Glad to find another GR couple ourselves! Congrats on your approval. The process was a breeze compared to everything else we've been through.

We had our interview today in Detroit. Just wanted to share our experience.

We arrived about 25 minutes early. After we went through security and reception, we were told to sit in the waiting room where my name would be called.

The appointment was at 13:10. We were called at about 12:55. I'm assuming we were in the system as "arrived" or something since we were called early. We literally walked in, took an oath to tell the truth, verified our names, address and birthday and left. Our application had apparently already been approved. The woman explained that they used to be able to waive the interviews, which we knew, but now they are required to see everyone face to face. Even if there is no real reason. We were back on the road at 13:07.

She told us that my green card would arrive in 2 weeks and to please keep our address updated in the system for when we have to file the i-751.

    Simple as that!

Nope, no combo card. I called USCIS to inquire and they claimed it was normal. According to the rep sometimes they do things differently for no reason. Smh.

Check the bottom of your EAD card, if it says something like "Serves as I-512 Advance Parole", then it serves as your EAD and AP card - we never got any online update about AP either, just a mail and it shows that on our card.

Mine weren't gotten around to until two days past the date they said they'd answer by. I'm guessing you're pretty close to getting them assigned.

    Two things.
    1) It would not slow down your process, if anything you would just be denied the expedite and return to normal processing time.
    2) If your wife is unable to work and generate income, this is a serious financial loss on your part. If she is on maternity leave and is still generating the same income, they might ask for further proof, but it doesn't hurt to call and discuss this with someone. If you need to, demand to speak to a tier 2 person.

This is the best advice. Doing everything you can without shame and just being diligent with follow ups and service requests is all you can do.

My first SR (placed on day 90) was assigned and responded to with a letter in the mail a week later saying my case was under review. I put another online service request in as soon as i received it.

A week after SR1 and four days after SR2 I got the update.

So I've done a bit of research and our congresswoman has a pretty short form to formally register a case.  It takes about 10 days for them to process the form and assign you a case manager, but from there that person is your liason with USCIS and it looks like they can be really helpful.

We filled out the form, included copies of his NOA's, his I-94, his K1 visa, and his passport ID page, and sent it off!

We're willing to do anything that could help us at this point.  And if he gets his EAD/AP before we hear back from the congresswoman, no harm no foul, it took about 15 minutes to fill out the form and make all the copies.

    Fingers crossed!

Local. I called and said "I'm having issues with my immigration application, who can help me?" And she gave me the number to the woman who deals with the immigration issues on behalf of my congressman. I called and told her what was happening. She knew the process and all the lingo so it was easy to explain. I only made my USC spouse because I thought it would be more effective letting them know my USC spouse is young, future military, and born and raised in the state we live.

I say do it! The thing is I did sooooo many things, I can't point to the thing that ultimately got me approved. The only step you need to get to is being asked for more evidence to justify the expedite.  Then we will ALL tackle that together.

No, I did quite a lot because I was desperate.

    1. Included letter in application. I doubt that helped any.
    2. CONTACTED MY CONGRESSMAN!! Call them!!!
    3. Wrote in to the ombudsman. This also never helped because I was still within the processing time. It might work out differently for you.
    4. Put in FIVE SRs on the phone. Asked that they read me back whatever it was they typed in the SR request and constantly mentioned that I would lose my job.
    5. Had my USC husband call and email the congressman with his voter ID number constantly asking for updates.
    6. Contacted the SENATOR. Now he said he couldn't help. But what he DID do was contact the congressman (AGAIN) on my behalf.
    7. Booked TWO infopasses. They were also unhelpful because they said they had "never seen" an EAD get produced in 1 month (well, in your face USCIS!!!) Because you are well overdue, this might be different for you too. Schedule an infopass asap and bring all your documents.

I EVENTUALLY received an email from USCIS asking me for evidence. Once you get there, we can discuss all the things to send in.

You need to call and talk to a tier 2 and ask why the hell nobody is listening to you. Tell them you're about to lose your job! Cry! I did! Lol. You need to schedule an infopass. And you need to call your congressman.

I am with you in this because I know how stressful it was having a job on the line.

And also maybe they didn't ask for evidence because they're already processing your application? Could be!

sending allllll the positive vibes your way xoxoxo

Wow losing a job is not an emergency? I think you should try again, it doesn't sound right that someone can see loss of a job as no big deal. Like  @millrbrit said, you gotta be on their neck, don't let them breathe LoL, maybe they'd do what they ought to do...

We got our case status update text/email notice two Thursday nights ago, aug 17, then another update last Tuesday evening that it was mailed, and received it in the mail a few days later on Friday, so it took one week plus one day (EAD/AP combo card for K1 to AOS)

Great. Thanks, Trump for yet another horrible immigration policy. It's scary that our futures potentially hang in the balance with all of the changes happening with immigration laws. Green card, please come quick! Good luck to anyone waiting for their interview.
