentially save you an RFE

I called the IRS asking for my tax transcript. I guess there are more than one type. Do I need the filing transcripts or the income ones? Thanks.

I had the IRS send me tax transcripts and I don't recall the person asking me to choose between two options. Did you talk to someone on the phone or did you go through the automated phone system?
I actually talked to a live operator, and told them I needed my Tax transcripts for immigration purposes for the last three years and that was it. No other questions were asked.

I'm sure someone will sigh when reading this, but the flowcharts and numbers really are confusing to us. We know that the K3 visa interview (once scheduled) is pretty short, maybe a month. What about CR1's? Are they the same wait period when scheduled as K3's? I didn't see any info (like the K3 flowchart) here nore at the embassy site in Manila. Again only non immigrant visa info. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don't believe there is much difference in scheduling the interview for either a K3 or and CR visa. I really think it's first come first serve basis at the consulate.. though I could be wrong. Some consulates are much busier than others so the wait time for an interview may be longer than at an other embassy.
What really shorten's the overall timeline is the amount of time your case is sitting at the USCIS or NVC. It used to be said that I129F were approved faster at USCIS than the I-130's.. but I think there is not much difference there. At the NVC a CR visa sits there for about 3 months before being sent to the embassy, where as with the K3 it only has a short pitstop at the NVC before being sent on to the embassy.

Hi everybody - I have a 2 year residency requirement which I'm currently trying to get a waiver for.
I am also at the point where the NVC sent me the DS-230 for an IR-1. My question is, do I fill out and send the DS-230 or wait for the waiver/end of the 2 yr?
1) If I do send it in, there is a question in there on whether I have the HRR. If I say I do, are they going to reject my petition??
2) If I don't send it in, how long is the case still active? I already paid the fee.
The ideal scenario is I send in the DS-230, then by the time my interview comes around I have my waiver. If I wait for the waiver before filling out the DS-230, I waste 2+ months! On the other hand I don't want to risk my IR1 being rejected - my I-485 has already been rejected due to this HRR!
I was wondering if anybody knows of similar cases. I did do a search but the only cases I saw were for K1s.

I think you have one year from the time you pay the fee to submit the paperwork.

hello all.. i've called NVC yesterday to check on my case and i was told that the I-864 was generated on Feb. 19 and the IV bill was generated on Feb. 12.. now i know that i cannot use Jame's shorcut on the IV bill, but i can do it on the I-864.. since the form has been generated, can i go ahead and send the one that i have already prepared to NVC?

I sent my I-864 to the NVC about a month ago and a couple of weeks ago I received a letter from the NVC saying they were missing the DS-230. My husband sent the DS-230 and they received it on yesterday. I checked the voice recording today and it says they have received the missing information and expect 6-8 weeks for the processing to be complete. Does anyone know if in fact it takes 6-8 weeks for them to review the DS-230 and send the information to the consulate? Does anyone also know how long it takes to get an interview? The thought of having to wait another 2 months is quite depressing, we have already been apart for 8 months. If anyone knows anything pleeeeeeeeeeeeease let me know

Pam,
It will take approx 4 weeks for the DS230 to be reviewd and approved. My DS230 was received by NVC on Jan 22 and it was approved on Feb 20th. The answer of 6-8 weeks is a standard reply by NVC.. don't read to much into it.

Our application was approved on 5th February 2007. The National Visa Center has not received the application yet. How long does it take to go from California to New Hampshire?? I have checked the timelines and have found the average is 1-2 weeks. Should I worry yet? Has anyone else waited 2+ weeks for the apprved application to be received by NVC?
Also, how do I know thy have received the application, other than calling, which I have been doing everyday. Do they email or send a letter?
Since you are doing a K3, which application was approved? Was it the I-130 or the I129F? If it's the I129F you'll have to call NVC and speak to a live person to get status on your case as the automated system does not update I-129F cases. If it was the I-130 your case should be reflected in the automated system. Typically the system is updated every Tuesday. So I would wait until next Tuesday before making any additional inquires

When i go for my citizenship interview they have asked me to take my passort, my passport is from Great Britain. What i am asking is, do they keep it or give it back to you ?
Any help would be great on this, and can i have duel citizenship.

