What do people normally wear for their interview/test? Business attire? My letter states to wear proper attire (no t-shirts, baggy jeans, etc.). Shall I dress as though I'm going to work?

I'm here for another year and a half. That is what I am thinking too (that the person who opened the package was cluless on what to do....even though it says right at the top to deliver to Military POC)

JamalNTam May I ask what bio fee did you pay? I sent fingerprint cards along with the $680...was I supposed to only send $595 (since I provided my own prints from military base)? This was a bit muddy for me...so I went ahead and sent the full fee.

The instructions I read say the following: No Bio fee is required for military applicants filing under Section 328 and 329 of the INA. Well, since I am not filing under 328 or 329 of the INA, I sent the full fee.

No problem I initially sent $595 as I believed that the bio fee was not payable since we basically provide our own fingerprints and it is quoted on several things (including my instruction packet from Frankfurt) that it was all I needed to send. I then received a letter stating that I need to pay the bio fee, so I sent a check for the bio amount (as they had already cashed my other check). Once they received that my application was processed and sent to Frankfurt.

After speaking to several people who I know that have been through this process, and USCIS, it seems that the rules have recently changed regarding the need for the bio fee - now it's payable. It wasn't previously.

319 (e) even allows spouses with less than 3 years on their greencard to apply for citizenship. How much longer are you there? I know that there is a cut-off date (something like a year before you are due to return to the States). Aside from that, maybe you just got unlucky and the person who opened and filed your wife's application didn't read it properly. Have you contacted the military help-line back in the States? They have been very helpful when I have called.

I am going through naturalization overseas now in Germany (husband is AF) and I just received my interview date for next week. I had a bit of an issue with the bio fee, and I originally submitted the outdated form, but it's been pretty straight-forward. If you have any questions then feel free to ask

So they dont ask you to do the fingerprint again? That is what i am worried about. I sent the $85 fee and my case is unsuspended but i am afraid that they would ask me to do fingerprinted in the US while i am living overseas right now. By the way, the interview is so close! I really hope that i can do it around December! It is hard to arrange all the travel at such a short notice. Thank you for the update!

No they didn't ask me to do the fingerprints again. They are using the ones that I provided

They tend to schedule interviews pretty quickly here in Germany. The did send the letter to me on the 6th October but because of the military postal system, it took 2 weeks to arrive.

I tried around 10 times lol

In he end I emailed them again with an "urgent" title about my interview being next week and they responded within minutes! So they will be rescheduling my interview in November or December and sending the letter soon. Phew!

So, my husband is AD military stationed in Germany. I applied for my N-400 in July and yesterday received a letter with my interview date - next week! They sent my letter through the military APO system so it took nearly 2 weeks to get to me. It states on the letter that I have 7 days from when it was sent to confirm my interview. The date it was sent was 10/06/2014. Obviously I couldn't do that. So I sent an email - says it will take over 5 working days to respond. Great. On top of it all, I won't be in Germany on the day they have scheduled the interview. I tried calling but no one ever picks up the phone! Not sure what to do at this point.

I contacted USCIS back in the States and was told there is nothing they can do since it's all in the hands of the embassy at this point.

Same thing happened to me. I just sent in the $85 fee and they have un-suspended my application now.

My husband has a TS and had no problems obtaining it - in fact it was approved within months. I am from England though and his foreign ties are all related to England which probably made it a lot easier for him!

Ok - so my friend and I are both sent our applications off a few weeks ago. We submitted our fingerprint cards that were done on Ramstein and enclosed a cheque for $595, since it states those who apply from overseas do not need to send in the biometric fee since you wont get them done. My friend received a letter back stating she needed to send the bio fee. The instructions on the USCIS all state that the fee should only be $595. She contacted both the regular hotline and the military one and was told the $595 is only for military members and not spouses. They say she will need to pay the extra fee even though they will accept the fingerprints that have been provided by military. Does this seem right to you guys? I just can't understand why this would be the case when documents like this ... http://www.uscis.gov/archive/archive-news/requirements-naturalization-abroad-spouses-members-us-armed-forces that clearly state applicants from outside the US pay $595.

What do I put? Do I just include the trips we have taken outside of Germany since being stationed here? Do I need to put Germany - and if so, how many days do I put since I am living here and we aren't due to return to the States until 2016? Thanks!

So it's been a long while since I was last active on this board! My husband and I now live in Germany (military orders) and I think it's about time I applied for citizenship, especially since we now have a son. I have been a permanent resident now for 6 years. So my question is this - do I apply under general or marriage? I know that the marriage one is if you have been married for 3 years but have lived in the US for less than 5 years. I'm not 100% sure how to go about it from Germany, but I know it's possible to do the interview etc in the embassy in Frankfurt I think? Thanks!

I'm def gonna keep my British citizenship. The thought of if anything would happen to my husband and I wouldn't be able to return home is enough for me to never want to loose it.

Yes - HFCS in everything .. I swear that foods are fattier here than the UK because even though I think I'm eating healthier over here, I'm gaining more weight!! When I head home I start loosing it within a few days!! It's really weird!

World Market has Cadbury's (real English stuff) and I agree with how the hersheys made ones taste wrong!

Well, I've been here for nearly 3 years .. I've been at school and haven't really actively looked for a job (although I will need to in the summer) .. but so far I've worked a few temp jobs .. a dental assistant for a week, a contractor for the Red Cross's accounts department for 2 months, an extra on 3 movies and now I'm a receptionist at a law title office .. I've also volunteered as a database specialist with the Red Cross, an admin assistant with a non-profit organization and as a tax preparer on an air force base!! Trying lots of different things! lol!
