For the doctor we used (Dr. Lyndon Mascarenhas in Toronto), we could not book a medical until we had our appointment date. I'm not sure if the other doctor's had that requirement or not, but I would check out their websites for specific instructions on scheduling the appointment.

We only submitted the short form for our original i-129F application. 

It turned out I was wrong and my fiance only submitted her short form as well. Whether or not you need to take your petitioner's  birth certificate would be specific to your embassy and I was only commenting on the embassy in Montreal. Point of reference for anyone going through the Montreal Consulate.

8/16: Interview and Visa Approval

8/25: Notification from embassy that there was a glitch and fiance had to return to Montreal to be re-fingerprintered - no change in CEAC Status

8/26: Notification from Montreal that the glitch was resolved over the weekend. No need to come back in. CEAC Status changed to "Created"

8/26: CEAC Status changed to Administrative Processing

It would appear that our case wasn't touched between 8/16 and 8/25, but there were a number of updates on the "Case Last Updated Field" on CEAC between that time period. Hoping they took care of some of the processing during that time period and that the visa gets issued expeditiously. Though, we all know there's nothing expeditious about Montreal...

In other news, we got our invites out today and have heard back from a couple of officiants! Inching forward!

Also, I hate insomnia.

well, she fell asleep on Skype with the light on so I woke her up . Confirmed that the proof of payment was the first document the Montreal Consulate asked for. They did not ask for proof of payment for the I-29F.

I will double check with my fiance tomorrow morning when she wakes (actually when I wake as she gets up at 3:30 am), but I am fairly certain she was asked to provide proof of payment for the visa after scheduling the interview. I think she printed off the confirmation e-mail and provided that during the document check at the interview. I will let you know tomorrow morning (in the hopes that writing this out all now will remind me to ask in the morning )

But they definitely did not ask for proof of payment for the I-29F

I didn't mean she had a criminal record... just sometimes people get a "hit" because their name or bday is the same as someone who does have a record so its easier to take prints and be exempt from that "hit" stuff...

But I misunderstood! thanks for letting me know ! I didn't realize you have to get finger printed at the interview. yikes..

No worries! I wasn't aware of the "hit" issue myself!

They do electronic scanning of all 10 fingers at document check and then they do a verification check and scan them again at the actual interview. So,  we aren't sure if hers got deleted, or what happened.

Not at all! She doesn't have a criminal record at all so we did not need the police cert with the prints. When you arrive for the interview they scan your prints there. From the e-mail, it seems to me, there was a technical issue with scanner and they were not recorded properly

Exactly! Thankfully, she is only a 4 hour drive (one way), but she also has a busy week next week closing out with work, final Canadian medical stuff, etc. I can't imagine being on the West Coast and having this happen to us.

So I think we just figured out why our case tracker has not updated from "ready."

My fiance just got an e-mail from the Montreal Consulate:

" Unfortunately, we would need to re-fingerprint you.   Due to a technical error we were not able to proceed.  Please respond to this email stating which day next week you would be able to return for fingerprinting.  (Mornings Monday – Thursday)."

So frustrating! This may end up ruining our travel plans.

We sent in Packet 3 on July 19 and got Packet 4 on Jul 25 and scheduled the interview right away. I thought it was only going to be a day or 2 but had to keep waiting...and waiting...

It took 6 days for us to get packet 4 via e-mail after submitting packet 3. Slowwwwww!

My ceac status was already in "Administrative Processing" when I barely stepped out of the consulate. I think I looked like an hour later. It kept it for one day and then went to "Issued".
Interview was on Tuesday, and the passport was back with me on Saturday.

Crazy, how different this is for every one of us!

It is crazy! I guess it makes sense that given the proximity to the US there would be more visa filers there and a heavier workload. In the Canadian sub-forum, it looks like someone had a similar issue to us so we are just waiting it out at this point.

We sent the passport scan as an image and the DS-160 and document checklists as PDFs. You will be fine!

Yeah.. But you can now pay even if the status is IN TRANSIT. Last time I saw the slots for interview was last night, only 2 slots are available.. 

 

the status of my visa is still AP. Case Created: August 23 - Ready to Application received until today, it has updated to ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING.. :3 It's taking too long in my case but I don't care as long as I'll have my visa in hand soon  I won't pick my Visa in MOA.. I'm living in Pangasinan Province, so I'll just pick it up in 2GO branch near my place. :))

 

you should schedule flights now. Hahaha. My fiancé did😂 he did 3 weeks before my interview. Big risk😂

Our CEAC Tracker is still showing "ready"...for the interview (9 days AFTER the interview). Though "the case last updated" field has been updated every day this week. I suppose they are working on it. Montreal is slowwwwww

I'm really sorry. I gave you bad information. I could have sworn she had her long form birth certificate, but at the interview she brought her short form and they accepted it and did not say anything about the long form. We haven't received the her passport back yet with the visa so I suppose there is an outside chance they can still ask for it. I update this thread when we do get the visa.

This whole process is messy so I wouldn't be surprised if they are wrong.. but it looks like things are being sent electronically to me (not the NOA2) but the NVC notification was.

We filled out the G-1145 and received e-nail notification from NVC, too.
