I-130 doesn't REQUIRE capital letters, just typed or printed in blank ink.

I don't recall getting a blue sheet of paper (but I may have), but mine was processed electronically. This was how my POE went...

I approached the Customs Officer and handed him my passport open to my visa.

Me: Hi, I'm activating my immigrant visa.
Customs Officer: You have a visa?
Me: Yes, this is my first time crossing with it.
Customs Officer: Do you have your packet?
Me: I'm part of a pilot program. It's supposed to have been uploaded to you electronically.
    Customs Officer: ...
Neighboring Customs Officer: We got an email about that. (jokingly) They said we wouldn't be seeing much of it.
    Customs Officer: Come with me.

The Customs Officer led me to secondary where I was instructed to sit in a waiting area. 5-10 minutes later, I was called to the counter and given my passport. The processing was complete at that point, and I was free to go on to my gate.

If you don't mind me asking, where in the US will you be shipping to?  I may be able to get you in touch with a good resource to help you with your shipment.

Your best bet is to open a UPS account for your location in the United States and process the shipping labels from that address as an import.  This will give you more control of the shipments once you enter the United States and will allow you to deal with the US customs and customer service.  You will need to produce the commercial invoices and attach them to the boxes so that UPS is aware of the belongings inside the shipments.  You can handle all of this on UPS.com by creating a login ID and new account number with the address of your US location.  I would contact UPS customer service and ask them to have your local representative reach out to you once you create the account.  They will be able to help you with any questions that you have as well as possibly offer shipping discounts for your imports.  Below are links to some international tools on UPS.com that will help walk you through the shipment as well.

Hi all, I am about to submit my IV package at NVC (IR1/CR1 visa), and my Canadian spouse got her police clearance certificate from the Toronto Police Service. She ordered it online from here: https://www.torontopolice.on.ca/background-checks/criminal-record-check-process.php

    This is the pertinent text:

She did not do fingerprints. She has no criminal history. Will this be sufficient for NVC/IV processing?  Has anyone submitted something similar?

Go to the NVC wiki and start obtaining documents you don't already have.  For example, the Indian Birth Certificate, if not in English, would need to be accompanied by a certified translation.  If she lived in any other country besides Canada since her 16th birthday, obtain the police report from that/those countries.

Read through the instructions for the I-130 (https://www.uscis.gov/i-130), the guide here (http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide1) is helpful but it is a little out of date since the form was updated earlier this year. The biggest change in the process was that the G-325A's are no longer used, and an I-130A must now be completed to accompany the I-130.

Mostly you will just need to help make sure your SO has the correct information to fill in the forms (I-130 and I-130A). They used to require two identical color passport-style photos of you (taken within 30 days of when you file); however, the new instructions seem to suggest that this isn't required if you are not in the US, but if you can I would suggest including them to be safe. The guide also says that a birth certificate of the intending immigrant is no longer required; however, several of us have recently gotten RFE's from USCIS specifically asking for this. Therefore, I would recommend that you also provide a copy of your birth certificate if you can (remember to have it translated if necessary), even if you don't include it with the I-130 you will need a copy (with translation) later on in the process).

Here is a list of the documents that are required or that you guys should think about including (text in bold is stuff that you can probably help the most with):
G-1145 - this is optional, but it is good to include so that they will notify you when they receive the packet Personal check or money order for the fee payment Cover letter describing what is being petitioned for and the documents being provided - optional but recommended I-130 Citizenship/permanent residency evidence for your spouse Copy of your birth certificate (with translation if not in English) - as mentioned above this is not listed as a requirement, but several of us have recently received requests for this for our cases and I would recommend including it Copy of your marriage certificate (with translation if not in English) 2 passport-style photos of the petitioner (the US citizen or permanent resident) - see instructions for how to label, etc. 2 passport-style photos of the beneficiary (the intending immigrant) - see instructions for how to label, etc.; seems to be optional if you are not in the US, but if you can it would be good to include (possibly send your spouse a digital file and they can print it out themselves) I-130A Evidence of a bonafide marriage - both the online guide and I-130 instructions provide lost of examples of potential evidence; since you are not in the US you may not be able to produce many of them but try to provide what you can, such as airline tickets and other evidence of travel together, photographs are fine to include but are not considered to be strong evidence (when including pictures, if possible, try to include pictures of both of you with friends and family of both of you) Also, I have assumed that neither of you have been married previously. If either of you have then you also need to provide evidence of divorce or death of the prior spouse(s).

G325A is needed if you use the pre-2017 I-130 form.  If you use the 02/2017 version of I-130, G325A is combined into the new I-130 (which is why it's so long): http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/628526-2017-checklist-for-cr-1ir-1-spouse-i-130/

I too had an opportunity to get married in a civil wedding 8 months before my church wedding.  We didn't do it and we wish we did.  The reason being that after we were married it took 4 months to gather the paperwork and submit the application.  For example it takes 1 month (in Nova Scotia ) to get a marriage license issued and that is after the paper work is delivered and processed by vital stats....so read here 2 plus months.  My passport was due to expire 4 months after my wedding, so once we received the marriage lic, I changed my name on my  DR lic and applied for a new passport.  This was a good thing in my opinion as my whole visa app was in my married name, no need to fuss with a name change later.  Just my 2 cents...go for the civil wedding.

    Good luck on your journey.

To the OP congratulations on your engagement.  You've come to the right place to get help with your visa, as the posters here have extensive knowledge and experience concerning the process.

First rule of thumb when it comes to immigrant visas and planning weddings, ceremonies etc is be flexible.  Anything can happen during the visa process, thus quoted times are simply guidelines.   If you have your heart, money and plans set on a scheduled event, you may be setting yourself up for disappointment.  Taking time to read through others experiences here on the site, you will find many who have ran into unexpected delays that have affected their plans.  In your specific case, as already pointed out by others, expecting your now fiancee to come to the US right after a fall 2017 ceremony, seems highly unlikely to be possible.  For all intents and purposes it's not a realistic option. Whether that means you change the time of the religious ceremony, or you are ok with her living in Canada for at least a few months afterwords, is a decision for you to make.   As I already mentioned, flexibility.

Assuming that the K-3 does get approved, I wouldn't bet on a Fall 2017 deadline.  The unfortunate theme here is these applications take time.  I wish you the best on your upcoming journey!

K3 was common back when the CR-1/IR-1 process was taking a few years to process. Now that they are only within a few months of each other, NVC doesn't see the need and administratively close the I-129F petition when they get them for K-3s. Less than 0.5% of K3s were issued in the most recent fiscal year recorded compared to prior years. In terms of raw numbers, I think it's like 186 in FY 2015 if memory serves me correctly. 182 were issued compared to 31k K-1s and several hundred thousand IR-based visas in the same year.
    Edit: Data: https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Statistics/AnnualReports/FY2015AnnualReport/FY15AnnualReport-TableXVIB.pdf

Sure you can try if you really want, but the advice is that it's a waste of time and money to pursue it for an extremely slim chance to enter the US a couple months sooner (and still have many of the other drawbacks of doing a K-1 compared to just waiting a couple months for the CR-1 and avoiding those issues).
