Do you have delivery confirmation? If yes, don't worry - it took about a month or so for me to receive anything from USCIS acknowledging receipt.
Yes I have the UPS delivery confirmation.
My only doubt is that we sent my husbands tax return from 2015 because he was still yet to file is 2016 one and the cutoff date is the 15th of April, do you think they'll send an RFE to get the latest tax return?
-
Hi guys,
I'm getting a little nervous because me and my husband sent my AOS package on the 20th of March via UPS, it was delivered on the 22nd of March but I still haven't heard anything from them. No NOA hard copy, no email, no text.
Is anyone on the same boat as me? And if so, how can I contact USCIS to ask for more informations?

I would encourage you to go to a completely different SSA office if possible.
Now as you can see on the guide a marriage certificate isn't required: http://www.visajourney.com/content/ssn However, are you trying to change your name? While I wouldn't recommend doing that, at least yet, when you change your name they might want to see a marriage certificate. For instance when we got married, I decided to change my name and they wanted proof of taking my husband's name. However, you entering on a K1 and being eligible for an SSN isn't based upon your marriage because you can obtain an SSN before marriage. If you wait too long of course then you won't be able to get one until your EAD (or green card comes). But no, of course you don't need a marriage certificate, nor does your husband need to be standing with you either (goodness!). We got my husband's SSN before we married so there was no marriage certificate to even present. The SSA employee is not understanding you, or how to do their job. Request a supervisor and print out their own regulations so they know where to look. When you apply for an SSN, as you did the first time, they should show you a printout that you must carefully confirm with them that your details have been entered in correctly.
...and sadly this is what you often get at the SSA, the DMV.. all sorts of state-run agencies. I didn't have much hope when we went to our tiny town's local SSA that they would even know how to handle such a case. Strangely they did and it went flawless. I quote: "never seen A British before.. we usually just get those 'mexiCUNS' ya know....''
This is exactly why I was so annoyed at the woman, because she obviously didn't know what she was talking about!
I'm not trying to change my name as I decided to keep my maiden and also, when I first applied for the SSN I wasn't married yet, and if there was no mix up with the address, I probably would have it already.
I'm going back tomorrow and I sincerely hope she won't be the one serving me, I'm starting to miss european government employees hahah

Hi all,
A very angered me is writing this message, because no matter what, anywhere you go in the world, people who work for the government seem to always be rude and extremely frustrated with their lives.
I went to the SSN office about a month and a half ago, which is when I first moved to NYC and I applied for my SSN. I brought my I-94, my SSN form completed and my passport. The man who served me told me to wait about 2 weeks and I'd receive it.
Two weeks went by and I didn't receive anything, I went back and they told me the address I had provided was wrong (HIGHLY DOUBT THAT) and that I had to reapply, given I didn't have a I-94 with me, I had to go back again today.
When I was called to the cubicle, this super rude lady asked me what was I there for and after explaining the whole thing and giving all my documents, she told me that she either needed my husband to be there with me or my marriage certificate. I tried to explain to her that what she was saying was incorrect because on the website, it says nothing about marriage license, and my K1 visa expires in like four months so I just didn't understand what the problem was.
She accused me of telling her how to do her job and shouted at me and just really made me soon angry!!
Can you please confirm that I don't need to show them my marriage license? I mean, I don't want issues so I'll go back tomorrow and bring it to her but I just want to know if she was right or not, especially because she treated me so badly! She kept saying "YOU GOT ENGAGED TO AN AMERICAN CITIZEN AND THAT GRANTED YOU ACCESS" in the most spiteful and rude tone ever, as if I was a dirty scum that got married only to move here. These people get me so mad!!! If only they knew what me and Jon and thousands of couples go through to get this done!
Anyway, rant done. Do they need my marriage license or not?

Okay, thank you!
Also can I be cheeky and ask if you have a cover letter sample for the AOS?
-
Hi guys,
I have a quick and maybe stupid question.
When paying for the AOS, do we need to do 2 different money orders one for the AOS and one for the Biometrics or do we just do one that amounts the total?

