Hi everyone! Just wondering if anyone has experienced seeing only the message "There is no status update available for the passport number submitted" on US Travel Docs?

Just a quick timeline/background:

March 5th: My interview date for my K1. The CO said, "Everything looks good but I'm just waiting for a security clearance to come through." I was issued a 221(g) but it only said "For review". No additional documents were required.

March 6th-19th:

CEAC Status: Administrative Processing (since March 5th, no update on the date)

US Travel Docs Status: "The passport is still with the embassy/consulate"

March 20th: I checked US Travel Docs & it said "There is no status update available for the passport number submitted"

I called the embassy then because I was confused & wanted to know if my passport was still there. The lady said my file was still under review (no other info given). After 15 minutes, I checked CEAC & the updated date changed to "March 20" (which I thought was a good thing, but maybe it was only because I had talked to someone on the phone).

I still kept getting the same US Travel Docs status of "no status update available".

No updates on both sites since then. It's been three weeks since my interview & I know I shouldn't worry, but I haven't heard from the embassy and we haven't had any significant status updates so it's starting to bother me a little bit.

Has anyone experienced this? Any insight will be much appreciated. Thank you!

Yes, lots of people have experienced what you are experiencing. The last date changed, because the person on the phone with you at USEM "touched" your file albeit through the use of her computer. She saw that everything was still there and awaiting your additional paperwork i.e. "security clearance". Maybe you could tell us a little more about the security clearance as I venture to say that is what is holding up your visa approval. Keep in mind, if they keep your passport that means you are still being processed and does not mean "NO".

Some visa applications require further administrative processing, which takes additional time after the visa applicant’s interview by a consular officer. Applicants are advised of this requirement when they apply. Most administrative processing is resolved within 60 days of the visa interview. When administrative processing is required, the timing will vary based on individual circumstances of each case. Your mileage may vary.

You just need a little more patience. Just this past week I can remember three other couples "fretting" about their cases and we all advised, more patience. Guess what, shortly thereafter there visa was issued. Your worrying too much.

Thanks a lot for the replies, guys! Yes, they did keep my passport so I know that's a good sign at least.

As for the security clearance thing, the weird thing was when I went through the document pre-screening, the officer who got my documents commented that my NBI clearance wasn't printed so clearly. I offered her my personal copy of that NBI clearance & she kept that instead of the official one. It was weird, but I'm pretty sure that's it. I've never had any derogatory record whatsoever.

I think I am worrying too much. But thanks for understanding! Every day I spend away from my fiance feels like an eternity, and this wait makes it feel longer. It's reassuring to know my situation isn't so unique. Will try to keep my patience! :)

fwiw -

ustraveldocs won't have status about the passport movement

unless and until

CEAC status flips to 'issued'.

ustraveldocs can't move the passport unless and until the visa is actually issued, and a visa packet bundled up in the mail room at Manila IV.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
