Same with us. Spouse had his appointment at the post office mid-November and the passport tracking website says the application was received 11/19 and is in process - no updates since then. We’re in Maryland. The check was cashed back in November.

An update: Spouse called 2 days ago and here’s what he was told by the phone rep:

My application is being processed by the Western Passport Office, which was closed most of the week of Christmas for COVID cleaning - apparently they were only open one day that week. All offices were also closed for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, plus New Years Day, and they closed at 2:00pm on New Years Eve. So with all of that, they're a week to a week and a half behind, meaning my "4-6 weeks" processing is actually more like "5-7.5 weeks".

Of course, today he got an email saying his application was approved and that he should receive his passport around 1/10. Hang in there everyone!

I applied for passport at USPS on 11/19 and showed up on the web tracker on 11/24. I paid for expedited service and still haven’t received my passport (6 weeks of processing today). I am showing “in process.” I tried calling the customer service number but am told “in process.” Anybody else in a similar situation ?

I believe processing center is “Western” in AZ as I live in Cali

  3. All done! Spouse had his oath ceremony on Wednesday the 28th. It was delayed about an hour because the Secretary of Labor ended up attending and giving a speech. I waited out front of the building the whole time and was a one-person cheering section as the new citizens started coming out waving their little flags. So proud and happy for all of the new citizens and their families. It was a much-needed moment of joy and relief in these times to see everyone celebrating outside.

We did end up going to an early voting center later that day. Spouse, with naturalization certificate in hand, was able to register and vote that day. In all, it took about 20 minutes from start to finish. Again, we are in Maryland, so please check with your local voting centers to see what the situation is.

I am so thankful to everyone on VisaJourney for your kindness, empathy and openness throughout this process. It is not an easy journey. And just as I thought I might be done with VJ, I realize I’ll be hopping over to the passport application posts. I wish you all the best in your journey!

Please do not quote me on this, but I think if you take a proof of citizenship with you and your ID (with your current address) on the day of election, they would register/allow you to vote! I think but I am not sure.  I think the idea of registering you in advance is that so you don't have to prove you are a citizen everytime. You may want to check this information first before taking it. You could let us know if it worked!

Hi thanks! In my state (MD) you can indeed register to vote in person during early voting and on election day, with proper identification. We plan to visit the polls during early voting. Always good to check with your local board of elections as it varies so much!

    I AM DONE!!!

My interview was this morning at 7:45.  VERY quick (less than 10 minutes for the n400 part).  Then told they do same day oaths because of covid so we (it was a 751/400 combo) would need to go sit in the lobby, and that it would take “about 30 minutes”.  So, 3 hours later the supervisor finally came down, and just did a group oath with the 6 or 7 of us who were waiting.

    Congratulations!!!!!

When Apple had her interview, I don't think they asked to see any documents. They just verified info on the application and went through the the questions from part 12 of the application (Communist, Nazi, terrorism, drugs, etc.) Then they asked the Civics questions.

She took originals of everything we submitted with the N400, including my passport and birth certificate.

The last line of the "You Must Bring" section of the appointment letter says: "If copies of a document were submitted as evidence with your N-400 application, the originals of those documents should be brought to the interview."

Thanks for sharing this! I'll send my husband with both documents.

The following is from the check-off list of documents necessary as proof of spousal citizenship.

If you are applying for naturalization on the basis of marriage to a U.S. citizen, send the following 4 items: 1. □ Evidence that your spouse has been a U.S. citizen for the last 3 years:

    a. Birth certificate (if your spouse never lost citizenship since birth); or
    b. Certificate of Naturalization; or
    c. Certificate of Citizenship; or
    d. The inside of the front cover and signature page of your spouse’s current U.S. passport.

The full list of documents required when applying using the N-400 form can be found at:

    https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/guides/M-477.pdf

Thanks for your reply. The M-477 document is what raised my question in the first place because on the appointment letter it mentions a, b, and c but not d. I will send my spouse with both documents!

  8. An update to my last post: interview is scheduled for October 8 - exactly one month’s time! Wasn’t expecting that at all.

One q: in the letter it has a list of documents it says to bring to the interview -  it includes proof of spouse’s (my) citizenship. In that list of acceptable documents it does not include the photo/info page of a US passport. This is the evidence of citizenship I’ve used throughout our immigration journey. Can anyone chime in if they’ve used their US passport as proof of citizenship at the interview? It just seems funny that it’s been acceptable this entire time but not at the final stage. I also wonder if they’ll actually look at it given that they already have many, many copies of it already.

    Cheers all!

Hello friends! Spouse filed N-400 online today. I think Baltimore is our closest field office; it might be DC. Either way, I'm hoping for a smooth and swift process.

Happy new year and best wishes to all on this journey!

Checked USCIS today and saw the receipt notice had been generated. Estimating case completion time of December 2020 - 11 months. Hoping it decreases as we go along.

    Happy Friday all!
