Travel ban removed like 5 days after we got rejected because of it! We’ve contacted a lawyer and our congressman and hope to get the decision reversed. The fight continues on!!

    Hi AOS friends!

I didn't realise there was another January 2018 AOS Filers thread!  I joined a different one that has been set up and hadn't seen this one!

We sent our packet off to USCIS on 01/20/2018, however, due to delays with USPS Priority Mail and the Chicago post office, it did not show as delivered until 01/28/2018.  I thought we would be January filers, but It looks as though we will be February filers instead!

I hope you guys will be happy with me tagging along in here anyway :).

Good luck and smooth sailing to all! :).

    Hey all ,

After all frustration with USPS delays since January 11th, finally we received the NOA1 text message and email from USCIS last night at 11:25, I opened my eyes with seeing the text this morning which is a great relief of pain.

Now, the real game of Waiting started.
    Good luck everyone.

Hey all! Was a March 2017 K1 filer, now I’m checking in with Jan AOS filers. Here’s the rundown of my journey so far:

    November 14th - Entered on K1
November 18th - Married then Honeymoon
December 15th - SS Card Arrived (7 days after applying)
    January 13 - i485/EAD/AP Sent
    January 17 - i485/EAD/AP Delivered
    January 19 - NOA1 for all three
    January 26 - NOA1 hardcopies received

Now patiently waiting for my Biometrics letter to arrive in the mail. Seems that KY is doing an outstanding job at getting AOS GC decisions out the door. According to VJ it’s averaging 110 days or so right now. That’s exciting compared to others I’ve seen. Hopefully with no RFEs we’ll see if it actually lives up to that I guess. Boredom is starting to get the best of me. lol

In other news, it stopped snowing long enough that I was finally able to get my drivers license issued this last week. Drivers test took all of 10 minutes and got issued a 4 year license! Crazy reading how the rules on that change so much from state to state. K1s apparently fall in to a “special category” here. As long as you show your marriage license with the K1 visa, you get a standard issue 4 year license after testing.

Its all coming together bit by bit. Good luck to everyone on speedy APPROVALS!

For Eric it's a lot of adjusting to the new family members, it's not easy to get two quite grown up children all of a sudden when you never had your own ones. The kids are adapting to the new school, my daughter is doing good, making new friends, even got an excellence roll to her own surprise. The level of academic challenge is much lower here. My son is too absent-minded and introverted in general, so he is not adapting as easily as she is but I'm sure he'll catch up sooner or later. As for me, I'm just trying to make everyone comfortable

Got NOA1s in the mail today, for all 3 of us. I'm so relieved that nothing was lost
I think it's a matter of luck. Mine was received on the 11th but I didn't get any notifications till the 22nd.

We had a wonderful day and of course I ate too much. lol

Volunteering is going great.  I am loving it so much. Really enjoy working with the ladies. One of the ladies Leanne is in her 80s and told me I needed to come in every Tuesday morning and volunteer with her cause I was fun. lol I walk to the library in about 25 minutes as I am volunteering scanning books to see if we should sell them on Amazon or Ebay from 9am-12pm.

How are things going for you, Eric and the kids? And yes sending AOS papers is a celebration.

Sounds like you had a great day
I completely forgot about ours, but now that I'm thinking of it, we did celebrate - we sent the AOS papers on that day without even realizing that
How is your volunteering going on?

Mmmhmmm. Today marks a year since my husband and I got engaged.  So we are celebrating. I made him a nice breakfast of eggs and hash browns this morning. This afternoon we went out for really good ice cream at Colorado City Creamery. Best ice cream in town. This evening we have a reservation at Ted Montana's Grill. My husband's doctor recommended it to us because of the diet my husband is on and we love it.  They are super great about substitutions. My husband is on a low FODMAP diet due to his ibs. So basically we cut out lots of things mainly gluten, onions and garlic. It seems to be working. He has felt so much better lately.

notification so been checking money orders😂 now I'm just waiting for the NOA. I must say I feel a little better. I was worried they wouldn't accept the money orders because they were purchased at walmart.

i didn't get any e-mails, I don't know why. I got 6 texts on the 22nd, for our 3 AOSs and 3 EADs. Then on the 25th I got 6 hard copies in the mail.

    We got rejected!

I’m so pissed... everything was good according to the CO but the said because of the travel ban they are rejecting it! Although its in effect it clearly states you can ovverride at your discretion.  So why say looks good then decline!

    UGH.
I tried going in to see if I can talk to someone even to get “closure” (Im the petitioner) and they wouldn’t even let me in the Embassy as a US citizen!!

The stupid gatekeeper was a foreigner.. or definitely not born/raised in the US (by her so obvious accent)...UGH SO PISSED 😡 It felt totally like racism... I even asked to talk to an “American” since she clearly had an accent and she said no sorry too bad.

Who treats their own citizens like that, not rven allowing them into their own embassy??

anyways... We are trying to figure out next steps....

Speaking of biometrics. My appointment was 2pm yesterday in Denver but because I was helping a friend in Denver out with some things I went for a walk in. So at 10:30am I walked in and there was maybe half a dozen people in the waiting area. The guard took my passport and appointment letter, had me fill out a form and then I gave it back to her. She gave me all of my stuff back and the form and a number. I went to sit down but before I could sit my number was called. lol I was in and out in 10 minutes.

    Hi everyone!

I sent my AOS package about a week ago and I received email and text notifications. Checks are also cashed. I concurrently applied for I-767 and now I am wondering if I can put in expedited review of I-767 providing under 'severe financial loss'. Does anyone know if this can be done before biometrics appointment? Anyone has any experience with expedited request on I-767?

Thank you in advance and good luck to you all!

Monica and I mailed her AOS and EAD yesterday.  We sent it by USPS, not as worried about the slow delivery as everyone else.  It will get there.  Then it will be processed.  Glad to be here with everyone and looking forward to Monica getting her Green Card and being a Permanent Resident.  Good Luck to all
