Bring your spouse to interview and any additional evidence since you submitted I-751. For me they didn’t know I has I-751 pending until I told them. They made combo interview but they didn’t have my i751 case handy. I gave the officer tax returns and pictures of us. We asked how we met and questions about the pictures. Very straigforward. Then he said he will recommend approval of I-751 but he didn’t know where the case was. Regardless it got approved the next day.

after short i751 interview he asked my spouse to leave the room and then proceeded to N400 interview. Super easy if you memorize the 100 questions. The enlighs part was also super easy just read a sentence and write a word or two. Then he said he recommends approval but he needs to find my I-751 case first. I got scheduled on oath ceremony after a few weeks.

    Best of luck!

edit: if you traveled after N400 application bring a document that says the dates and length of travel and the country you went. My officer appreciates all of that was organized since he needs to update any international travel

My journey is over. Today it was my oath ceremony and i got my passport the same day since I have international travel the same day as oath. My only advice to everyone: apply for N-400 as soon as you’re elegible to apply. Thanks everyone and good luck!

    Timeline:
    July 29, 2017 Filed I-751 (CSC)
After that I never got biometrics letter and only one notification of your file has been transferred some time February 2018
Then I received letter of biometrics are not needed sometime in February 2018
    July 21, 2018 applied for N-400
My N400 estimated time said several months (>12) but then:
My n400 interview was scheduled (estimated time changed to 4 months after status change) sometime in December but it got de-scheduled because they closed all government offices that day. Then it got re-scheduled
January 22, 2019 passed N-400 and I-751 joint interview. Although they didn’t have my I-751 file they did both interviews at the same time (they said I-751 file may be in the same local office but who knows)
January 23, 2019 my I-751 god updated that is was transferred to Lee office and also updated the same day that it was approved. N-400 got also approved (recommended for naturalization ceremony)
February 19, 2019 my oath ceremony letter arrived. Case online was updated like 3-4 business days ago and online letter appeared 2 business days ago
March 20, 2019 oath ceremony. I have international travel the same day at night. I made an appointment ahead of time at passport agency. They give me passport in 2 hours. It was amazing

Best of luck in your inquiry! I’m sure changes will come soon.
my office is San Diego, CA

In my case N-400 processing times were way shorter than the USCIS estimates for my office and what the online estimate said in my account

I agree everything is madness with USCIS.

I had my N-400 interview and they didn’t have my I-751 file ready but they did both interviews anyways. USCIS officer told me he will look for my file in the office (records said it was there). One week later I got the transfer notice that it was moved to Lee office and I also got the I-751 approval letter at the same time. That was so weird but I’m glad it got approved.

Now I’m waiting for oath ceremony to be scheduled. I don’t think they will send me the 10 year green card.

    Hi,

My oath ceremony has been scheduled in a few weeks a Wednesday at  8 am. The same day of my oath ceremony I have an international travel at night (8 pm) (not possible to move or cancel, I have to go).

There is a passport agency in my the city of my oath ceremony (San Diego, CA). Can I get a U.S. passport in a few hours? How long does oath ceremony takes? I can schedule appointment with passport agency (10-11am?), fill the forms at home, bring pictures and after my oath ceremony go and request same day passport. I got the info from here: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/apply-renew-passport/hurry.html

Is this possible? Has anyone done this before? Or should I try to get oath ceremony re-scheduled?

    Thanks!

Update: I passed the citizenship exam and all the questions on 1/22/19. However, when I arrived they did not know I had I-751 pending. So they didn't have my I-751 file available, although it was supposedly in the same office. I did bring my wife so he kind of did a quick I-751 interview. When I left he said he will look for my I-751 case and review it. Then he will approve I-751 or request evidence and subsequently approve N-400.

Today 1/23/19 the following updates appeared in the N-400 and I-751.

As a background I'm CSC for I-751 pending (applied July 2017) then I applied as soon as possible for N-400 online on July 2018

For those with I-751 pending that haven't applied for N-400. I highly recommend applying for N-400 ASAP. In my case it seems that N-400 pushed my I-751 case. Even though my I-751 is still not officially approved (I hope the status changes tomorrow), my N-400 was approved within 6 months.

    Hi,

I have been scheduled for N-400 interview with I-751 pending, my case is based on marriage to U.S. citizen. I'm assuming I will get a combo interview for both cases. Does anyone have any experience in San Diego, CA office? Any other tips for combo interviews are also appreciated.

I plan to bring my wife (US citizen) and of course I'm also studying the civic questions for N-400.
    Thanks!

Not accurate at all. My USCIS account  says 10 months. The USCIS estimate of my local office (not from my account) says 12-24 months.

Not me I applied for N400 in July 2018 with pending I-751 (July 2017) and I just got scheduled for N400 interview (December 2018). I assume they will do joint I-751/N400 interview.

Today I saw that my status change to interview scheduled. I still have I-751 pending (applied July 2017) Is this even possible? I’m located in California and I applied online. The funny thing is that in my account no changes appear but in the app to track cases it just changed today.

In how long should I expect interview? I need to start studying ASAP

    Hi,

I will be filing N-400 in mid-July using the 3 year rule of being married to U.S. citizen while being a permanent resident. I still have pending the removal of conditions (I-751) but since it may take a while I will go ahead to start gathering documents and apply.

Please feel free to start the discussion of what documents to gather, tips, etc.

    Thanks!
