If it was not, why the hell did you say in a form that you are married? WHO told you that you ARE married then? Do you realize that form IS a legal document? You screwed yourself up.

If they were to send you an RFE and ask for more proof you could submit it.

Otherwise you will submit it/take it with you to the interview when you get to that phase.

That is a little ignorant for you to say.
The fact that things in different cultures don't fit western narrative doesn't mean it is a lie.
let me educate on an aspect of Ghanaian culture.
    I think i can see OP's issue.
In most Ghanaian culture, returning the "drink" the man's family is finalized divorce. This happens with no involvement of government documentation. If the woman wants a divorce, she returns the "drinks" collected as part of her bride price. But if the man wants a divorce, he must take the woman back and pay some money  (kinda like alimony).
So if OP (been the man) did take the woman back to her family and pay the alimony, she is still considered married likewise OP.
If you divorce someone administratively through the court, the cultural aspect has to be fulfilled for it to be accepted culturally as divorce.

So in essence, OP could be culturally very married but not married "enough" for the immigration process. Because the US govt recognizes the administrative type of marriage and the cultural marriage when it suits them.
OP was filing for his ex and had not provided administrative documentation for his marriage, they would have told him he wasn't married.

The conflict  or the dilemma for those of us from completely different cultures, is trying to fit our customs into western microscopes.

I'll be honest. The interview is all about your partner knowing you and every piece of evidence you submitted. My husband was mostly asked questions from chats and pictures I submitted throughout the process. (You can find my review in the Consulate Review section.)

I would highly recommend you read through the reviews and start quizzing your fiancé. My husband and I spent hours going over things...not so he would have memorized answers, but so he would no how to answer questions so the CO will understand. I also uploaded all of our evidence to Google Docs and sent him a link. This allowed my husband to look over things in his free time and he was aware of what the CO had in front of her. The only information the CO has to go off of is what you provide, so make sure your man knows the evidence inside and out.

Hi, if you wanna go give moral support for your hubby then you can, buts that's up to you, if you go or not that in my opinion won't help or hurt from different post now we aren't allowed in the embassy anymore, and my experience in the embassy was not the best and it's a long story, but it's really whatever you wanna do

I went to Ghana when my husband had his interview in February. I don't know if it made a difference, but at least two people in the embassy commented to my husband that they were sorry I wasn't allowed in. At the same time, I know people were still denied despite being in the country with their Ghanaian partner.

I would suggest if you decide to attend to make sure your presence is know by the CO. I arrived 3 days before the interview. We made sure to take picture of us at different places and with different people during those days leading up to the interview. We made copies of my boarding passes, visa stamp and hotel receipts. I also wrote a letter that let the CO know I was outside the embassy should they want to speak with me. We included all of this in the evidence my husband took into the embassy with him.

Today is day 99 for us.  NOA1 of 2/13.  Nothing on USPS Informed Delivery again today, but that hasn't stopped me from checking the mailbox every night as soon as I get home.  I am so hopeful it will be soon.  It would be really good to have a holiday weekend to enjoy getting approved!  I love Ella so much and I am so ready to move on to the interview step and one step closer to being together!

You need to be perfectly honest with the CBP officer upon arrival. Marrying in the US on a tourist visa is fine, but he will be concerned that you intend to stay. Make sure to bring plenty of evidence that you will return to Italy and await the processing of your immigrant visa. Return ticket, rental agreement, employment or school enrollment in Italy will help. Also make sure not to bring to much luggage.

As for your evidence of bona fide marriage, you have made a good start.
