JessieABC, you gave me some advice a few days ago about an I-864 question, part 6, blah blah blah.
Anyway, you suggested I join thos group, but I replied that there would be no point, since we hadnt gotten our I-130 approved yet.
Well guess what, my friend? I called today as I do every Monday to see if I might get some useful info, and found out we were approved on May 4th!
So we might be joining this group afterall!
🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓😛
Yayyyyyy!!!!! Hearing about alll these approvals is great!

you are are welcome to join this forum and I'll be keeping an updated tracking sheet to give us an idea of timeframes

Thank you for you joining us. Don't hesitate to bookmark the following link in your browser's favorites for a quick reference.
I made a form and linked the spreadsheet to make it easier to maintain so there's no need to track responses.
People can fill out the form and it'll automatically update in the spreadsheet on the Forms tab.
Let me know if you'd like to merge the April and May data - the "Scan Date to CC" tab includes formulae to automatically calculate days remaining, averages and expected cc ranges

Hi. my husband called the NVC to ask if.they received our package, and they said they received the package last March 10, 2017 and havent receive any mail confirming when our scan date is. I dont know if they calling my husband since He is here in the Phil until now. What do you think is the best thing how to know when our scan date is?
You won't receive any notification confirming a scan date. If they confirmed that they received your documents on march 10th, then that is your scan date.
The next update you will receive is when your case is completed.
@JBMG put together a nifty little guide showing how you can confirm a case complete:
10 hours ago, JBMG said:Click on the following links to check your case status: Check My Visa Application Status DS-260, Online Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application If it says "At NVC" and your AOS information is missing..
Then you most likely have a completed case (CC)... -

This is amazing news! That means I can just get my wife to scan the birth certificates! This makes a lot of things so much easier!
Yup. Don't sent originals. They changed that a while back since NVC kept losing original documentation. Anything sent should be photocopies of originals/certified copies. If the document is a translation, include photocopies of the originals as well.
Other easy ways to provide evidence of bona fide marriage:
- Add her to your life insurance
- Add her as a beneficiary to your savings plan / 401K / retirement plan / investment accounts
- Add her as an authorized user to a credit card
- Add her as a beneficiary to your checking account
Most of these methods only require her name, date of birth, address, and/or other methods of contact (e.g., email, phone number) and will not require any other identification.
Hope that helps!

Hi,
my sponsor is self employed. This means she has a business licence as sole trader and reports her taxes yearly under the correct sections of the tax return.
As there are no W2 forms for self-employed, are there other documents required as proof of income in exchange to W2?
Thanks.
You should also include their tax transcripts or their tax return and relevant 1099s.
In addition, for self-employed sponsors, per the NVC website (expand the section "Obtain Financial Evidence"):
QuoteFor those who are self-employed, obtain a photocopy of one of the following:
- Your business license.
- A signed letter on business letterhead that was written within in the last three months.
- A contract between you as an independent contractor and a company.
If you are submitting your documents this month, please join the May scan date for mail processing thread so we can track each others' progress.

We are waiting for our checklist case to be complete by NVC, our checklists requested was received and scanned on the 1st of May,2017 by the NVC. They requested from my wife to make a correction from the affidavit of support about the size of the house and then send it to me for the interview. She is preparing to send it to me now, I just want to know if she can add any additional documents to what she will be sending to me, although we used co-sponsor in our filing process. Did I need to let her send me W2 and letter from her work to me also? And the co-sponsor too. We are just trying to prepare ahead for the interview because we really don't want further delay again. We just need guidelines from the members for the documents we should get to the embassy for the interview.
If you had originally sent 2015 tax information for your joint sponsor and they now have 2016 tax transcripts/W2s available, then I would definitely suggest have them send it to you prior to your interview just in case since there is a small chance they will ask for it (depending on your embassy - I couldn't tell where you will be interviewing since you didn't have a timeline).
If your wife has additional information, it doesn't hurt to have a photocopy of it at the interview as well. As someone mentioned earlier, if your joint sponsor has sufficient income, then this is less significant but there is always the chance that NVC will ask for it. Not having it should not delay your case as long as your joint sponsor's income satisfies the requirements.
Also, make sure you accurately reflect the household income on the I-864 form(s). If this is wrong, then it may delay your case. Make sure it has an ink signature, whether original or photocopied.
Lastly, I noticed that you have a scan date in May. Please join our May can date - mail processing thread so that we can track each others' progress.

