So we sent our paperwork for removal of conditions mid January and we still haven't received any notification that they got our paperwork. They cashed our check but we don't have anything showing that we sent the papers in.
So what now? If it expires how can she work? She's trying to get paid interships while in grad school that are very important to a future career and this could really be an issue. Any tips?
Thanks!

You were all set at the end of October. What happened?
New job, baby planning, house planning, holidays - LIFE!
Thanks everyone for the responses.

So my wife's GC expires 2.15 and we have forgotten to do the removal of conditions. With the Govt shutdown, does anyone know what can happen here? We got into holiday mode and just completely missed this. Are there any extra special steps we should do?
Thanks!

I was just checking, didn't want to send the check if it wasn't required. It's just 600 dollars, not a big deal.

So my wife and I did the K-1, AOS, Green Card w/ Conditions, and now we're at the removal of conditions stage. I went online and there was a 595 fee (not including biometrics)..... Wasn't this stage free? Did the fees recently change or did I just not have it right the first time?
Thanks for the help.

I don't know. It is always a hard copy...you can try calling USCIS to ask if they can send a copy of it or advice you what to do. Do you still remember the case number of your application?
Thanks.
What I did is go to the USCIS website with my case numbers and I was able to get all the history on my account even though the process had finished. I used that as backup, we'll see if it's enough. I tried called USCIS but that was a wasted 45 minutes fiddling with the phone robot lol

Residency can start when your spouse was issued the EAD I believe...
You can use the EAD card or green card to show as person being a resident in California.
The approval of the application might also be used...this is the form I-797 of the AOS or EAD (not the I-797c which is receipt notice).
If I don't have a copy of the I-797, is there any way to get the copy elsewhere?

So in order to show residency in the State of California for tuition purposes at SDSU, I'm having to appeal their rejection. They say she's not because her green card was issued in Feb of this year and I say she is because she case to live here for not-school and her visa doesn't prevent her from forming a home here (actually a requirement for her to get a green card in the first place).
... So the question is... What document can I show that shows the acceptance of the AOS i-485? I can't remember what documents were given to us....is there any way to retrieve these documents from the government if we don't have a copy of them? (we did save them but we put them so safely away we can't remember where they are lol)

GREEN CARD ACCEPTED!!!
San Diego, CA (downtown)
AOS from K-1
Went to the interview with my wife and it was great. The place was easy to find and the interview started right on time. The person was super friendly.
We were sworn in and both asked for ID. Our IDs had matching names and addresses.
They asked me (petitioner) questions.
- Name, Address, Where do you work, What do you do, what's wife's birthday
They asked her (beneficiary) questions.
- Name, parents names, place of birth, occupation, moving history, current job and past jobs, how many times she visited the US, how long were visits. They asked her about groups she was in and made sure she never lobbied to government. Then they asked her all the NO questions to make sure she wasn't a terrorist and such.
Then they asked about our story, we have her a rundown of how we met, where, decision points on getting married, she looked at all of our 50 pics, she asked us about plans for the future and personal goals. She chose 5 pictures and then told us we were approved.Super easy!

Congrats. Did your status change to Case ready to be scheduled for interview before you receive the notice?
Yes, on Oct 5th it said "Case ready to be scheduled".... Today 01/19/2017 it says "Interview is scheduled".

We received the interview date in the mail!!!!!!!
Feb 15th

There's nothing going to happen to your greencard or petition because Trump won presidency. He is against illegal undocumented immigrants, not legal immigrant who are doing it the right way!
He is anti gay and his VP just verified he's anti gay. If the federal government stops recognizing gay marriage as actual marriages then one has no legal way to apply for immigration things conditional of federal recognition.

AOS from K-1 can take 8-10 months.
Yes, you're right. I was being too hopeful.
So another question is - Say the rules change while we're in the middle of the process. Do we immediately get rejected?
-
My wife and I are an LGBT couple in the middle of AOS from a K-1. After the election results we're really quite scared.
My AOS says online " Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" as of Oct 5th. We already got an AP and Employment Authorization Card.
How long does an AOS from K-1 take to be scheduled? We're in California and didn't have an RFE. Is there any place I can call to get status on that Interview date?
It seems unlikely that Trump will be able to change rules fast enough to prevent her from getting the Conditional Green Card. However the condition of the GC will be our marriage. What happens if our marriage is no longer recognized? Is there another avenue for her to stay/work/immigrate here without leaving the country? She's currently in Grad school and leaving isn't an option.
I would appreciate your thoughts.

I was the first person to post on this thread. Didn't receive and email but with a manual check the USCIS website approved my AED and AP.
AED now says "New Card is Being Produced"
AP now says "Case was Approved"
Received Employment Authorization Card in mail. Valid for one year.
At the bottom it says it's valid as Advanced Parole as well. Yay.

Also, on Oct 5th the website started showing my AOS as "Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview"

Good luck everyone! I'm "really" hoping to join in on the Sep filers... just waiting on the certified copy of the marriage certificate to be ready. They said it's probably at least another 2 weeks.
What!?!! in LA?
I'm in San Diego and I was able to go to the office of Vital Records 2 days after my marriage to pay for a certified copy. 15/each and got myself 2.
-
So I sent our K-1 AOS Last Friday but no acknowledgement yet. Since we're so late I thought I'd start on the September rather than comparing myself with all those Aug filers who are a month ahead of me.
-
People around here get AP for "honeymoon"-type or travel fill in the blank country trips a lot. I'm a part of the AOS 2016 march filers and a whole lot of them applied for AP and got them granted as they still wait for a green card, can't think of a single one who filed because of an emergency
That's reassuring lol. Thanks!
