I don't know if they will see it that way. Your sponsor signed an affidavit of support basically saying that they'll support you until you have your EAD. So I think unless something happens with your sponsor and they lose their job or whatnot I don't think it counts. But I hope for you it does. So please let us know if they do approve it.

I'm gonna go ahead and make a controversial point about inquiries/service requests: I think it's not necessarily that filing them led to the approval of the EAD/AP docs, but that once you hit the point where you can file for a request, you're probably a few days from when they were gonna issue your EAD anyway.

why would your USC spouse attend?
I'm not sure they can, so I would look up the ASC and see what their policies are/if their waiting room is open to people other than the applicant.

After you get to the US. Can't do it from overseas. It doesn't matter if you do it before or after you get married. They recommend about 2-3 weeks after you get here.

Nope, the FAQ is pretty clear about this, you must have the AP before leaving:

She must APPLY and RECEIVE advance parole document BEFORE leaving the United States. Otherwise the adjustment application may be considered abandoned and she may not be able to return to the US without applying for and receiving a new visa. However, no one would ask her to show AP when she departs the US but they (customs and border protection) wouldnt let her return to the US without the AP.

antoineD reacted to Jojo92122 in Can I apply for citizenship while 1-751 pending?
If you are about to file the I-751 to remove condition on your 2 years green card, then you have at least another year before you qualify to file for US citizenship as the spouse of a US citizen under the 3 years rule.  Since you got your green card on May 13, 2015, you do not qualify to file for naturalization under the 3 years rule until Feb 13, 2018.

If you leave the US for 6-12 months, you will not meet the physical presence requirement for US citizenship.

Review the requirements for US citizenship, there are several different requirements.

@DorothyLa I will suggest you send a copy of the i864 you sent to them if you made a copy of it because I think with the barcode on it sending out new one may alter the information they already have in their system for that form concerning you leading to an unnecessary delay in adjudication of your case.#myopinion though. Good luck.
@EmilyUKCongratulations and good luck, I am not versed in the areas of alien numbers but I think what @antoineD said should help. Good luck.

They totally misplaced my request for an expedite when I did one for my OPT. I wouldn't have your company call as it should be you, your counsel, or sponsor (either your spouse, for FBAS, or your company, for work visas/GCs) - but I expect that the USCIS won't wanna talk to your employer as they're not related to your overall AOS petition. They may be related to your argument that your not working causes "financial loss", or whichever argument you're planning to use, but I think it'll only be useful if you were to call yourself and explain how your lack of EAD hurts you and your food bank, is it?

Hey Emily, this happens. Happened to me in the past while on different visas, but it never caused me any trouble. Some other people on this forum disagree and advise that you contact the USCIS to check in about why they changed it, and if you can add the old Alien Number to your file. I'm not a lawyer, so I'm not gonna comment about whether this is useful or not, but it probably can't hurt to call them about it.

Hello! Many people here have talked about this, but I think you need to wait until you receive the RFIE in mail in order to find out what exactly they are asking for.
But from what I learned from other people's experience, an RFIE means you are either missing or filled out wrong one or more of the forms you were required for an initial submission.
Did you already receive one? As for the number, I'm not sure where exactly you need to call, I'm sorry...maybe someone here could help you with that.
But I still understand your frustration, we tried to call USCIS prior to sending our AOS package, and it was NOT a pleasant experience.

Be sure to keep us updated on your case! (if any of the information I wrote above is wrong, please let me know. I would love to educate myself more on the AOS process).

Last night I received the acceptance confirmation from USCIS! It arrived 12 days after they received it in Chicago.
Here is what it looks like:
Your case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS National Benefits Center for processing. Within 7-10 days by standard mail you will receive your official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) with your Receipt Number -----------------. With the official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) you may visit www.uscis.gov where you can check the status of your case using My Case Status. We suggest you wait until you have received your Form I-797 before checking My Case Status.   This confirmation provides notification of the date USCIS received your case.  This notice does NOT grant any immigration status or benefit. You MAY NOT present this notice as evidence that you have been granted any immigration status or benefit. Further, this notice does NOT constitute evidence that your case remains pending with USCIS. The current status of your case must be verified with USCIS.

    Anyway, happy weekend everyone!

For those who received good news, congratulations!

For those who will have a quiet weekend, hang in there! ---- as what my lawyer always tells me when I worry of things not happening, "Don't worry, it will come."

Have you tried Schwab Bank? They're pretty great. I use them because my employer already forces me to use them for my 401k, so I decided to give them a try for our join checking account.

I'm not sure they asked me for any documentation online when opening the account except for my social - so maybe try something online?

It takes approximately 4-5 months to get an interview in Detroit (which is your local office). However, since you're adjusting from a K1, you might not even be transferred to the local office.

Sounds like that to me honestly. If one didn't work out why would you marry so quickly another USC except for the purpose of adjusting status?

Give it time, wait a year or two and just do spousal visa/K-1 is this is the right relationship.

USCIS will look at your timeline with heavy scrutiny due to such short times between marriage/divorce/marriage.

Expect extra scrutiny.  USCIS may think that you will marry any US citizen to stay and get a green card.  Back to back marriages with US citizens look suspicious.
