@goblin Did you receive any update on on your name change court order? I was under the impression that if you requested a name change (in Vegas) that oath ceremony would be held at the court and get the court order right away.

I filed the in November as well with a name change. Still waiting for an interview😥.

The USCIS field office sent me a form N-662 signed by the court, eight days after the ceremony via UPS. They did not inform me in any way before and the driver just left the envelop in front of my door so keep and eye on that since I don't think it is the safest to do. I checked the tracking number myself then and they mailed it the day before and that is also the day my case status was changed to "certificate of naturalization was issued".

I will now go to the SSA office, DMV and Police (CCW) to change my name, they all require it in person.

If you are still waiting on an interview in Las Vegas then that is certainly long. I also filed in November but got my first interview date late January. However it first was scheduled for early March and then got pushed back for 6 weeks but then all went smooth. Never asked why they re-scheduled.

    Good luck.

  2. I join the HAPPY group of officially a U.S. CITIZEN now! 🥳

6,5 years from immigrating (EB1A) in November 2016 till my oath yesterday. I would say I could also have done it sharp around the 5 year mark but I had to wait on the German government longer to approve me dual citizenship on their end. Otherwise I probably wouldn't have moved forward with this since loosing my European access wasn't an option no matter how much I also wanted to become a U.S. Citizen.

Now I don't want to use the word "disappointing" since this is so much BIGGER then anything in detail. But something I was always looking very forward to was the actual oath ceremony and best scenario would have been here in Las Vegas in the main city hall and inviting lots of friends to experience this special American moment, flags, colors, proud faces everywhere, national anthem, get some pictures while taking the oath and all that glorious good stuff! But it ended up being in the field office, NO 😞 guests allowed! We all walked in, they collected the invitation and asked some questions from that again, had to hand in our green cards and were assigned to a seat, handed the naturalization certificates at our seat, chance to ask a few group questions, mine was how long it takes to receive the court order for a name change since without that I cant do anything post naturalization here like adjusting status with the social security office, name change drivers at the DMV etc.... and then the judge came up on a big video screen, a few words, asked everyone to raise their hands and she READ of the the oath of allegiance herself and everyone just needed to confirm with "Yes I will". Congratulations and then it was over soon after and everyone left. 🤷‍♂️😞🥰

  3. Congratulations!! One of the best moments in life. 🥳

I have my oath ceremony scheduled soon at the same field office in Las Vegas. I was hoping that it will be held at some venue like the City Hall since I have many friends who would LOVE to come and witness this special event but nonetheless I am very excited to finally reach the final goal.

Were you allowed inside as a guest? (I assume not at this location.) 😞

  4. PASSED my naturalization interview today in Las Vegas without any issues! 🥳

Officer was very polite and friendly. I was also worried for the fact that my interview was originally scheduled for early March but got canceled 2 weeks before, because of "unforeseeable circumstances" and then re-scheduled a good week later. Also the interview time for today got changed once again 2 weeks later after the second interview notice. There are people here in this forum and also based in LV where I can see they applied after me and were already done with the oath ceremony before my interview. So that made me wonder if anything is up with my case, also because my Greencard was employment based. However nothing during the interview indicated any problem, neither was I asked for anything work specific, tax transcripts etc.

I just passed a fairly straight forward interview and that's it. 😎

Did you guys come across some one or know how long does it take for USCIS to reschedule your interview.
I have just received a call from USCIS right before my interview that your interview for citizenship is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances and we will mail you when we reschedule your interview. They also have updated my status to “interview canceled.”

I got the same notice via email. My interview would have been next week. How long did it take to get a new appointment? The hotline cant tell me anything else except I am back in line. I see you are done by now. Congrats! 😊

Thanks to everyone for their responses - I'll give it a few days after arriving, and then check with my local SSO.

Has been explained well multiple times already, but I just confirm again, I also had an old SSN from an F1 student visa from 2000 because I worked on campus. After my immigration in 2016 on EB1A I soon went to the closest social security office in town, I think I was even able to book an appointment at the time. Wait wasn't that long and everyone was friendly and my status got updated. I didn't have my original card anymore so they mailed me a new one and also the I-551 Stamp was sufficient for identification.

    Good luck! 😊

    Hi ladies and gentlemen,

I have got a question. My partner has applied for O1 visa 2 weeks ago through the standard process. Since we are in a bit of a hurry we are thinking to change it to a premium process. But we also have heard that the premium process is more difficult to get approved. Just wanted to know your experience with premium and standard process, is that a correct statement and the approval of the premium visa is really more difficult than the standard process or they are not different at all. Appreciate your responses.

Opinions on this can vary. Most lawyers will say it does NOT matter. Mine said the same and I went with PP and had a clean walk through. In case you have an attorney also consult him on this matter and I would probably go for it. You would also not be the first one who ended up having trouble with their sponsors due to long regular processing .

  8. Never heard of a case where this was necessary and it doesn't make much sense either. The consular officer is NOT the authority to determine your extraordinary ability, that is and was the USCIS. And that is what all this material was for.

