Awesome! We fly to Montreal on Monday. Medical appt. on Wed. and interview on the 13th. What questions did they ask you? And did you need photocopies of everything, or did they have them already from NVC? Probably going to bring them just in case, but sounds like they don't really need them.
Nice! They asked me how we met, when we got engaged, how long I have stayed when I visited, and what we both do for work. They asked for the originals of everything - birth, marriage, police, taxes, affidavit, medical, 2 passport photos.

Congrats! Are you staying in Montreal to get your Passport back?
Thanks. No, I signed up for a courier service. And I'm in Ottawa anyway, so if I need to I can just drive over and get it.

Hey guys. Just had my interview today in Montreal. It was a long wait but the interview part was at most 10 minutes and super easy.

I believe Medysis in Montreal is 450$, but add on depending on what vaccines you need to get or renew. My husband called and said it can get up pretty expensive around $1,000 with the checkup and all the shots. Make sure you have your vaccine records so you know which vaccines you need.
& there is a immigration fee... USCIS Immigrant Fee and is $220 that you must pay after you received your visa and before you travel to the United States.
Does anyone know how to register for courier services so they can mail visa/passport back? Or is our addresses already on file? I tried to register in the Montreal pdf and Im abit confused.
You will get an email with a link to register your interview and a courier service. I got it a couple days before my interview. You can probably google it, too.

Oh, that makes me so happy! Good luck with the medical and I'll be thinking of you on the 31st.
Thank you! I have booked my medical for next week, and I am sure it will go well. I have all my vaccinations. I just need 5 passport photos. And my pharmacy is faxing over my list of meds to the doctor.

Well, I’m waiting to hear about my interview in my cottage with no heat source but at least I’m not expecting. I’m 2 and a half weeks behind you so it’s heartbreaking to me that you haven’t heard yet. That means I’ll definitly be well into November just for the interview. Looks like i’ll Be couch surfing for a month once the lake freezes.
Now I’m wishing more for you to hear Bethany than I am for myself.
I got my interview date for October 31st!!

Good day, all. I was wondering if at the interview the person will know your travel history? Will they know how many times you visited your spouse and how long, or will you need to bring information for them to see? Thanks.

Question...
I submitted all my documents to CEAC on August 23rd. Exactly two weeks later (Sept 6th), they reviewed my documents and said my birth certificate wasn't the right one. I had already ordered the right version online because @Meghan&Gene was kind enough to share her experience with me and she ran into the same issue. Finally it came in the mail on Tuesday, September 11th and I uploaded it to CEAC the same day and clicked "Submit." Now, I'm waiting for them to review it so I can get my case complete date and be added to the line to wait for an interview. Does anyone know how long it usually takes for them to review a re-submitted document? I expected to be quicker than 2 weeks, but maybe I just went back in the line and it'll be around 2 weeks again. I guess if it's 2 weeks, I should have case complete around this upcoming Tuesday or hopefully before or right after!
I had the exact same problem. I submitted my card birth certificate not realizing I had needed the long-form. I waited 5 weeks for it to come in the mail. They accepted it the day after I submitted it and my case was then complete (July 26th).

Do we need original Birth certificate of Petitioner as well? I think only copy is needed.
For Montreal, you need either a copy of the petitioner's birth certificate or passport...something to prove their citizenship.

Married couples cannot file as single. It's either Married Filing Jointly or Married Filing Separately or Head of Household (with a non-spouse dependent in the household).
Okay, well then the return was bigger having filed married jointly than if he had filled the other ways. I didn't know the proper lingo.

Curious if anyone else is in the same boat as me. I'm Canadian and I overstayed in the US during the process, but not long enough to warrant a ban (I know the laws). I am waiting on my interview to be scheduled now and was wondering if my having overstayed may affect my interview? Thanks.

I don't know anything about transferring a case, but mine is with Montreal. I received my case number May 10th and have been waiting for an interview date since July 26th. Montreal seems to be taking at least 6 weeks to assign an interview date.

- He can include you in 2018 tax year (and of course 2019 tax year). While he files his tax return in 2019 (before April 15 I assume), he must send his tax file by mail including your passport or some certificate of authentic copy to obtain your ITIN (Form W-7). Good news: government allows a very good deduction for jointly-married for 2018 tax year!
- On the insurance, probably: no. He should ask his employer's HR if he gets his insurance from employment. My HR said that once my wife got her SSN# , they would add my wife. Otherwise, no. Anyway, adding additional one to insurance policy costs money so I there is no point to add you if you are not in US.
This is what my husband and I did. I am Canadian, he's American. We filed in April and the tax return was much bigger than if he had filed single.

Hello Everyone!
I have an Interview at US Embassy Islamabad in less than a month. I have 2 questions. Your help will be greatly appreciated:
1) I didn't get any Letter in mail regarding Interview Appointment. I just got an email from NVC telling me about my about my Interview appointment details. Does that email considered as Interview Appointment letter? and I need to print that email to show for Medical Examination and at Embassy at time of Interview?
2) We uploaded my spouse's tax returns on CEAC. Do I need to take her original tax returns to an Interview or can I just print out her scanned documents? or it has to be originals and I should ask her to send me Originals by Fedex/DHL?
Thanks
The email should suffice, since that is all you were given. As for the tax returns, they don't have to be the originals. The only original documents needed are the civil documents (marriage, birth, etc). Best of luck!

Yes it is!!! I feel like my life is on an indefinite hold and who knows when it ends!?!? I wish the NVC or the consulate would give some sort of information so that it wouldnt feel like we are in the dark.
ill certainly post when I hear something!
Definitely. I'm 6 months pregnant so I am eager to have this baby in the States, with my husband! I'll also update as soon as something happens.

I’m an IR!but not too sure of the others. Usually you can click on the profile and see the category of each individual.
Ive been trying to read other visa journey sites but haven’t seen any other consulate dates given since that last July 21st date last week. Anyone else seeing anything or have any insight?
Haven't seen anything, either. I'm July 26th so I was pretty disappointed that I didn't get it last Friday. This is agony!

I just noticed that the Montreal checklist doesn't ask for the confirmation page of the DS-260 or a copy of the receipt of fees paid. Is this not necessary as it's a pivot country?
I'm going to include it with mine. Better to be safe than sorry.

Our lawyer called us today to inform us that, effective September 10, all visa applicants in Montreal must submit a fingerprint-based Privacy Act Police Certificate. My husband’s interview is scheduled for September 18, so he’s scrambling to get this document ASAP. Is anyone else aware of this new requirement? NVC doesn’t even seem to know about it. If you have an upcoming interview, please look into this:
I just read up on this. Are you sure this applies to people whose cases are complete? If NVC accepted our other police certificate, shouldn't we bring in that same certificate to the interview? It doesn't make sense to me to get another certificate that won't even match the one we sent to NVC...

A few people got their interview dates yesterday for Montreal. Their CC's were around July 10-21. I'm July 26th at 7 weeks, 1 day now and still (im)patiently waiting.
