Interview in baltimore tomorrow
Pd - July 3rd
Do they ask every single Yes/No question on the 485, that’s a lot of question
also when you answer is No Ma’am or No Sir

We just used a normal backpack. Everything goes through a scanner as if you are going through security at an airport. Belts, wallets, keys, everything out of your pockets, then you walk through the metal detector. The only reason we even needed a backpack was due to it serving dual purpose as a diaper bag. They did not even blink about it. One couple came in with a small rolling suitcase, so I don't think they care as long as restricted items are not in the bags/packs. We had everything in a binder with separate sections for each item from their checklist. Most of it the IO never even asked for, though she did take all our additional evidence that we offered her.
Good luck tomorrow, I am sure it will go great.
Thank you
I don’t feel nervous, just more excited for the process to be over
do they ask every single Yes/No question cos there is a lot of them, or just pick 8/10 of them

Just had our interview today with Interviewing Officer Chen. She was extremely personable and professional. Asked my wife about the names and birth dates of everyone, parents, myself, our son, and her step sons, about my previous marriage, our marriage date, point of entry, and entry date. My asawa nailed all the answers. During that time IO Chen made us feel very comfortable, which helped a lot because my asawa was stressing the day before. The appointment was at 8 am, and we were out the door by 8:45 am. We received a form stating they had everything they needed and we would hear from them within a week or two....... now more waiting, but at least the interview is done.
Thank you for sharing, my interview is tomorrow
Question- what kind of bag did you take everything in,
Is anybody being approved on the day now in Baltimore, from other posts even from other states, it seems no1 is being approved on the spot
-
Good luck to everyone with interviews upcoming
My interview is this week, I’m confident but no expecting to be approved on the day.
After speaking to USCIS the system doesn’t make sense, the interviewer can’t really make a decision, they have to consult with a person above them who as never met you.
That manager goes off the advice of the interviewer, what a mad system

I would talk to someone about it. I actually didn’t believe him that it would be possible but he swore to me that he read ppl in Maryland were getting their license before the EAD. So I told him try and let me know how it goes. He came back that day saying he has no issues.
All depends on who you speak to and get at the MVA, some people are clueless to our situation
Its amazing how people who work in these officers don’t have a clue how the visa system work

So he can't drive again until his EAD comes? This is crazy.
I was on a work visa so had a valid licnse cos of that and my EAD came before my work visa expired so I never had that issue
You could technically drive on a out of country legal license, but if he got pulled over and the cars not registered to his license I believe he would have a problem
he could drive on a rental car though
back to your Temp license, I went the MVA twice in 6 months to update it cos my status changed when my EAD came,

My husband got his drivers license after we got married on the K1 visa.... He just noticed that it's expired and has a restriction of "T" Temporary time limit. What did we do wrong? What do we need to do to get this converted? VERY frustrated now.
Standard procedure, untill you get the 10 year green card you’ll be back at the MVA and only Temporary ones issued,
Once your EAD comes the license will be valid for a year, get your 2 year GC than the licnses will be valid for 2 years

Yeah, not sure. We definitely heard squeals of delight from another room when we were having our interview, so someone got some good news! It's the case not updating on line that's annoying too, as some people who posted that they were told they just had to wait checked their status on line "in the car" and it had already changed. Mine still hasn't updated to say I have an interview!
My online case status for i485 is still on RFE Received and that was from August, my interview is next week.
I didn’t even get a text/email alert to say about the interview.
it was just there in my mailbox one day

