If he's going by train or car and if Sweden still has the ID controls on the border then he just uses his passport when entering Sweden. On the way back to Denmark he won't need anything.

Not sure how it works with flying if he intends to take a flight to Sthlm, he might need his Danish ID/driver's license then as he won't get his passport back after the interview.

He needs to stay long enough to attend the interview, that's it.

Them keeping the passport is a very good sign, so hopefully they do. Yes once the visa is issued it'll be glued to one of the pages in his passport, then the passport along with the sealed envelope will be sent to him.

There won't be any fee that needs to be paid at the time of the interview. There is a $265 visa fee though, it'll be paid when he schedules his interview after he receives the email/checklist from the embassy.

    Hi everyone!

Called the NVC today and they've received our petition!  And the case number is assigned !!

I looked at the tracker, and got a little bit confused.
"Please follow the instructions you received from the National Visa Center (NVC) that list the six steps you must take before NVC can schedule your visa interview appointment. This includes submitting to NVC various fees, forms and documents. Once NVC has received all the required items, they will let you know if anything is missing or incomplete."

Could someone help me with a couple of questions I have:
The tracker links to this page here https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/approved/contact.html but these seem to be unfamiliar instructions (something about assigning an agent?). I'm assuming that these are bunk and relate to other visas, right? I have the I-134 and the supporting evidence, the updated letter of intent, copy of the i-797 approval all ready.  Is it time to send it out?  Should I be sending anything else? When should we submit the DS-160? Should we wait until my fiance receives instructions from them or can we do it now? Should we only schedule the doctor appointment once he gets instructions from the embassy? I know the fee for the DS-160 is $265.  Are there any other ones, aside from the doctor's fees, for the interview? What sorts of things will my fiance need to send to the embassy before we can schedule the interview, if anything?  I read in a couple of posts that you needed to send stuff away after you receive Packet 3? Do you only need to go to the embassy for the interview or to come back later when the visa is ready?  Do they keep your passport until the visa is issued?  Do they mail you the visa?  (My fiance lives in Denmark, so the interview will be in Sweden -- we're wondering how long he'll need to stay in Stockholm to attend the interview process). Thank you in advance!!

Wishing you all speedy wait times.

Congrats on the visa approvals guys @Rev and @Estibaliz
Thanks for the well wishes @AnJ Co but yesterday was just my Medical exam! I've got another 3 weeks until my interview

I didnt have chance to post yesterday, it was such a long day. I left the house at 8am to head down to London for a 15:10 medical appt. I didnt arrive home until 23:00. CRAZY and tiring.

Heres a detailed summary for those UK filers still to do the medical:
I got the train to London at arrived at Euston at 13:10 with 2 hours to spare (incase of delays). I walked from Euston to Oxford Street to pass some time. The walk took 30 mins but the weather was fine out. From Oxford Street, knightsbridge is only a 10 min walk. I arrived outside at 14:50 and pressed the button on the wall for flat 4 (medical centre). They let me in and the door to enter knightsbridge is to your right. The ladies on reception were very nice and told me since I was early to take a seat and come back to the desk 5 mins before my appt time. I returned, handed them all my documents (pictures X4, medical questionaire, vaccine records, patient care summary, police certificate, passport and letter from NVC). They handed me a clipboard with two forms to fill out (basically a repeat of what I already gave them, *sigh*) and a urine sample pot and bag to place it in. After filling that out I waited for ~15 mins before being called to x-ray. Very striaghtforward, take off top, stand against x-ray board and get dressed again. She said all was fine and to sit back in the waiting room. About 5 mins later the nurse called me in to discuss my vaccines. This literally took 30secs since I didnt need any vaccines doing. She explained I would receive a form at the end for my AOS (as people have mentioned on here). Now here comes the long wait ... over an hour later, I was called to see the doctor. A very nice Eastern Asian looking man. He appologised for the wait and told me that the patient before me was quote *a very, very complicated case*. He put me at ease right away by making a couple of jokes. I signed some forms and he worked out my BMI. I sat on the bed and read the bottom line of the opticians board. He checked my knee-jerk reflexes, loked over my hands and arms, in my eyes, ears and mouth and told me to lie down. He took my BP, HR and commented on how fast my heart was beating (LOL). Took some blood and asked me to unbutton my shirt. He pushed on my stomach and checked my lungs using a stethoscope. AND THAT WAS IT! A TOTAL OF 10 MINS! He then commented ... 'you're the quickest case I have done today, thank you' and told me I was all done. In total .. 20 mins in with doctors/nurses/xray and 1 hour 30 in the waiting room.

