  1. Thanks everyone for the help throughout this journey, it's been such a fantastic melting pot of information and help.

Love the special community we have here!

We got approved today this morning at the US Embassy London, it's been a long road but I am extremely humbled privileged for this opportunity.

Onwards to stalking CEAC for the next week or so until it's issued.

Glad to see so many of you already enjoying your next chapter in life, and to those still working through the system, the beacon of light is shining not far away.

  2. Hi @Salty2305 @PygmyPuff @S*UK @_Mia_

Wondering if you UK'ers could help.

I've finished collecting all the paperwork up for my K-1 and ready to schedule an interview at the London Embassy.

Did you guys submit an application of readiness before booking an interview. I see some of you have and some didn't. (Packet 3 sent)?

The Instructions here doesn't mention anything https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/applying-for-the-visa/

But I found this link and wasn't sure if I still need to do this ahead of booking the appointment?

    https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/immigrant-visas-notification-applicant-readiness-form/.

Would you mind sharing with me if you did this step ahead of booking your appointment or not.

    Thanks,

    Sunj

  3. Thank you @trudi & @Wuozopo.

Very helpful as always Wuozopo. Agree, looks like they've updated it to reflect to your point people coming without the medical sorted before the interview.

Thankfully that's all done and be received by the embassy for myself, so based on the new 4 steps I'll go ahead an directly sign up and book an interview through the system.

I think you're right I was hunting around for where that link was displayed and I can't find any place that it references it, I think like you say it's an old link left active by webmaster.

Thank you again for your reply.

    Regards,

    Sunj

  4. Hi All,

I was wondering if you could shine some light on this...I'm applying for a K-1 visa at the US London Embassy.

I've now gathered everything together ready for the interview, do I need to complete this form below  "Notification of Readiness" before scheduling an appointment , I've seen a few UK's not do this based on their timelines but wanted to check this was still relevant before going ahead and booking.

    https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/immigrant-visas-notification-applicant-readiness-form/

    Thanks,

I'm also a start of June filer - do you think its reasonable to be planning on making move by end Jan 2018?

    Hi @Tim & Tiff

Not ambitious at all. Once you receive your NOA-2 and NVC has processed a case number it's actually move very fast and it's all in your control how fast it goes. I would consider collecting as much of the documents as possible as soon as you get your NOA-2 or even now start considering where and what to get in order for you to make the best use of your time and speed up the process further.

Worth looking ahead at what is required for the interview: https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/required-documents/

I'm pending a foreign police clearance record which will get sent directly to the embassy which has slowed me up by around a month due to processing, but if that wasn't in the way I feel we would have closed and had the interview already.

The embassy is open for most of December also which is in your favour, only closing for a few days across the festive period.  Best of luck on your journey, and hope you hear back on your approval shortly.

    Best,

    Sunj

  6. I'm a K-1 April filer, it took us around 3 weeks for processing end to end.

After around a week we got the case number by calling up NVC, then you can track it on the CEAC tracker, once it's in Transit the US Fiance gets sent a confirmation letter from NVC and around 2/3 days after the case has landed in London and the CEAC tracker changed to ready you'll receive your Packet 3 in a brown envelope.

In then mean time you can prepare documents and schedule a medical appointment as you have the NVC number.

    Hope this helps, @AZSunshine78

  7. Thanks so much! Good to hear they processed it with the doc's listed :)

Best of luck also, appreciate the response!

    Hello sunj!

You actually provided more documents than I did so you’re good to go. The Hongkong Police issued me the Certficate of No Criminal Conviction with only the NOA2 and NVC letter I included in my application and full set of fingerprints.

    Good luck!

  8. Hi both,

I have just sent of for my HK Police Certificate Yesterday. I'm filing for a K-1.

I Included a bunch of documents as evidence as i'm not able to get the Embassy to write a specific letter. But within my HK pack i submitted:

    -NOA-2 Letter

-NVC Letter (Just like the above) from my Fiance, clearly stating the embassy, case number, approval etc

-Packet 3 letter from the UK/US Embassy stating the case was received and we need to prepare documents

-A Copy of the checklist of documents needed for the interview, highlighting the 'Foreign police certificate' section.

    -Fingerprints

-3 x HK Forms (Data collection, consent, application form)

    -Cheque for 210HKD

-Cover Letter explaining all the above and again iterating the need to send it to the US London Embassy,

I hope all the above satisfies the production of the certificate. :)

Sad to hear it took the maximum 6 weeks to reach there, was hoping they'll be efficient as always and complete the production within the 4 week period.

Hope this is helpful is some way or for future readers.

  9. Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone could share any experience on this...

I am required to obtain a Hong Kong Police Certificate as I have lived there for over 2 years.
The Hong Kong Police Dept is requiring a written letter from the US embassy stating the request for the police certificate and the reason for the request (Fiancé K-1 purposes) along with my case number and full name.

Does anyone have any experience in getting the London US Embassy to write a bespoke letter for them to obtain foreign police certificates?

HK wont issue the release of it unless the letter is as above. Some people have reported that a Packet 3 letter and a Embassy Checklist wont suffice with them and they require the bespoke letter.