They'll give it back to you. I think they use it for I.D verification and that's all. They have no right to keep your British passport. They certainly did not keep my British passport when I went for my interview.
P.S. The citizenship test is fairly easy.. don't stress it too much! Also, don't plan on taking a trip abroad after the oath ceremony (sp??).. you'll have to hand in your Greencard, and they'll give you your certificate of naturalization. You'll not be able to travel with that certificate abroad, so you'll have to apply for a U.S. Passport which may take several weeks. I made that mistake, and had to drive to Washington DC from Charlotte NC, to get my U.S. passport issued in 2 days, so I could travel to London the following week.

It seems as though NVC has been on a roll recently. Called the NVC today to find my case has been complete. What a hughe relief that is. I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel. Just one more big hurdel to jump and we should be on the home straight!

I think it's the best feeling in the world when the immigration process becomes almost predictable - and then does what you expect
I knew that Monday was a holiday, so the NVC voice system wouldn't update until today rather than Tuesday as usual... so I called this morning and my case was complete!!! I'm so excited
The way things have been working with cases going to Montreal it's actually really possible that we'll have an April interview, which I had totally given up on!! I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much, but thankfully we only have to wait a few weeks to find out.

when I read your post, since I had sent all my doc's in before you, and when I called and talked to the NVC yesterday they said it was still being reviewed. So I called the automated message system this morning and guess what.. MY CASE WAS ALSO COMPLETE!!!! Doesn't it feel good?

It will still take about a month or so for the NVC to review the DS230 and AOS paperwork your father has submited. Once it is approved it will be sent to the embassy in Pakistan. How long it takes from reaching the Pakistan embassy to an actual interview varies for each embassy - depending on how busy they are. At a minimum it will be about 6 weeks.

My last letter from the NVC says that CR-1 but it was mailed out prior to our two year anniversary. Will we still get the CR-1 or will they change it to a IR-1?
Also, does an IR-1 need to be renewed?
They should change it to IR status at some stage prior to the interview. If they have not done so, I would have your wife ask during the interview.
The IR-1 is valid for 10 years.. so technically you'll need to renew it at that time, unless you become a USC before then.

When I first filed my I-130 my wife and I had only been married for a few months. We haven't rushed things and now that my interview is coming up we have been married for over two years.
IF they issue me with a visa will it have the two year conditional requirement attached to it?

You should be an IR status. The paper work that was mailed back to you from the NVC (cover sheets for DS230 and AOS) should have had an IR or CR next to your case number..

She got the CR-1 visa a few weeks ago.
We are waiting to get a passport for the baby, who was born a week later.
How long is the CR-1 good for travel to the US? Is there any limit?
Yes, the visa is only good for 6 months from the date it was issued. If your wife does not come into the USA before that date, the visa will be invalid and you'll have to re-apply all over again.

Pop star Madonna has said she "wants to be like Gandhi, Martin Luther King, and John Lennon".
The 48-year-old made the statement on US radio station Sirius - but added she wanted to "stay alive".
"For me, the best thing in the world is to see something or hear something and go: 'Damn, I wish I did that. That's inspiring,'" she added.
The Material Girl also defended her controversial crucifixion scene in last year's Confessions tour.
"We all need to be Jesus," she said.

The show featured video messages of Aids orphans in Africa.
"Jesus's message was to love your neighbour as yourself and these are people in need," she added, claiming it had not been her intention to be controversial.
"I tried to take a powerful image and use it to draw attention to a situation that needs attention," she said.

do i have to send my spouses: police certificate + birth certificate + any thing else...
I know he has to fill out the application + photocopy of his passport....but what about any other documents that he needs?

I'm going through the Mumbai embassy on a CR/IR1 visa, and for the DS230, all I had to submit was the DS230 part 1 and the photocopy of the passport. Since you are doing a K3 visa, I'm not sure if you need any additional information.

No you do not need to send a passport size picture. All you need is a photocopy of his passport.. the part with his picture, and the bio-graphic page.
