It will be a very short time.....compared to the time you have been waiting for the visa........it took my wife about 90 minutes at DFW.

Yes, better to be safe than sorry. I dont think it would get denied, but might delay the process if they want to see them. And we only provided translations for the following:
    - birth certificate
    - police records
    - single status certificates

The best evidence is being there with your fiance in my opinion! It was intimidating to be at embassy but after the process I realized it was more relaxed than I anticipated. I think the packet just says translations are recommended by not required. I had a friend that's bilingual translate them the day before. Anyone who is competent in both languages can do it. Attached are a few of ours: Doc5 Translated.pdfDoc6 Translated.pdfDoc7 Translated.pdf. I also had her sign the translations after we printed.

I think the bank statements will work. I would just make sure it shows when your account was opened, balance, etc. I just went to my credit union and they provided a deposit verification that includes my name, open date, current balance and date letter was produced.

That is for the Spanish documents, they should also be in English... certified translations which only means that the person doing the translation certifies in a separate affidavit that they are fluent in both languages, etc. I had others do them for me, like friends and coworkers for free, but you can also pay services to do that. I attached an affidavit copy if you want it to give to whoever translates them

My fiance had his interview in San Jose on Monday and his visa was approved! I attended with him and the consular office asked me more questions that him. Overall it was very simple. If you have any questions, I'm happy to answer for those preparing for the interview. I will also write a review in the consulate section for CR.

For financial docs we provided I-134 form, pay stubs for past month, 2017 tax returns, w-2, letter from bank and employer letter (some docs were originals and some were copies like the employer & bank letters). We also brought monthly bank statements but they did not ask for these. It's important that the single status certificate is from the Civil Registry NOT the Alcaldia. Since my fiance is from Nicaragua he provided 2 certificates (one from each country). He also provided 2 police records - the CR one must state for tramites internacionales. His record from Nicaragua only state tramites migraciones and they accepted it. They reviewed all docs and returned the Nica docs back to him.

We were told his K-1 visa will be ready by the end of the week (other visa types would like 7-10 days)! Good luck to the rest of you!

It's indeed insane. With my work's insurance, I pay 25%, they pay 75% of the monthly premium. As single, I pay 75.00/month. But when my fiance gets here, it'll go to 500/month.. yikes! And to think, 500/month is only paying 25% of the cost  And to top that off, I have a 2500 deductible, but preventive care is free. As long as nothing major happens, it's not too unbearable, for now

The info needed for the medical/lab tests is in the packet. I believe the link to the packet has been posted in this thread a few times. Definitely ID and passports photos are required, your fiancé also should print the DS 160 confirmation page.

My fiancé did the lab tests and x-rays the same day and scheduled the physical exam 2 weeks later because we were trying to find his vaccinations records. I don’t have a good timeline but your fiancé can call one of the doctors and they will probably have more info.

    Hi!!
They usually take like 1-3 days to have the results, however they don’t give you results. They actually send them to the doctor you scheduled your appointment with! (I just did that this morning)

Also, he’ll need his 2x2 pictures (which are 2-3) and his id!

    Hey everybody!

I thought I would start a thread for Costa Rica filers to collect and share experiences, wisdom and advice.  Share your story and let us know how your immigration is progressing.  Any tips about interviews, medical, or documentation for the embassy would be super helpful for future filers.  For those further along, how has the transition to living in the U.S. been for you?  Also feel free to just come hang out and chat with fellow CR filers about anything that's on your mind.

Estamos en el foro regional, así que siéntese libre de comunicar también en español!

I'm mailing my 1-134F and supporting documents to my fiance in CR, any tips on the best way to send it? I was planning for FedEx, but I could use some advice. He lives in a pretty rural town so his mail goes to the post office. All pointers would be much appreciated!!!

Don't be concerned as long as you are married before 90 days and you are filing AOS she is fine. I send my package and today received bio letter app. You have to remember fiance is getting married to a US Citizen and that makes them immediate relative under the law. Just follow process and you will be fine. Good luck!!

Hi PuraVida group! My Tico husband and I just got our I-130 approval today (11/06/18)....SO HAPPY THAT FINALLY THAT IS OVER! We are now waiting for the case number from NVC and then for the consulate to receive the case so they send us an appt. Has anyone here had experience with how long it took after their NOA2 to get to NVC and then to the consulate in San Jose? Then how far out was the interview date.

We had out interview today at the San Antonio office. We got there at 9:20 and it was packed but moving quickly.  Our interview was scheduled for 9:45 and we were called in around 10:00. The officer was a nice man who chatted with us about small things like my husbands veteran status. Very short interview with basic questions:
    - full names
    - parents names
    - place of birth
    - where do you work
    - spouses full name and birthday
    - how we knew each other
    - what we loved about one another (I cried when this question came up and I spoke about how loving and patient and caring my husband is for going through this whole process with me... looking back I’m a bit embarrassed but oh well)
    - a lot of I485 have you ever questions
The officer then asked to see our photos and evidence that we lived and were together. Asked who was in one group photo and asked who the baby was in another. He asked for joint bank account statements and also took a copy of our updated lease. He asked us if we planned on starting a family soon.
He then said he was going to recommend us for approval and pass it onto his supervisor to have the last say.
Outlined how to go about getting conditions removed and applying for citizenship. He even suggested that since I’m young I could go back to school and do a lot of things for myself as a citizen. By 10:25 we were walking out of the office and at 11:15 I got multiple text updates stating that my new card was being produced.  Overall 5/5 experience.