He is responsibly to check your civil records, your medical exam, will mostly ask question about your finances and to make sure you will not end up becoming a public charge to the government... and if there is any major discrepancy about the case and the person in front of him. If he wants to flip through the pages he can, but mine certainly did not during my interview and acted like he hasn't even looked at it. He asked my lots of questions and kept typing into his computer and was very much interested in my income. I brought some updated material and mostly financial records, tax returns and bank statements. So if any advice to bring something, then bring those, even though I had not to hand in anything.

Otherwise leave redundant things at home, since the stress level is already through the roof during that day.

Btw, congrats on your approval. 😎

  9. The envelope(s) has all the documents in it from the beginning of the application. I can confirms so, because I had 6 of those, super thick  for my EB category and could see parts of my evidence through the corner cut outs, WITHOUT opening anything of course.😉

Lets say it this way, yes it was disastrous of the brother to open the mail, but probably he was just excited and didn't know better.

Its not the end of the world however, you might end up loosing some money, your flights and some nerves.

Get it re-sealed, whatever it takes and then good luck with your new life.

  10. I got an EB1A as a musician in 2016, but I was already close to 20 years in the biz at that time. So I had a bigger resume catalogue to pick from. I never went for an O1 visa, but was considering it first. You can try to somewhat find you place, evaluate your chances, by looking at others, but at the end if somebody is not in the exact field, country and competing with you directly, it wont help you that much, in fact might even falsely intimidate you.

What matters at the end is your own confidence, achievements and finding the right lawyer. I had many consultations before I picked mine and can say some were totally the wrong fit for me. I could have also regretted it big time! One even said I have no chance on O1 or EB1. That was partially to the fact, he wasn't paying attention much, not specialized in the field of arts and I didn't presented my material right for the evaluation.

Just from what you write here its not possible to evaluate your chances, neither I see myself really capable of doing so anyways. Also, every case is different and I can be a very subjective process.

    Good answers so far too!

  11. I also agree that sponsoring on

She can look for work, attend interviews, etc whilst on a B-2. Extremely unlikely she will get a work visa for a job in a casino unless she is in a senior management role. Croupiers and hostesses don't get work visas.

I agree. Depending her country of origin she "at least" has the B Visa and that gives her more legal time in the country to make new contacts. I know somebody who was also crew with the same visa combo from an ESTA country, where it otherwise would have been hard to obtain a B visa.

Maybe there is a way to the US in the long run, depending on her future education plans.

  12. GOOD luck to you guys for the interviews! :)

As for the job offers or potential interest by clients, whatever you have, bring it.

I even brought some email correspondence of a hiring process I was in. It was not needed and ultimately I didn't get the job after my approval, but the officer liked me talking about the potential position, what I would do there in my field of endeavor. I also mentioned some more loose job offers and potential clients. I just presented myself confident mentioning some of those and that I will certainly make my way in the US and where to look for work.

@Richard: You are going to see that new London embassy. :D

My lawyer said the job doesnt require an experience but I saw this post from a forum and it scared me :(

That post was confusing... how could that person have gotten the labor certification and passed the USCIS application process without the required minimum experience?

exactly my thoughts! thats why i didnt bother with the croatian nursing board exam . i tohught as long as i have us licesne i shouldnt need it. yes i have an attorney that represents both me and my employer. thanks for your reply. i feel better!

    You are welcome!

Also consult your attorney to give you a quick briefing for the interview and answer your questions.

Let us know the result of the interview plz. Good luck!

  15. I don't see a reason why, since you actually HAVE a US nursing license and will work in the US. And with all due respect for your education in your home country, but the US wont accredit your nurse education from there most likely anyways. They do that with lots of foreign doctors either, from excellent countries, where you actually wonder why.

I think you are all set, but do you or your sponsor have hired an attorney?

I am not an expert, but went through consular processing for my EB-1A and I think most of the EB categories are somewhat similar in regards to the interviews. You have passed the crucial part and that was USCIS.

  16. Assigning interview slots for the consulates starts usually around the end of the month to about the fist 10 days of the following one.

You can call NVC to usually find it out a bit earlier until they send out the invitation letters.

My CC was on the 9th and the date assigned on the 27th of the month. I found out via phone on the 28th day and the invitation email came on the 29th.

  17. Can only give you general feedback on this one, but the interview is basically the governments real  LAST chance to discover any type of fraud or serious clashes in the application. The CO officer is not supposed to adjudicate your case anymore, since that has been done by USCIS. But they have the authority to stop the process right there, if they think that a serious mistake has been made and will send it back to USCIS.

HOWEVER don't want to scare you, because that is not what this is all about if everything is fine and you have all you documents and information regarding the application with you. Make sure you know your case well and be ready for all sorts of questions that anybody could possibly ask you about this upcoming position. They want to see if you are really YOU!

If you want practice it with somebody in a dialogue, go ahead, it helps. I made a question and answer list for myself some days ahead and read my petition letter over and over again.

Give simple answers, don't start to argue, just present yourself confident and all should be ok.

    Good luck! ;)

In this link you sent only shows AT NVC.

I will make a phone call to NVC.

    Thank you

Ok that means you are trying to login at the DS-260 application center:

    https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx

I even can still login there with my case number and invoice ID after 1 year now.

Again I don't think it is much of an issue since you are done with the process and your case is still at NVC but yes give them a call just to make sure and let us know.
