No, Smoke is entirely on point here, and I couldn't agree more with his post. This thread is inflammatory and dramatic at best...a 'plea' to 'levelheaded' members. Which implies (to me) that you are saying there are more non-levelheaded members there, which is rude and insulting.
The threads I see you participate in are those which are more of a serious nature. There may be people there (including myself) who pretty much disagree with everything you say, but that disagreement makes neither of us non-levelheaded. The 'racism' label is thrown around wayyy too much in there, and is used as a red herring argument (most times, if not everytime that I've seen) as means of diffusing someone's conflicting opinion. I've said this a million times...if you feel something said is racist, then report it...but to sit here and paint the whole of OT as being a primarily unreasonable cesspool of rasicm where members 'hate brown people', well, that's gone wayyyyyyyy too far.
Members will come and go and perhaps come back again. The excuse 'it's worse than ever!' is as overused as the racist label. Pretty much every mb will have that same charge somewhere on their boards, and I've heard it here for almost as long as I've been here. And the fact that Ewok has chosen to govern OT the way he has will basically make it self-evolving, and those who want to participate will, the way they want...and if you don't like it, either lead by example (as Smoke said) or perhaps it's you who needs to go.

I don't think the problem for society is that fundamentalists lack a sense of humour about the idiosyncrasies of their own religions; society at large couldn't care less if they find it funny or not, but that their reaction to the creation of satire is to incite violence. That is a huge problem for society, particularly if threats of violence translate into violent actions against satirists - or anyone else who doesn't agree with their point of view for that matter.

this "housing authority" is spending your tax dollars to give free housing to welfare families. they are an arm of the state, and have the authority to determine a family unsuitable for free housing on basis of various offenses, including use of the facility for prostitution or drug trafficking, or any other illegal activity. truancy has now been added to the lost.

The US has a strong christian tradition, although this is weakening and fast. Once the now young liberals take over it will almost dissappear I suspect. The culture of america is changing fast. And I ask, is the culture youre seeing america morph into the culture you want for yourself and your children?
Multiculturalism has failed but no-one will admit it. Its led to religious and race based strife. Each group cloistered and for the most part separating themselves from other groups. Each group trying to change the country and its laws and its culture to suit themselves. So you get distrust, bitterness and violence, physical and rhetorical. and of course the youth gangs. I see it here in australia in the cities.
Thats why the burka should be banned. Its a form of separation from and rejection of the ethos of cultures coming together to live peaceably together, not separately, as americans who will pledge their allegiance to america and the greater good of its people as first priority. And its one reason why the american culture, as it was made into by many previous generations, is changing fast. you have so many now coming in to the west from other cultures who give their allegiance firstly to their own country and culture and religion and take what they can get that suits them from their new country. Just look at the mexican politicians bleating about the arizona law....all they care about is their own people and would vote unconditional amnesty tomorrow if they could. What do they care about whats good for the nation as a whole.
If you want to wear a burka, stay in the country where its accepted and youre respected for wearing it for goodness sake. Dont go to a country where you act so differently and cant or wont assimililate into and embrace the overall culture. Why would you do it?
