The embassy does hundreds of visas a day, so imagine being the guy at 2GO answering the phone each day... "is my visa there yet?" ... and if it isn't the person keeps calling back, over and over. Yikes!

Maybe he was thinking July 2017 - now that's a possibility for a spousal visa if they're getting married in June 2016.

There is zero options for her to come back with you in July.
Since you have not met, you can not file for a K-1 fiancée visa. You can only file after meeting. You would also be require to marry in the US. The entire process takes about a year.
Once married, you can file for a spousal visa. That will take about a year.
The immigration game takes time. There is no such thing as meeting for the first time, marry, and shortly immigrate to the US. It doesn't happen this way.

Not a chance she would have a visa by July.
You cannot get a fiancee visa without meeting face to face before sending in the K1 petition. You cannot send the CR1 spouse petition until after you are married.
Once you send in the petition, it will likely be a year or so until she would get her visa to enter the US

If you can, try and get a cell phone even if its a prepay. Make sure you have ample time loaded and try and call yourself, just as the previous posts say, keep hitting redial until you get through. Best wishes!

You're right. Point taken. The impression I got is a lot of k1 visa applicants meet on the internet and have one or two obligatory visits before applying for this visa then voila 6 months later in the US getting married - which to me screams marriage fraud. Whereas if you've met someone in person, lived with them, got to know them, married etc it kinda says genuine relationship. I think in the immigration process there is very little distinction being made and the people who met yesterday at being given the same rights those with established relationships. We are being treated like criminals for falling in love.
    Sorry for the bitterness.

The idea of premium processing has been bandied about before. I personally am against it as it seems like catering to the rich

Not sure why everyone's arguing about which process is worse. They're both terrible for all involved.
I don't understand the justification for needing to take so long - our visa fees are supposed to cover the costs. So why do have to pay so much and still wait so long? Shouldn't they hire more people to go quicker? Why is the system not more computerized?
None of our families, friends, or colleagues understand why it should take so long. Probably because most people who go through this process go through it only once, so there's really no large constituency to push for reforms.
Oh well. Nothing we can do about it other than to wait and keep our hopes up that everything will go quickly.

Bones...it will be worth the agonizing wait. In the meantime, get your place cleaned up, and go get a 25-pound sack of Jasmine rice.
