Well, it's going to be a long night ahead for me.

As I type this message, my beloved wife is at the Mumbai consulate for her interview.

It's been a 9 month journey to this point. We've prepared as best we can, but it's all up to the consulate. I just pray we get an officer who is in a good mood!

I'm not going to get much sleep tonight.

I'm a nervous wreck right now. Not being with my wife right now is just killing me. I have no idea when she'll call me, so the not knowing is the hardest thing.

Please pray for us.

What ever VFS did not take that was on the check list, take with you to the interview. If/When they ask for it, show it to them

On 05/21/07 I received the fee bill for the AOS and mailed on 05/22/07. Today I called NVC and they told me that the bill for the DS230 was generared and it will be mail to me. now I 'm confused because I thought that the DS230 bill was going to be generared and sent to me after I mailed the affidavit of support , is this is correct?.

No that is not correct. The AOS and the DS230 Fee Bills follow two independent paths. Once the NVC assigns the case number the AOS fee bill and Choice of Agent forms are sent out. It's only after the Choice of Agent form is accepted by the NVC will the DS230 fee bill be sent out.

haha this post cracked me up! you guys are all so funny!

I just flew into Sanfrancisco on a business trip and the jet lag is killing me.. I'm up at 4am.. and fall a sleep by 8am.. I'd be more than happy to test that theory!

hi everyone
i 'd like to know this...when I-130 is approved and the uscis send package with documents . Do the petioner and the inteding immigrant have to get the forms I-864, DS230 and DS3032 from the internet OR the USCIS will send them ?

In other words, WHICH forms we can't get from the internet and which ones the uscis send them?

I don't think there is a downloadable form for the DS3032 (Choice of Agent). You can actually save some time by e-mailing the NVC with the Choice of Agent. Check out "James's shortcuts" pinned at the top of the NVC forum. If you do e-mail, be sure that the e-mail is from the immigrant spouses e-mail account, and not from the petitioning spouses e-mail. If the immigrant spouse does not have an e-mail account, set one up. I would suggest that the US Citizen spouse be assigned as the Choice of Agent, that way all the documents that would be sent within the US rather than internationally.

But the DS230 and I-864 are downloadable. In fact, when the petitioner receives the I-864 packet from NVC, they do not include the actual form, they instruct you to visit the website and download it from there.

The DS230 (which the beneficary has to sign) will be sent in the packet from NVC. However, to save time, you can have your immigrant spouse print of the application, fill in and sign "PART 1" and keep it ready to go.

James's shortcuts will also be applicable to the I-864 and DS230 as well. Be sure to read them carefully and understand the process and timing before using them.

The shortcuts saved me a couple of weeks.

A Cumbrian couple's wedding plans are all at sea after the prospective bride dumped her fiance's work van, and all his clothes, into a harbour.

Following a pub row, Emma Thomason, 24, of Whitehaven, loaded her boyfriend's van with his belongings, then rolled it off a ramp at the town's marina.

The argument started when Jason Wilson, 24, wanted to stay out with friends and Miss Thomason wanted to go home.

Mr Wilson said his employer had been "very good" about the £15,000 damage

The first he knew of the incident was when he was called by his boss Graham Wilson, 29, who is not related.

The 24-year-old plasterer told reporters: "People had seen the van bobbing around in the water. They called the police, who contacted my boss.

"He was furious, but has been very good about it. I'm very grateful. Emma isn't sorry one little bit. She insists that I am the one in the wrong and that it is all my fault.

"She put every single last item of clothing I had in the back of the van. All I was left with were the clothes I was wearing.

"I haven't told her yet that the wedding is off, but I think she can put two and two together."

Harbour drained

The couple, who have been together for seven years and have two children, had booked a £2,000 Caribbean honeymoon just 24 hours earlier.

Miss Thomason is now on police bail after being arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking without consent.

Police were called to the marina on Sunday night, but it took almost 20 hours to pull the van from the water in a difficult salvage operation, which involved partly draining the harbour.

Mr Wilson's boss admitted he was struggling to see the funny side.

He said: "I'll be asking Jason for an explanation but he's not to blame. She has her own car - why didn't she load his stuff into that and drive it into the marina?

"I just hope the insurance company is prepared to pay out."

We're preparing things for hubby to submit to the VFS office and I'm just wondering if others submitted their evidence of relationship with their things to the VFS office prior to interview or waited until the time of interview to take the evidence with them?Any suggestions would be great.

My wife has her interview next Thursday, and she went to VFS to submit the documets on Monday. She took all the required documents including all the relationship evidence with her.

At the VFS, they only took a handful of e-mails, and told her to bring the rest (Telephone records, Cards, E-mails, Pictures) to the interview itself.

I suggest taking everything to VFS, and they'll decide what they'll take and what you'll need to bring with you.

I am sure there was some doubt as to whether this is still required - can any recent receivers of the AOS pack say for definite whether this form is still included ???
ALSO !!

Has anyone any theories about why the NVC system is like it is ? for instance why don't they take credit/debit cards over the phone and why get the bills paid before they send the forms out ? why not just say 'attach a bankers check for $380'

I have a theory - sometime in the past, their staff were swamped with work so they invented a system to shove the work out into the future and create a waiting line - it took the pressure off but now they are stuck with it. If they just asked you to attach a check to the form it would swamp them again in the short term

second theory - they want to give immigrants breathing time to see if they really want to emigrate

third theory - the USA is a highly neurotic society that lives on vitamin sales etc - they don't want anyone to enter until they have had their head thoroughly messed up by the immigration process and are ready to start buying mental health services on landing

When I got the AOS packet, the Tax Authorization form was not in there. I did not send it and it seems to be O.K with NVC

It's getting better. "We are unable to extend any offer until we have finished all scheduled interviews, but we have a small job that needs to be done; would you be interested in a short-term contact?" Of course I would, it beats staying at home and doing nothing!
