    Hello,

I am uploading documents for the N-400 application. My case is based on 3 yrs of marriage based GC.

Question: Do i need to scan the Green Card on a single file or can I upload 2 pdfs with front and back scanned separately?

I scanned on a single file. In fact took 2 pictures, cropped, put it in a Google doc page, saved as a PDF.

There isn't any particular requirement about number of pages. I did so because it's easier to see and review.

I used Rapidvisa to prepare my ROC.

When I read that people where asking about starting their N-400 process while waiting for the ROC to be processed, I reached out to them to ask if this was possible. They mentioned that USCIS will only process one petition at a time. So they suggested I wait until getting the green card before submitting the N-400 petition.

I searched online at the USCIS website, looked at their Manual of Immigration Policies and found on the chapter of Conditional Permanent Resident Spouses and Naturalization this:

For what I can understand it says that you must have your ROC approved before they approve your N-400. What is not so clear to me is if there is any gain or issues in submitting your N-400 petition while still waiting for the ROC to be approved.

In my case I have a stamp in my passport that I need to renew by the end of the year, and they took my green card during that process. So I only have the stamp and the copy of my extension letter that arrived after I got the stamp.

I am also aiming for the citizenship but don't want to risk making this process more complicated then necessary. Ever since My husband filed my K-1 Visa petition this has been a long path that has taught me how to manage my patience (and it has not been easy!).  At this point I wonder if I would rather wait to get the GC before starting the N-400 if there is no gain in doing it before my ROC is approved.

So my question to everyone is:

Is their any gain in starting the N-400 while waiting for approval of the ROC?

I'm debating about the same situation and leaning towards not applying for N-400 at the moment, in anticipation of getting done with GC first.

One interesting bit I read in the field manual that might contribute to slowness is:

"In almost all cases, a Form N-400 that is filed while a Form I-751 is pending will have been filed pursuant to section 319(a) or 319(b) of the Act. These provisions require a higher level of evidence of marital union and joint residence than is required for the approval of Form I-751 filed jointly." from https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/USCIS/Laws and Regulations/Memoranda/cond_perm_resident_.pdf

got an update today and our SRC number is finally working on egov.uscis.gov ; we got 2 letters in the mail, one that says they have reopened the case and the other a biometrics appointment. on the case history, it says they have approved our petition but then right below that it says they are reconsidering the decision. 😑

What was the status before "Reopened"? Was it denied? Maybe someone put in an incorrect status at first?

    Hello All,

I am an April 2018 filer and things are not going right with my case. Please I need your advise based on your experience. See my timeline below:

    I485
Approved at the Houston office in May 2016 (after a waiting for almost 13 months to be called for an interview.

    I751
    04/02/2018 - Submitted application
04/09/2018 - Received acknowledgement from CSC
    05/18/2018 - Biometric Waved
08/27/2019 - Case transferred to NBC (No reason stated except that it is the normal/standard procedure)

    N400 (Houston, TX)
    03/04/2019 - Submitted Application
    03/18/2019 - Biometric Completed
Processing time in Houston is about 19 months before you can be called for an interview. They are the slowest office in the entire Country, Congratulations to them for their high level of Inefficiency. Houston Office Sucksssss!!!

My i751 has not been approved, no RFE requested (my application was well packaged), I am just on standstill. I am not hoping/praying for a Combo because that would mean waiting for another 14 months.

Please advise me, I am stressed!!!! HELP! HELP! HELP!

Sorry to tell you this but best thing you can do is to find a way to wait without stressing out. Worst case scenario it will take a long time. Better case scenario, you will get a random approval email/sms someday earlier. 250000 other people are in a similar situation as you are.

Hey everyone hope you guys have good week so far.

i know there is topic for it but I couldn’t find or get any answers so I said I’ll make one separate.

we started our process with K1 and now ROC.

in June 3 2019 my I-751 was received and few days after I received my extension letter.

the letter said I might receive separate letter for bio but I haven’t received anything, the case still saying case was received and I see a lot of others people that already did bio and submitted the file after me.

so I’m wondering if it’s ok,is it possible they don’t need bio from me or my case is really delaying ?

on June 2019 fillers topic seems like I’m the only one who didn’t get the bio app.

    thanks for any help.

There are many people who have not and won't receive any biometrics appointment letters. Some just wait at "Case received" until one day it "Case approved".

You will get a biometrics appointment letter only if your previous fingerprints and background check is expired or not sufficient.

I suggest that you just wait and enjoy the fact that your case hasn't needed extra work for you and for USCIS so far.

Pending i751 and n400 under extended review morthan a month now after interview, what does that mean?

Is that what your case indicates as status, "extended review"?

There is this that might be in play in your case: "In almost all cases, a Form N-400 that is filed while a Form I-751 is pending will have been filed pursuant to section 319(a) or 319(b) of the Act. These provisions require a higher level of evidence of marital union and joint residence than is required for the approval of Form I-751 filed jointly."

    Hi!

I'm curious about the column on the tracking spreadsheet labeled "Biometrics Review Completed Date"...what does that mean? And how does one know when the review is complete? Thank you,

    --David & Noom

After biometrics appointment, status often changes to "Fingerprint Review Was Completed" or something similar. It's usually a day or two after the appointment but can happen any time later, or, I mean, USCIS...

Hello - I just checked status for my wife removal of condition .. it says "

    Fingerprint Review Was Completed

As of September 18, 2019, we completed our review of your fingerprints and are working on your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence

But she never got a biometric appointment.. does it mean she does not need to do fingerprinting?

    Thanks

    Ashif

She doesn't need to provide fingerprints at the moment for sure. There may be need in the future. What happens is, when officer looks into the file they determine whether a background check is required at that time. If the file happens to take too long to process, next time it is processed officer might require new fingerprints for background check again as it expires after certain time frame. If your case is adjudicated before then, you won't need to provide fingerprints.

Is it normal that I never received the extension letter as a November '18 filer? April '19 was the first time I received anything from USCIS after I filed, which was a notice letter informing me that they're going to reuse the biometrics, and then the second time was August '19 when I received the infamous letter: "nevermind, we actually do need your biometrics". I don't really need the extension letter. I understand that the primary use of it would be when traveling, but I don't intend to travel before I receive my 10-year green card. I was wondering if I should call USCIS and inquire about the extension letter, hoping it will make the application move a little faster. Does that help in your experience? Also did anybody not receive their extension letter either? Thanks!

It's normal in the sense that it happens a lot. Some ask for it multiple times and still don't receive it. If you are absolutely sure you won't need it you could consider leaving it alone. There isn't any evidence that I have seen such inquiry would speed up any case.

So I got my stamp after my I-751 extension expired and am now in my home country for a funeral. Whilst I was away my husband had a visit from homeland security who proceeded to take pictures of every room in the house, re-asking the same questions we had in the stokes interview, and asking for evidence of us both living there. I guess the 4 years worth of bank statements/bills/insurance/taxes/photos weren’t enough. Absolutely exasperated at this point. Attorney said not to worry but I know this isn’t usual practice. Neither of us has anything besides a parking ticket to our name but still, feel like we are being treated very unfairly. People here have been approved with no interview and a tenth of the evidence we submitted. I for one could do without the stress at this time. Not sure what’s going to happen next.

Sorry to hear that you experienced that. Please let us know of any updates.