Thanks in advance for any help,

    Sunjay

I had the interview today: Approved

It was the simplest 'interview' i've ever had in my life. It was even more painless than the medical (excuse the pun) - and that was a breeze. I guess they really do just use the time and money to test out the 'strength' of these relationships. Seems pretty ridiculous.

For those in the UK, i'll write a full review on the UK portal tomorrow :)

Nice on @S*UK! Many congratulations to you both! Glad & reassuring to hear your experience with the UK system is smooth.

They are from Hong Kong and Singapore and you have to have something from the Embassy to get them from what I understand.

Hey @Keith & Monica. Congratulations on the interview glad it all went well for you both, apologies for the 221G, hopefully it'll be something that can be fast to get.

I also have to request a Hong Kong Police Certificate as I lived there for 3 years. They only deal direct with the embassy on this, did you guys send of for it when you got your Packet 3 letter and awaited around 4 weeks? Just wanting to see if they aren't for filling the 4 week period due to delays or for other reasons as i'm soon approaching sending this off. It could also be because of mid-autumn festival recently that could have delayed it due to a week's worth of holiday?

    Thanks,

    Sunjay

I booked my medical as soon as I received the case number and the interview as soon as the case tracker changed to ready, fully prepared to just take the ds-160 confirmation page and/or a print off from the tracker but I did receive a letter in the post on Saturday I believe from the embassy saying I had been approved to book an appointment and it contained a copy of our I-129f form. I used that letter today at Knightsbridge and will use again next week at interview.

A good tip for the medical as well is to just put all of your documents into an envelope. I bought a portfolio folder, set out all documents in the order they were listed on the confirmation email to then have to remove them all to be photocopied and handed back in a complete jumble haha no point wasting your time if you don’t need to.

That's great tips, thanks so much @Salty2305!

Great to see you got a letter from the Embassy, I ask because I wanted to make sure you needed it for the medical and also because I require it to get a Hong Kong Police Clearance Certificate, they won't issue it unless they have a copy of the letter by the London Embassy, so i'll have to wait out for that. But glad that you got one and that they still do produce paper documents in a timely manner.

Great tip about the documents though, on the other hand shame about the ordering hah!

So me and my little one are waiting for our coach home after a very long night and day. Thankfully once we dealt with the snotty receptionists at Knightsbridge, the doctors and nurses were amazing! So friendly and calming, really made the effort to make you feel comfortable. Weirdly the guy who did my chest x-rays had just come back from a holiday in the town I live yesterday. It’s a small word here.

Anyway long story short, medical is done and as long as bloods and sample are good, good to go  B-)

Great Job @Salty2305. Glad it all went well and from the sounds of it the doctors are much more understanding.

Just out of interest as i'll hopefully be booking an appointment once my NVC bits come through, did you ever receive a Packet 3 email or letter from London and were you required to present this at your appointment with Knightbridge today.

Another step closer, great stuff! Enjoy the trip home!

  14. Hello All,

Quick question on this thread. I'm wondering if you could help make sure what I have is correct.

My Fiancé has completed the i-134, however we both lived abroad for 3 years so her US Tax's show $0, however we have been earning foreign income well over the minimum requirement. My Fiancé moved back to the US in February where she has since been working for a US Company full time earning 90K+, we have got her employment letter, pay stubs and also her bank account statements showing she has money to be able to support me. I have all the tax documents from abroad showing she was earning and paid off all outstanding tax.

Would the embassy have an issue with her tax transcripts saying $0 even though she officially earn't abroad, or shall I seek a co-sponsor?

    Thanks.

  15. Congratulations @cameradiary great news!

@Melodica256 Hey fellow Londoner, I also am still awaiting to hear back anything, I’m in a similar scenario as you, nothing has been heard, no RFE or NOA-2. Hold tight, I know how it feels...try filing a congressional inquiry with you local representative and see if that channel works, we’re currently going down that route whilst waiting. Hopefully both our cases get looked at soon. Don’t feel alone, we’re all hear for you. 😊

Hi guys i just have a question for fiance visa do we need to do form I-134( affidavit of support) i never did and my fiancé is scheduled for interview next week already

    Hi @dee-ar

Your fiance requires the i-134 documents for the interview to show evidence of not becoming a public charge to the US gov.
It would be wise to send these to her ahead of the interview through expedited means to ensure they arrive before her interview.

Sorry to hear you're still waiting! Have you had any luck with a congressional inquiry?

Thank you @Salty2305, We filed the congressional inquiry late last week and followed up yesterday, they're yet to touch it as they're waiting on the consent form which is in transit in the post. Once they have it they'll try to help, hopefully it'll arrive today at their office. :)

I can't imagine how difficult it is for you guys to stay positive! The waiting sucks.

Have you thought about contacting the congress office? Our congressional inquiry was submitted on the 5th September and we were approved 2 days later, may have just been a coincidence though. It definitely helps your state of mind to know you have someone helping you though.

    Good luck!

Thanks @Salty2305 much appreciated for your kind words and advice.

We have filed a congressional inquiry a day or so ago now. Hopefully things move along soon...

Look forward to seeing your journey progress especially as i'll be going via the London Embassy too.

Many congratulations @Estibaliz fantastic news, wishing you and Gary all the best!