** a quick comment for all those who may be worrying about this: I had a previous 'serious problem' listed on my patient care summary. It clearly states in the knightsbridge email that you have to bring reports for this. I did not take any reports (didnt know where to even begin looking). The doctor simply mentioned - ahh I see you had gall stones and had your gall bladder removed at age 17. I said yes and he said thats fine. I would imagine for something more permenent - epilepsy, HIV, diabetes, MS etc you would need these reports. But for something not ongoing dont worry yourself about getting medical reports. You'll be fine with the patient care summary.

Sorry for the long post haha. But hope this helps someone and im glad its over with.

At least USCIS petition has an expiration date so they are not supposed to keep us forever at NVC status.

Ha my Mum just came into the library and said to me hmmm we should put you and Chris in the newspaper. I said for what and she said your engagement I really should have done this months ago but it can be used as evidence of a relationship. I laughed and said that and finally everyone in our small village will know I am engaged. Some are still only finding out which is hilarious. Yes my Mum runs the weekly newspaper in my village. It has been in our family for 115 years.  And yes it will stay in the family as my brother-in-law and sister are going to take it over when my Mum retires.

    Hi guys!
just a quick update about our journey.
    POE - JFK-20.09-yesterday evening
First immigration officer took my passport and the sealed envelope, asked about our wedding plans and was respectful. after he told me he will walk me to the back office for some paperwork and about half way another officer took my papers and passport. this one as soon as he saw my country of citizenship exclaimed ''oh so many k1 visas today from Romania , what are you girls doing over there ?? you getting husbands on sale?'' i was not expecting this and replied smiling '' oh no , we have nothing to do with trade and commerce'' and he continued saying ''you girls must be getting them on sale'' seriously? after 2 years and a half of relationship , flying average 2 times per month to US to see my fiance ( thanks to my previous job ) , someone out of nowhere asking me this....
next he took me to the back office and after waiting no more then 5 min I heard my name called and I ve been handed over my passport with the stamp . I said '' good evening and thank you '' and when I wanted to ask something another ''lady'' over there sharply and angrily cut my words by saying ''you can ask your lawyer!!!''
i said ''ok thank you very much '' and walked out... i don't have a POE picture coz I was not in the best mood, I never been treated with so much disrespect in my entire life and I lived abroad for the past 5 years. Some people are very frustrated, uneducated and jealous for reasons I cannot imagine and won't even bother.
    all the best my friends!!

Here is what I did and it was fine.
I had read somewhere that a letter from your bank was needed to go with the I-134 so I also included that.

I know there has been talk about what people have taken for interviews and what should be taken and this is what my F took:
    From me:
Stuff that I mailed (because of wet signatures) also I used DHL so it would get there in lightning speed time -2 days to be exact- and to make sure that it did get there since these are very important documents. Also, I included 2 of everything just in case and kept one of everything for myself just in case and they ALL had wet signatures:
certified divorce decree (a copy was not good enough- I had to go to the courthouse and get this) letter from HR letter from bank I-134 updated letter of intent to marry (I added much more to mine to mine explaining our wedding plans and details)       Stuff that i put in a file and emailed to him to make the mailed envelope lighter and cheaper:
bank statements w-2's from last 3 years pay stubs for the last 4 months wedding dress receipt room confirmation (for wedding and honeymoon) plane ticket confirmations for all who are attending our wedding in FL work leave request and approval for wedding/honeymoon dates I-797 Letter from NVC From him:
he took a LOT of skype screen shots for proof of ongoing relationship (way more than I had submitted which was only 20) more photos - like 5 more different ones (and we do not have pics of us with the others family because we have never met the others family in person since we went to Mexico to meet in person) 7 passport photos (for medical and interview... maybe it was 5- i can't remember now =/) Vaccination records police certificate sealed envelope from the medical place original and certified? copy of his birth certificate proof of his payment the DS-160 number (I didn't do that so, I am not sure what that was called) The embassy already had the packet that I had sent to Texas on March 31st so there was no need to take anything that was already included in that.
I can't remember anything else, but I am sure there was more. We made sure to have more than enough so there would be no problems and there wasn't! It did not matter that we had only met one time in Mexico. I did not send tax transcripts either.
At the medical they asked him for his A number which he couldn't find and when I told him where it was and he gave it to them, they said that wasn't the right number and ended up writing down the case number that was assigned from the NVC so that was kind of weird. And then at the interview they did ask him a LOT of things... like a LOT! I was surprised at how much they asked him.
A bit of advice for anyone who is doubting anything that needs to be taken... if you are unsure of something... just take it. You could never have too much and it is better to be safe than sorry.
Anyhow, this is what we did and got approved.
Hope this was helpful for any who are not sure about things.