Don't forget to include photocopies of the original marriage certificate or any other documentation that was translated. For all translations, photocopies of the original and the translated document should be included.
as for the letter detailing out your relationship, it should be titled "evolution of relationship." You can find a few decent samples on google.
Also, it may help to include financial ties such as adding each other as an authorized credit card user or as a beneficiary to savings plans, investment accounts, life insurance, etc. these things can be established despite residing apart and would also support a bona fire marriage.

hey all,
I have just completed DS 260 (could have done so a week ago already, but I was waiting for my parents-in-law to move so I could put the new address as the one where they should send my green card) and as many of us, I had previously looked up the ds260 sample and filled it out for myself to save some time. I had looked up ALL of my previous employers/ supervisor's names, addresses of the companies etc and the same for my higher education institutions.... I submitted the form already and then realized that I did not fill in any of such information, yet the IV application was complete!
I am hoping this is not some kind of a glitch (I did do a search of VJ already and it seems like it may be that it isn't required because of the country I am from?) Please tell me if you or your spouse did or did not have to submit that info??? I am a bit concernedThe DS 260 Sample has details on the page showing who would have to fill it out. I believe for women from certain countries, some of the historical stuff to be filled out doesn't show.
As long as you filled out the pages that did display for you, you're fine

Not yet! Our priority date is Nov 7, so hoping to hear something in May... Would anyone here know how long it takes for them to send the file to the NVC and to receive a case number at the NVC etc? Basically; how long is the next step going to take? :-) Good luck everyone!!!
approval date +7days = USCIS mails your document to NVC
within 7 days = NVC receives the file
+ another 3-4 days = NVC assigns a Case/IIN #
For more details on timelines and steps, you can reference the NVC process link in my signature below.
If anyone has a scan date for their NVC documents dated in May and submitted their NVC packet via post, please join the May forums

I guess I can put what I have made so far? I doubt we will be back in the US before November, and I never have the luck of getting a job in just one month. So I will just tally up what I have made so far.
Are we sure this is ok, though? I am so worried of getting it sent back because I will be unemployed by the time the I-864 is submitted.
- #1. It is anticipated income, not what the sponsor paid in taxes last year. The I-864 in Part 6, line 5, asks the sponsor to indicate his or her “current individual annual income.” This phrase is key and every word is significant. “Current” means what he or she anticipates earning this calendar year. That may be easy to calculate in December, but more difficult early in the year. So be prepared to ask your client for proof of what he or she is currently earning and likely to have earned by the end of the year. “Individual” means only report what the sponsor himself or herself is planning to earn, not what the sponsor and his/her spouse are earning jointly. “Annual” means what the sponsor is likely to earn this year. This figure, supplemented with any additional household members’ income on Part 6, line 10, will determine if the sponsor’s income is sufficient for his or her household size. If the anticipated income is more than they paid taxes on last year, then include proof to support your estimate, such as pay stubs and a letter from their employer. Finally, “income” includes both taxable and nontaxable income, including certain federal or state benefits. For example, include social security retirement or disability, as well as unemployment or workers compensation. But do not include Supplemental Security Income (SSI) for the aged, blind, or disabled, and do not include Temporary Assistance for Needy Children (TANF). In addition, do not include interest income.
In other words, if you stop working, your expected current annual income is what you have made thus far and not $0 (unless you have no reported income for which you will be filing taxes for next year).
if you're using a joint sponsor's income to meet the requirements, whether or not you are employed is irrelevant for the purpose of the I-864 as long as the income satisfies the financial requirements. NVC is mainly concerned with whether the intending immigrant will be a public charge.
As for whether or not it gets sent back...just make sure you include the correct forms and accurate information , especially when it comes to household counts, and that any income numbers match tax transcripts/returns. There's always a risk NVC loses paperwork or sends a false checklist so just be well prepared and keep your fingers crossed.
Good luck!

If i went a organization for one day and they just told me wat i needed to gather for them to complete the i130. But never went back and i assembled the complete package myself i shouldnt have to list them under preparer correct if all i got was info right?
No, you don't list them. Preparer information is for the legal representative who is filing on your behalf . If you hired a lawyer, paralegal, or other document preparer to fill out this form for you, that person must fill out this section and sign. Otherwise, N/A.

Greetings everyone,
I have searched for answers here, but it seems no one has had the same experience as me, or at least hasn't written about it yet.
On May 17th, I will be leaving my job to return to my husband's country, and I will stay there until he has his visa in hand. This is going to be for no less than 6 months.
The question #2 on part 6 of the I-864 says, "My current individual annual income is:". I have absolutely no idea what to put. My income is actually going to stop, so should I just put an estimate of what I have made so far this year?
Thanks for the help. I truly appreciate this website and all the contributors.
Try the following:
If your month-to-date income + your expected income for the year don't exceed the poverty lines, you will need to have a joint sponsor unless you have assets to cover the gaps.

@MD11PILOT We're both filing with the London embassy so hopefully we'll get approved around the same time. Heard it's relatively easy-going for the London consulate.
