thanks, yes, the shortcuts - do they really save much time nowadays? we've been waiting so long, it feels like that anyway, that if it doesnt save much time, we'll go the standard route. i read the barcode info...and it put me off a bit!!
can anyone do the i864ez as opposed to the i864?

You have to meet certain criteria to use the i864ez. I think a coupel of the top of my head are 1) only sponsoring one person. 2) You meet the 125% of poverty level 3) you are not using a co-sponser

There may be one more, but the full list is on the i-864ez.

P.S. The short cuts could save you about 3 weeks of processing time at NVC. But again only use them if you are 100% comfortable.

Hi, we ot our approval from VT a few days ago. Now, having read the timesavers, Im a bit confused! It doesnt take much to do that!
So, whats the next step in reality? Will my wife, the USC be sent something, or will I receive a bunch of papers? ds 3032?

I printed off the ds3032 and i864 and i864ez too, not sure which of the i-864's to use?

Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks very much

Can you clarify what visa you are applying for? Your signature states CR1.. but your profile states K1.

The documents you refer to are specific for CR/IR1's only.

If you are doing CR1.. here is what happens next.

Vermont will send your application to NVC - may take a couple of weeks. Once there, they'll assign a case number about another week or so. About a week after your case number is assigned, they'll generate the AOS fee bill and also the DS3032 (Choice of Agent).

The DS3032 will be sent to the beneficary, the AOS fee bill will be sent to the petitioner. You can use the short cuts - please refer to them - to 1) send an e-mail to NVC to assign the Choice of Agent and 2) generate the bar code payment slip for the AOS and send the fee before it arrives.

The rest of the steps are described in detail on the short cuts. Read them a couple of time to make sure you are comfortable with what is required and how to complete it

Hi All,

My wife will be coming to Charlotte NC around June 2nd on a CR1 visa.

I've been looking at flights/tickets, and have found a direct flight from Frankfurt to Charlotte (her final destination), which means my wife's POE will be Charlotte. My wife will not need an EAD or anything like that so coming into Charlotte would make the most sense.

I wanted to ask if anyone else has gone through Charlotte as a POE and what their expereince was like. I've heard that since Charlotte is not a busy "international" airport, that the Immigration/Customs officers have a lot of time on thier hands, and as such my wife may be scrutinized a lot more than at a NYC/CHICAGO/ATLANTA POE.

Any thought's, advice, or suggestions would be greatly appriciated.

So I was looking into Tickets for my wife and spoke to a Lufthansa representative.

I asked if there were any "special" requirments since my wife will be traveling from Mumbai to Frankfurt and then into the USA. I was told that since my wife has an Indian passport, that she may need a "Transit" visa for when she lands in Frankfurt.

I told them that she's coming on an immigration visa, but were adement that she needed one.

Can anyone shed any light on this if you happend to go through Frankfurt?

Hello friends,
I'm going to face the big day next week may 3rd in Chennai consulate.

All my papers are submitted at VFS last week, and now I have to get the medical done on monday.

All of you were a real help for me to reach so far in the journey..

I will post my experience by the end of next week.

Hi All,
My wife's K3 was approved on Apr 12th. I am in the process of gathering all the documents for Packet 3. My question is can I schedule medical appointment in New Delhi before receiving Packet 3 or medical comes in the picture later?

I think the medical will come later in the picture. Not sure about K3, but for my wife's CR1, she needs to take the Interview appointment letter at the time of her medical interview. Since the interview appointment letter is received as part of Packet 4, she couldn't do it any earlier.

My wife is applying in Mumbai, and she has scheduled her medical 2 days before the interview, and will take the results with her to the interview.

Go to "My assistant" you find there what you looking for

Just to clarify and elaborate on MaydayDas's comment.. go to "My Assistant" click on "Edit forums signature" Fill in your timeline info and you'll be good to go.

Also, you should go to Edit/Add my timeline, and make regular updates there as well, as this information is used in calculating the estimated time lines.

Quick question:
Can my fiancee hand over the document directly at the consulate window instead of mailing it? If yes, what is the process.

I don't believe you can. I have not heard of any K1/K3/CR-IR1 visa applicant going directly to the embassy (New Delhi) or any of the consulates to hand deliver documents.

Others from India may want to chime in, if this is not the case.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: I was going through the list of people below, and kept wondering why there were so many folks that based on timelines should be much further along than they are. What I found was that many of them are actually going through the K3 process rather than CR/IR1.

I have made an exectuive decision to remove those folks from this list, so it better reflects timelines of those going through only a CR1/IR1 process. I made the decision on who is going through a K3 by looking at their timelines and if they had filed for both a I-130 and an I-129F that means they are doing K3.

I know I have too much time on my hands to go through this excersice, but I figured it would accurately reflect timelines for CR/IR1's.

I hope everyone agrees with this approach. If not, I'm sorry. Below is a list of the folks I removed.
