This whole situation makes me sick, I just want to puke. I'm so sorry, Amja and everyone else. I could not even imagine things could get this bad. Even though it didn't affect me personally (at least not yet...) I cried like 10 times today, this is so hearthbreaking. Let's hope the world has not lost it's mind yet and remembers lessons from the past, and everything will get resolved and be alright... ACLU won at least one battle, that's a good start, it gives hope.

this whole thing today seems INSANE....I feel like I'm living on another planet right now just trying to comprehend how this country's government is letting this happen.  The next couple of days will be very interesting to see if he backslides on any of his bans, especially current LPRs.

This is terrible for all LPRs. What if an emergency happens in their home country before they can get citizenship? They will have to skip their loved ones funeral or risk being unable to return? What about those whose home countries don't allow dual citizenship and  are long-term permanent residents?

l think everyone on here has reason to worry!

Even if it's only ever limited to these 7 countries, these are people who LIVE HERE! Imagine one day you come home and some government agent is outside and won't let you in. He won't let you go to work either. You have to leave. Just because. Now where do you go? You probably tied up loose ends back home. Maybe if your parents are alive they'll take you in?

I don't ever expect the UK will get the brunt of this but I still feel absolutely enraged for our Middle Eastern friends who are caught up in this absolute BS.

This is sad and pathetic. And you know what? He'll get away with it because most Americans do not care about the status of LPRs. He's only targetting the "bad ones" right? Ugh..

Best wishes for your friends, OP. This is awful.

Ironically, his wife was an LPR at some point. Doubt he recognizes that, as he paid lawyers to do the paperwork and her H-1B earlier on. More worrying is the fact that people on his staff are also absolutely clueless (fact that he is shouldn't be surprise to anybody). And we handed this man codes to ICBMs.... I hope there's at least one person in his vicinity that recognizes what pushing those button does...

I'm hoping all the people on here insisting we had nothing to worry about since Trump was only going to go after "illegals" are finally starting to see the truth.
    This is scary.
This is not what America is about.

You know what's the worst thing? The fear.
You read that the ban only affects Muslim countries. But... how can we even be sure? I'm a green card holder, I was planning to go to Poland in about a month (first trip in almost 3 years) but now I'm scared.

Upon speaking to a Trump-supporting relative just now, the GC holders finding themselves barred from their own homes will be fine because "bad things happened to me in my life too and everything worked out".

I don't know that she's ever had the government suddenly make her homeless, but ok.

It does unfortunately apply to green card holders. It's for all aliens, and LPR's are considered aliens as well. It's ridiculous, considering these people live here. Work, family, home... I don't know how they're expected to support themselves when they're stuck abroad... Not every LPR has somewhere to go to...

Man, I've been in the US since 2011. Today marks the 2000th day of me living in the US. I'm not an LPR yet and even I feel like my entire life is in the US. I can't imagine what I would do if one day I couldn't come back home. LPR's should be given the right to enter just like USC's. If your whole life is here, what the heck are you supposed to do when they deny you? You might not even have anywhere to go!

It's horrible. How will they (or anyone who's barred from the US) support themselves...The U.S is their home and they have every right to come back. This is disgusting.

Free tacos from trump tower grill.... because, y'know, they are the best. Better than tacos in Mexico in fact. They make such great tacos in the trump tower grill, and they are soon going to be at least 20% cheaper than those ones coming from Mexico.
    At least 20%. Minimum.
We are gonna have so many great tacos you are gonna be sick of tacos.

OP, your "friend" is being dishonest or is trolling you.

USCIS never has illegal aliens "check in" every 5/6 months with government issued work permits for which they are ineligible. USCIS also never waits for illegal aliens to "get their travel documents straight" before deportation.

This story has ZERO/NONE/ZILCH ring of truth to it.

    Umm... is this story real?
Immigration gave him a work permit and let them work legally after they issued deportation order? Because of no paperwok?

I tell everything i can think of i promise : ) there is no point to start a topic, ask for opinions and hide something at the same time. Unless there is something i can't even imagine is related... like the fact that my husband doesn't eat onions Lol. Also, i just though of it - he already petitioned once and it was approved. Is it a positive sign? I mean, unless something horrible happened after this (which i believe we would have known) it means he can petition and can be approved.
    Exactly

Thank you : ) even though it's driving me nuts that they would think that about us, i hope that's what's going on in fact, and when we send them all the affidavits, social media pages, text messages, and if they come to our apartment they will have no doubts left (the lawyer said they may come). Also hope nothing like this will happen when they get to i-485!
Im going crazy most likely because, like i mentioned here before, i know other people from my country who went thru the same process, same situation as ours, one spouse overstayed the same visa and another spouse is a usc, and no one had any problems! So i keep asking - why us then... i know every case is different but not that different really, everything that matters to uscis is pretty much the same in all these cases. Yes my husband was married before, but some of those people had a lot less financial proof than we do for example (i asked), others had a big age difference, and uscis didn't give a hard time to any of them.

Our K1 visa journey without AOS, just from filing to POE took about 5 years.

We are also waiting for hubby to go to school, to travel and see his parents he has not seen in 8 years.

There is so much to be grateful for.....we are finally together under one roof enjoying our lives.

If they do show up, open the door, and just be nice and tell them I'm going to make some coffee and watch the news. Be polite, ask if they want any coffee/water/whatever and they will of course refuse, but niceness and a good attitude always make things better. Then take a seat on the sofa and have coffee and chill. And ask for their card before they leave. They are trained to press you mentally, that's sort of a given. The less you act like it bothers you the better

Odds are you won't even get a visit anyway. We only got one because he was put into removal.