Hi! I went to see Dr. Blau at 305 Broadway in Manhattan, the zip code is 10007 and the suite number is 444 on the 4th floor.
He's super nice and he only charged me $60. You'll have to wait about an hour and it's a walk in so you don't need an appointment

Hi guys,
Does anyone know a civil surgeon in Brooklyn or Manhattan that I can go to to get my vaccinations record transcribed?
I did all my vaccines after my medical exam in London and now I just need a doctor to transcribe them and fill the form to send for my AOS.
I called a clinic but they told me I should get my medical done by them, which is weird cause I know a lot of you managed to only get the documents they needed without going through the medical exam again.
I would really appreciate your help!
-
Guys thank you so much! I was stressing about having to do the medical again and wait endlessly for the results, but I'm happy we can save time and $$.
Thank you very much!

Hi guys,
I hope you're all well.
I moved to New York on the 11th of January and me and Jon got married yesterday but we have a problem.
In the process of moving out of my London flat, I forgot a folder in which I had the paperwork that was given to me at the medical exam, I asked my flatmate to send it to me but she wrote the wrong address and didn't put her address so USPS had no way of delivering it to us and it's now gone into dead mail, so it will be next to impossible to find. I contacted Knightsbridge medical to see if I could get a copy, and they said that they could only send me the vaccination report but that I have to contact the embassy for the rest of it.
Now I haven't contacted the embassy yet, but does this mean I will have to do my medical exam all over again with a USCIS CS here in Brooklyn? Please could you please clarify for me?
Thank you

At Gatwick waiting to board my flight!!!!
My 302-day journey is almost over. My husband said "now what are you going to worry about all the time?" I said "I've still got CBP at POE to get through!"
LOL, good luck girl.
Let us know once you're there

Hi all,
I'm wondering if once I get my GC after filing for AOS I will be eligible for financial aid for students as I'm trying to enroll for a postgraduate course at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC, but I would like to understand if I will meet the requirements for the loan even though I originally entered as a K-1.
Could you please clarify/help?
Thanks

CEAC still showing administrative processing...
Getting anxious!
Chill girl, nothing to worry about
Mine was in AP for 4 days (the embassy was also closed the day after my interview), your status will change for sure between today and Monday

Hi, I live in London. The Tube is your best option, get the Piccadilly line (westbound) all the way to Knightsbridge and the clinic is just a short walk from the station, Knightsbridge has a few exits, the most convenient for you would be the Sloane Street one.
Keep in mind as of the past couple of weeks Transport for London has been experiencing issues on a number of lines so I would recommend leaving well before your appointment time, if you get there too early there are loads of cafes and shops to go to while you wait, and you also have Harrods

Ahh this makes me so happy! I'm from Scotland in the UK, my fiance is from New York, USA. We're going to submit in December and I was just browsing to see how quickly people were getting approved!!
Enjoy Christmas with your fiance!
I can't wait to get this process started and completed haha!! <3
Good luck girl!
-
I couldn't agree more with your appreciation. My partner is literally 30 minutes from boarding his flight now and I will see him for first time in person in 16 months as he arrives in the US on his K-1. And I couldn't appreciate the knowledge from this site more!
Best of luck to both of you on your future together!
Awww that's so exciting!!!! Good luck hun, all the best!

Hi guys,
This is just a post to thank you all for your help.
We started this journey in June and we thought it was going to be long and painful, but it turned out to be easier than we expected. We finally got my visa and passport back and we have booked my flight to New York on the 27th of January, we will be spending Christmas in Italy with my parents and I'll take a month to get ready and leave my house in London before I enter the US.
Thank you soooooo much to each one of you that helped and made this much easier for me and us, we are so happy and we can't wait to be together!
To all the new starters, YOU'LL BE FINE, especially if you're part of this community. Good luck everyone, I wish you all the best
P.S.: I updated my timeline every step of the way and also left an embassy review, so please feel free to have a look at them if you need to

You have a similar timeline to mine. I had my interview on Nov 10th 12:00pm too, but sadly I was there for almost 3 and a half hours. Interview was quick and painless thankfully, the consular officer was very nice and approved it after a couple minutes.
Case status was AP on the 14th and issued on the 15th. I've just booked a flight on the 29th, so I'm hoping the courier service will contact me soon!
Also, just to let you know I received the DX courier email about 30 mins ago, so yours should hopefully be on its way too

3 and a half hours????? OMG why??
Anyway yea, our timeline is basically the same.
Can you create your VJ timeline for your profile? It will help us and other people starting the process to get a better understanding of the average timescales