Just had our interview this morning, in Baltimore.
Our appointment was 7.30 and we checked in about 10 minutes early. We were given the number K11 but told to listen out for my name. At least 13 couples got called before we did so the number didn't mean all that much. We were called through at about 7.55. The woman was friendly enough and professional. She told us that it is now standard practice in Baltimore for the interviews to be video recorded. Have others been told this because no-one else seems to have mentioned it?! She just said "ignore the camera" which is a tiny web cam on the corner of her computer screen so it was very easy to ignore! She asked my husband my full name, date of birth, where I was born, my parents' names and whether he has met them. She asked me the same questions about him, but also asked me when we got married and where. As I'm still unemployed she also asked me what my husband's previous job was. He has 2 jobs so I mentioned the previous full time job and she said she had his part-time job written down, so we explained he has 2 jobs and where he has worked on his part-time job as he has changed that since I've known him but not his main job.
She also spent bit of time sorting out our address as we moved in December and I hadn't heard back from them apart from by email so I knew they still had the old address on file. She went through all the 'terrorism' and other form questions, then asked again where my husband was born and when we got married. She asked if it was the 10th February but that's the date I picked up the Certificate, so we count our wedding day as the day we were married, which was the 18th.
Then she said she was printing out the paper that confirms the interview is over and that we will hear from them. She said "we have 120 days to write to you but it's usually much sooner" but gave no other indication of whether or not we were 'ok'. Other people have posted similar things on here so I wasn't too surprised, but then again, many people seem to say "we were told there and then that we were successful" so maybe it depends on the officer in question. As others have said they checked none of our paperwork, nothing that is mentioned as being essential on the form, no photos, nothing. Maybe they will ask for more in 2 years.
So that's it. On line status still says "case is ready to be scheduled for interview" so that's useless as well. So I guess we are just waiting for the mail to come now!
Thank you for the update and good luck.
I am not expected to be approved on the day, after reading a lot of time lines it now seems to be the norm to get the white paper with the decision.
I wonder if they can only approve a certain number of people a day

Also, quick update on my interview experience. I don't think there was any suspicion that my husband and I weren't actually in a bona fide marriage. We were asked nothing other than to verify our address. Then he went through that long list with me about espionage and overthrowing the government. Then asked me to verify my mother's name and birthday. They only asked my husband where he was born. They did ask where we met but that's all they asked about us as a couple. My husband and I left the interview quite upset because we were prepared to answer so many questions about our day to day and our marriage and got NOTHING lol. I think I submitted too much evidence with my initial application because we brought more stuff and the IO said "no, please, we have enough. Keep it all." So, I'm pretty sure we were approved. The told me at the end that I should receive my GC in the mail and told me all about the 2 year limitations etc etc, so I asked candidly "does this mean we're approved?" They said they just need to go into the system and make sure everything matches up. But that's all.
Thanks for the update on the interview.
I have my interview next week, does anyone have any more experiences or what to expect.
I’m relaxed about the whole thing but my wife is nervous.

My AOS Marriage Interview is Feb 3rd in Baltimore.
PD July 3rd 2017, Bio August 22nd (had to delay it cos of working)
With the current government shut down, are we in danger of having the interview rescheduled or it will be they can’t make a decision due to current situation, anyone have any ideas on this

We had an RFE but it stopped the process for just 13 days. It was just because I hadn't sent a certified copy of the marriage certificate, only a photocopy (which was silly of me!) so it didn't take much analyzing on receipt I guess.
My RFE was for a tax transcript for 2016, we submitted straight away, they started working on my case again August 15th so not much of a delay

Thanks!
Yes, they're getting through them it seems. Ignoring the official info on the USCIS site about processing times which tells us they are stuck in Nov 2016. I suspect that is perhaps info on their oldest case? Either way, I'm sure you'll hear something soon :-)
I’m a July 3rd filer, and my interview is Jan 31st, I did get an RFE so I don’t know how the logic works of the USCIS

I've read stories on VJ of IOs telling couples they've been approved at the end of the interview, but don't get upset if that doesn't happen. We got handed a piece of paper saying they were "unable to make a decision at that time" and our case was being "continued," which really freaked us out. Then we got an approval notice 4 days later dated the day of the interview, and when we got his green card his residency begin date was the date of the interview. The IO must have known he was going to approve us when he gave us that piece of paper, he just didn't say anything.
Yeah I have seen a lot of that, with the white paper saying we will make a decision soon, a few of my friends had it, and got approved 2-10 days later
that’s what I’m expecting to receive, not getting my hopes up
