  1. How about US airlines start serving food on flights over 1,000 miles first before worrying about expanding. Their management should also fly with Singapore and Emirates to learn something.

Now jet blue is a great carrier. American airlines is not too bad but needs to improve their in-flight service.

I cannot wait for Virgin America to start up.

When I flew with Emirates I had the worst experience than with any other airline! The customer service was bad and because I was assigned seats at the back, by the time they got to me with the food - they'd run out! I was on a flight from London to Dubai and Dubai to Hyderabad and did not get a single thing to eat!!! It wouldnt have been so bad if I hadnt paid so much for the flight and didnt have to watch most of the plane eat!

I do like southwest though - they remind me of easyjet, but the customer service seemed better and you get free drinks!

  2. If you do need to get a state license - they are nothing compared to the Uk tests! I didnt have a license when I was in the UK - but I know how hard they make them! I've been in Arizona for a month now and have already got my AZ license. I got my permit a day after I got my SSN and a week later, I passed my driving test!

  3. I noticed that my husband's DS-3025 was marked incomplete by the doctor in Brazil. However, when the CS transferred the vaccines to the I-1693, he marked complete. Go figure...but it worked in our favor I think.

Yea mine too - mine was marked incomplete as I had MMR and the booster for measles and rubella but not mumps - but when I went to get the I-1693 the cs told me that I dont need a booster for mumps and marked it all as complete. She also asked if I had chicken pox before and how old was I - I told her I did and it was before i was 5 years old and that was enough info on that one.

  4. I dont know why, but I really dont like British food that much!! And I'm from England!! I could happily live my life never eating another pie, curry (british style or otherwise), fish n chips etc. The only thing that I will want to eat again is good ol english chocolate!!

  5. That's great

Just curious, did you go to a driving school to learn how to drive? I'm planning on doing that because my fiance told me it can lower your car insurance a lot.

    Caro,

No! lol! I actually just got my permit last week and Jamal took me out to drive almost everynight. I needed my license asap so I just went for it after driving for just 1 week! I've been told that it can lower it too - but it wasnt asked at all with USAA.

  6. I was dreading the day when I have to get added onto Jamals insurance. As a brand new driver (got my license 2 days ago), never driven before I came to the states and not being married yet, I was scared just how much the insurance would be for me! i was getting stupid quotes like $800+ every 6 mnths. But we called USAA today and they added me on, full coverage for just $45 a month!! Sometimes I hate the military, but especially during this whole visa process, the benifits have been really good and I'm glad that we've done it while Jamals been in the airforce.

  7. Hi there,

I need some advise about DL... I live in California Los Angeles, the DL office did'nt give me the DL, they asked me my SSN (who is pending, they must verify my imm status and it take 4 weeks) I showed the proof and I my EAD received yesterday (finally), but they refused it... Must wait my SSN ! very weird isn't ? I can work but without DL I can't drive (my job is pharmaceutical sales rep) ... thanks for your help.... have a great week end...

(sorry for my mistakes, I'm french :help: )

Most states, if not all, require a SSN to obtain a DL.

  8. In Tucson I have written confirmation from the DMV here that you can bring your NOA1 for adjustment of status and get it extended. When I went in last week to the centre at Stocker Drive, in East Tucson, the lady there knew everything about the K1 visa and she told me that when I get my driving license and my I-94 has expired, just bring the NOA1 (she knew what it was!) and they will extend it. So you definatly can extend the driving license whilst waiting for the greencard.

This is the best answer yet... We are expecting our NOA any day now, the checks were cashed yesterday.

You say your confirmation was 'written' - any chance of getting a copy or getting the name of the lady at the DMV who helped you?

    Bill

    I've pm'd you

  9. Is there any reason why some peoples AOS gets transfered to CSC and others dont? Is it the regional offices, random, type of visa they entered on? Looking at my local office timelines, almost everyone, wheather they came on a K3, K1, F1 or whatever seem to have interviews. I DONT want to be transfered to CSC - it seems that its a long wait at CSC. I'd rather have the interview (which seems to be 3 months and less at my local office) than be transfered to CSC and wait for 5 months + .....

  10. Congrats, you! You are putting me to shame, getting so much done after being here such a short time!!

Is driving on the 'wrong' side of the road weird, even though you didn't drive in the UK, or does it seem natural? I had some driving lessons, uh, 13 years ago, but haven't driven since... I'm still terrified I'll accidentally start driving on the left or something, though.

It was good that I didnt drive in the uk I guess. I got used to driving really quickly due to the fact that I have no old habits to break or that i'm used to driving on the otherside of the road. Life is a million times easier when you learn with an automatic! There's no way I would have even attempted to take my test so early if I had to use a stick!!!

  11. what would be the point of checking your new married name? They cant really do a background check on a name youve had for just a couple weeks/months. Just chceked on a site - 'how many of me' and it seems that noone in the usa has my 1st name! lol - it was probably just a joke site, but i wouldnt be surprised. Even in the UK (and its an English name) about 85% of people I meet have never heard it before - even through there are 2 british actresses with the same 1st name! lol!
