    Hi there,
you will find the details about the financial hardship route in part 6 of the form i-912 instructions (on the USCIS website).
In two words, it includes medical expenses and unemployment, which seems to correspond to your wife's situation. Nevertheless, be aware that your request has to be very well documented. A letter from her doctor would not hurt (but on top of all the other documents that you have to provide).
If your request for fee waiver is rejected, your entire application is returned to you. You then have to send it again with the payment for the fee. You'll waste a few weeks in the process.
But saving over $700 is worth trying.
    I wish you good luck.

    Hi there,

yes taxes are a headache for us all.
Great advise from Californiansunset. As mentioned, it is critical as an immigrant to be as up to date as can be with taxes and the  IRS. Every stage of your immigration road will ask for it.
You might be able to file them quickly using e-file with turbotax or its competitors. I file like this each year and i can print and save my return straight away (my case is not complicated).
Most of all, you have to be honest during the interview and release that information (the fact you did not file for 2 years), and possibly try to find an acceptable reason why you did not file.
Unfortunately, all this does not guarantee that your adjustment will be accepted.

    Good luck.

    Hi everyone,

i had my interview this morning in Oakland Park, Fl.
The officer was courteous and efficient and did not waste any time.
After placing me under oath and checking my green card, he asked me what i was doing as a living and a number of questions related to the n400 form to verify my address, family ties etc.. Then, if i had traveled abroad other than what i had indicated on my application.
Then i asked me if i was ready to take the test.
i was asked 5 questions (not sure in what order anymore)
#32 who is the commander in chief of the military ? #45 What are the 2 major political parties in the United States ? #46 What is the political party of the President now ? #62 Who wrote the Declaration of Independence ? #64 There were 13 original states. Name 3. Then i was asked to write : "The people elect Congress"
I don't remember the one i had to read. Total time 15mn. But the waiting time before the interview was about  1 hour.
I passed the test and my application was recommended for approval.
I'm now waiting for the oath ceremony date. This should take place in about a month, that's the estimate i got from the officer.
If somebody could update my timeline, i would be grateful.
    Good luck to all.

    Hi Laetitia,

The best advice i can give you is to be patient and confident.I'm about to become a US citizen, but i came here 12 years ago. I went through this dilemma back in 2006. Personally, while organizing my departure, also from the south of France, since the day i knew i was joining my wife in NJ, my job was not in my head anymore (at all). My level of motivation was extremely low. I was looking at my last day at work in France as a great day of liberation. On the other hand, one's level of finance is never high enough when you make such a drastic move in your life. Every dollar counts, specially like in your case you won't be able to work right away and generate a revenue. You'll be happy to have a little "matelas". But again, it's very personal, maybe your fiance is well off and  you can afford to leave your actual job a little earlier.
Anyways, i wish you luck in your new life in the US.

    Hi there,

as long as you sent back the letter stating that you are not a US citizen, you'll be fine.
Nothing else to do on your side.
This happened to my wife years ago when she was not yet a citizen.

    Regards.

    Hi there,

I sent my application with usps certified mail with return receipt.
In my case, i can confirm that this way of sending your application slows down the process a little. Sent on feb 04, received feb 12th.(From Florida to Dallas)
The fact that it goes to a P.O Box is the reason.
    It's worth the wait.
As for the address, the P.O Box i sent it to is 660060 which differs from what you indicate.
The address for certified mail is the same as for regular mail . It differs if you use Fedex or UPS.

    Regards

    Hi there,

i would tend to think that the asylum path is one you should chose if you have no other one.
So i-130 + i-485 seems the best way.

    Good luck

You start accruing unlawful presence on the first day of your i-94 being expired. Not when you entered, and not when your visa expires. Up to 180 days results in 3 years, and 365 days results in 10 years, assuming you left freely.
