Great!! That's perfect! Thank you for sharing.  What about starting a thread under the NVC forums? Called NVC India? Think it would be useful as there are many cases from India and this issues seems to come up a lot.. That way it will always have a home for future NVC filers from India..

HELLO!! I'm back to the forum!!! Just applied for my husband's N400 in July. I'm a bit confused on how long this is going to take.. Seems quite different than the visa process since now it's depended on our field office?

JBMG got a reaction from Sea Leslie in TIPS - How to avoid a NVC CHECKLIST
Avoid getting a checklist. Here are the most common reasons why people get a checklist.

FIRST off, the NVC does not receive your documents from the USCIS. The only documents they review are the ones you send them. And the VERSION of documents you sent to the USCIS, may not acceptable at the NVC. VERY important, check the US embassy website in your country to see if you can get a detailed list of the versions of the documents you must need. Normally their list will tell you the version you need. Make sure you include everything that is required (applicable to you) from your NVC welcome letter.

Here is a list of the most common reasons why the NVC delays cases asking for new documentation to be sent to them.. Delaying the processing for another  8-11 weeks!

    THE NVC loses your documents:
Make sure you write your CASE number on EVERY copy, including your AOS/i-864 form.. TIP:  Buy a stamp and stamp each copy..  Or print out the applicant's case number/name on a label sheet, then cut and stick on each copy.

Use the correct version of each document: Verify the version you need with the US embassy you're having an interview at. If copies are not in the embassy accepted language, have them translated. But send the copies of the original with it.

AOS/i-864: Write None and N/A on any empty field.. You can't do this via the computer.. Have to handwrite this. Include EVERY page, and sign it. Even if there is nothing on the page, you include it and write None and N/A on every empty field.

    Police and Court Records
If you lived in any country more than 6 months, you have to request and police report from that country.. If you have any court records, you have to request those too.

The following are commonly lost, missing, or the correct version wasn't sent in originally.
    Police records/Police clearance
    Court records
    Birth certificate
    Marriage certificate
    Landing Papers
Proof of residency. For example, you're from Portugal but living in Canada. You need to send the NVC your canadian proof of residency and landing papers.
Tax Transcripts, W2 Forms, 1099 forms. If you don't have a w2, and tax transcripts explain why you don't have them in a letter.
    Divorce records

Here is a list of real checklists from Feb/March/April cases.. Don't let this happen to you.

Hi, thought I would start a thread for those who have a scan date in August - 2017 from the NVC.

Who should join/follow? Those who filed using Method 4: Mail processing.

Please join the following forums if you used the following methods. (not open to all countries, click on links to find out if your country qualifies)

    NVC PROCESSING TIME
Even though I'm not tracking August Scan Dates on our NVC Case Status Spread Sheet - 2017. You can get a good idea of how long the NVC process will take based on your country.  You can sort the spreadsheet by your country, then see how long it took them to receive a CC or what time of the month they received their interview dates.

    Here are the sort instructions.

The NVC will tell you they process in the order they receive cases. This may be true but not everyone at the NVC is trained to review cases from all countries.. So this is why you'll see UK getting processed in under 8 weeks, whereas Spanish speaking countries just over 9 weeks.. If you see some cases getting reviewed quickly, that's because they were approved to expedite their case or had a supervisor review their checklist. (more info below)

    Join/Follow your PORTAL
Join/follow your country's portal. Can find useful tips and info to help you prepare your NVC package, etc.  PLEASE UPDATE YOUR COUNTRY'S PORTAL IF YOU CAN ADD VALUABLE INFORMATION, SUCH AS "Order Police Records from ---- to avoid a checklist" etc..

    Interview Reviews
Also, check out what happens at the interview by reading reviews from other NVC filers within your country who have already been through the NVC process. Make sure you add your review as well when you get to that point.

Another tip to help you avoid getting a checklist. Do a search on the forum (upper right-hand corner). For example, do the following:
    "Checklist, Birth Certificate, India"
    "Checklist, Police Report, India"
    "Checklist, Marriage Certificate, India"
    "Checklist, India"
Here are the search results for "Checklist, India" You'll see right away, that there are a lot of checklists from people who didn't submit the correct Police Certificate.

IF YOU FOUND OUT THAT YOU'VE SENT IN THE WRONG DOCUMENT OR MISSING ONE, ADVISE SENDING THE CORRECTION ASAP BEFORE WAITING FOR YOUR CASE TO BE REVIEWED.. Others have done so and were still able to get their CC between 8-11 weeks of their original scan date. (if you forgot to put NA/None in the empty spaces on your AOS form, or didn't write your case number on every document you sent in, many received a CC without doing this, it's just a safety measure. If you didn't send in all pages of your AOS /i864 form, that's a BIG error and will receive a checklist, so please send in the entire form, signed (or scanned version of a signature) to the NVC ASAP!! And whenever you send new documents to the NVC, always include your barcoded NVC cover sheet with your case number on it.. And write your case number in the upper right-hand corner and a letter to explain why you're sending it in..  And SEND everything in one envelope.

There are two types of checklists, one where you can bring your documents to the interview, or the other where you have to resubmit to the NVC.

If you have to resubmit to the NVC, there are 2 options you can take.

One, submit the corrected document(s) in ASAP.. Once the NVC has confirmed that they have receipt.. Wait about a week, call back and ask for a supervisor to get in contact with you.. They may refuse, but it has worked for those that kept on calling.. The goal, to have the supervisor review the new document and give you a CC ASAP versus waiting the 8-11 weeks again. Sometimes it works, most of the time, it does not.. SO be sure to avoid getting a checklist by sending your corrected documents ASAP.

    =======
Asked for proof of canadian residence (PR card) which was already submitted with I-130 and mailed document to NVC on June 12th. Also assessment for W2 form which I can take in Interview.

Affidavit of Support form and supporting financial documents

    Birth certificate
1st checklist 12/07/17 . correct info in AOS : in the application in sponsor's household size i filled the box #3 instead of #1.
2nd checklist 02/11/17 only sent corrected pages. Didn't know that i had to send all 12 pages again . my latest scan date was 02/15/17
    I-864, some places left blank.
They said it was an incorrect birth certificate.
    Checklist for a death certificate
    Court Records
    obsolete AOS form
Incorrect birth certificate. Needs to be one with parents names
    Incorrect Marriage Certificate

    Missing ppc
    Marriage Certificate and Police Certificate

Thank you for your time in filling out the survey, with your help, this will hopefully help others who are about to submit their file to the NVC. And possibly help the NVC improve their instructions to reduce the amount of cases receiving a checklist.

Tips on how to avoid a checklist

Hello am from HK case just got approved Aug 31 and we are gonna call NVC mid week.

Just wondering if NVC will send notification to petitioner or beneficiary and at what time frame since the letter did mention they will contact the beneficiary for next steps... (notificaiton to petitioner first and then package to beneficiary? Or email to both? Is it a letter or a package to petitioner? )

And I'm not sure if it's a definite CEAC for HK omg i'm so nervous and i hope we can use this new system...

Awesome, thanks for that, and for confirmation.  Time to round up all pay stubs I received after submitting the AoS documents; hopefully I can wait a couple weeks to send them to my wife, because the company is giving us a raise effective today, but that will not show up on a pay stub until a week from next Friday.  We meet the income requirements as stated, but I prefer as big a cushion as possible to reassure the CO as much as possible.

They prefer transcripts unless they can't be obtained. Makes it easier on them. I had to send w2's and tax returns because it was too early for a transcript to be available for the current year. But either way you will be fine.

No. Not if you submitted transcripts.
