Agreed.  The EAD is for an alien authorized to work.  Once theGC is received one would move to category 3.

I don't know but if it was me I'd go for #4, alien allowed to work until.. and then put the date of my EAD. If you get the job you can just show the employer the greencard once you receive it.

I can't see how. What should they do call USCIS and say you have been a bad girl and haven't asked for their permission to marry.

Thank you Boo  I also just wanted to share this information. Many of us are looking for jobs now and I see some having problems with the EAD card as evidence of authorization. There is good information to be found on the uscis website:
    https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/employee-rights-discrimination/employee-rights
In the menu on the left under Employee rights and Resources you'll find the information below and more. Good luck job hunting.

    EMPLOYEE RIGHTS
Employers must treat employees in a non-discriminatory manner when recruiting, hiring, firing, and verifying their identity and authorization to work on Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification.
    Your employer may not:
Demand that you show specific documents because of your national origin, ethnicity, immigration or citizenship status, race, color, religion, age, gender or disability, or because of any other protected characteristic. For example, your employer may not: Require that you show a document issued by the Department of Homeland Security because you are not a U.S. citizen. Require a U.S. passport from you because you “sound foreign” and claim U.S. citizenship. Refuse to accept your document or refuse to hire you because of an unfounded suspicion that your document is fraudulent. For example, your employer may not refuse to accept your U.S. passport because you have limited English proficiency.   Treat you differently than other applicants because you are, or your employer believes that you are, a U.S. citizen or noncitizen.  Ask to see your employment authorization documents before hiring you or before you complete Form I-9.  Refuse to accept your document or refuse to hire you because your document expires in the future.  Limit jobs to U.S. citizens unless U.S. citizenship is required by law or government contract.  Demand a specific document when reverifying that you are authorized to work. You may present any document either from List A or from List C of the Lists of Acceptable Documents to demonstrate that you are still authorized to work. Your employer must:
Provide you with the entire Form I-9, including instructions for completing the form. Accept your documentation if it reasonably appears to be genuine and to relate to you. Allow you the choice of what documentation to provide. Your employer cannot demand that you provide a U.S. passport or Green Card. Reject any document that does not reasonably appear to be genuine or to relate to you. Follow the Immigration and Nationality Act’s anti-discrimination provision and not retaliate against you for: Contacting the Immigrant and Employee Rights Section (IER), Civil Rights Division, or the Equal Opportunity Commission for assistance or to file a complaint. Complaining about discrimination or otherwise asserting your or another’s rights. Participating in an investigation or lawsuit on behalf of an alleged victim. If you feel your employer did not hire you, treated you differently during the hiring or Form I-9 process, or terminated you because of your national origin, or immigration or citizenship status, call IER at 1-800-255-7688 (Worker Hotline) or 1-800-237-2515 (TTY), or visit IER’s website.
You may also contact the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) if you feel you have been discriminated against in employment based on your race, color, religion, national origin, ethnicity or any other prohibited basis. Call 1-800-669-4000 or 1-800-669-6820 (TTY), or visit the EEOC website.

Currently on day 89. Put in a service request on day 76. Just got told it was still processing blah blah. So sick of how much this process is dragged out. People entering on tourist visas get approved before K1s and I know I sound like a total brat but I don't think that's cool! We have already spent $1000
's and waited months doing everything the correct way and yet at times it feels like we are at the bottom of a pile. Surviving on only one income has been brutal for us.

I sense some defensive posts today.  Take a deep breath people! The March K-1 filers know full well what the waiting game is all about and how trying to second guess USCIS processing times and how they apply to individual cases is a waste of time. Wait the required amount of time, send an inquiry after that and cross your fingers. Good Luck!

The restart thing is just a convenient answer when they haven't gotten to it yet. I'm sure it's done the way they do all applications. SOmeone grabs a handful of applications (that are in order) and puts on their desk. Then go to work.. Now as you can imagine how fast they get to the bottom of that pile will depend on many things... how big was the pile, am I sick this week, do i have vacation this week.. is one of the cases gonna hold up the rest a lot, am I a newer or older employee, do I take my time or do I work quickly.. etc...

When she said I passed my knowledge test, first thing coming out of my nervous mouth was "F* Yes! Now I can drive to Taco Bell when I'm hungry!"

You can call them and tell them if they can run your alien number through the SAVE database. Every federal institution like the DMV and SSA office have to follow that procedure whatever you provide to confirm your legal stay.
