No one in their clear mind would have the same situation as you have. No one will go die on the street just because they love someone. Read above, as seems that you don't understand what love is. First of all, it's about taking care of your relationship and trying not to die on the streets. Otherwise you sound like a 15 year old kids from that Disney movie.

I understand that you might consider any advice that you don't like as "being rude", but it's not how it works.

Yes, my husband would do everything and risk everything for me. But he wouldn't be stupid and just give up and let us die on the street.
    It's not being rude.

You have to either 1. Find jobs where you are. 2. Go back to the States and fix your life and find a job. 3. There is no other option, so not sure what you expected?

Not sure what kind of answer you are expecting. Immigration wise, if you don't meet the financial requirements and can't find a co sponsor- your husband won't get a visa.

Life is harsh. Thousands of couples are separated by the immigration process and it's fine. If you guys want to survive and figure this out, you have to probably go back to the States and figure out your life situation. If you say that you'd rather die on the street then be apart.. We'll I'm going to be harsh. This is not a Disney movie. You either get a grip on your life or you should find some mental health help.

Go back to the States. Take your US citizen cats (sorry, that crack me up). Find a job. Sponsor your husband.

You can find couples that are separated for years and the world doesn't fall apart.

If you two rather live abroad then..  dunno. Youre both adults. Find jobs. Don't know how social help work on that country.

    OP,

Given his history, why do you choose to be involved with him? One "mistake" might be forgivable , but two .....?  You need to go to counseling before continuing the idea of sponsoring to understand your motivations and your risks emotionally and physically. I am concerned that you are not thinking clearly about what you are proposing.

You also need to consult an immigration attorney experienced in family (not employment) law. The forum is not likely to have experience in the legal issues involved.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Wonder how long overstays were/are and what will say on his police certificate from Switzerland?

It shows he has a disregard for the law (given the second overstay attempt) so I'm curious to see what the knowledgeable VJers say about this

Pictures, conversations and rings never "prove" a genuine relationship.

Rings prove you went to a jewelry store. Conversations prove you have a phone or internet connection that works. Pictures prove you have a working camera and that you were in the same place at the same time.

Time spent together is evidence of a genuine relationship. 1 week together and a 20-year age gap is not looking good. When is she next going to see you? You haven't seen her in 7 months.

Ah, ditto. (I can't remember all the questions, but it was just six out of the possible 100. Nothing tricky) My interviewer was very pleasant, but business like and ran through my application at a break-neck speed. I just had to confirm all basic personal info, and the NO questions, and I think all of the YES questions too. Also, as I had mentioned in an earlier post, she asked me for passport photos, and had me sign them on the FRONT. (weird). My wife was being interviewed at the exact same time in another room but her interviewer never asked for photos. I'm not sure what would have happened if I didn't have the photos with me. Maybe place my application on hold? Good thing I had them! (So I would recommend popping into CVS or Walgreens and getting your photos done.)
Overall, the interview seems to be the easiest part of the whole process. I too was quite nervous, but I don't know why. In just 15 minutes it was all over, and my interviewer gave me a form that showed I was "recommended for Approval".

Yesterday I took my Oath of Allegiance- it was very emotional and unforgetable day, but I am done with the proces and my immigration journey is finally over.
Thank you Amazing People on this forum for the great help and encouragement. Thanks to you, this long and difficult proces was made so much easier.
Special  thanks to cocann for his extraordinary job and selfless dedication .
Good luck to everyone else from January who is still waiting for interview or oath to be scheduled.
I wish you to get good news soon!

It looks like Tampa is speeding up its Interview -> Oath times. Both my wife and I were "recommended for approval" at our interview on 8/29, and then just two days later my wife got the "Oath has been scheduled" emailed to her, and mine came just two days after that. (yesterday). I don't know why the oath notifications were two days apart when our interviews were at the exact same date / time, but I won't complain. Hopefully we should receive our letters next week with the oath date. (Please warm up the red paint and put it on stand-by!)

Look at your card, what is the date after the words that say "Resident Since"

He can't do anything.  Your top priority now is to get yourself out of that situation, there are organizations that can assist you if you need it.

    Congratulations to you too!
It was worth the wait. My ceremony was beautiful and so was yours.
I applied for my passport today. I hated to give the passport office my Certificate of Naturalization.  I also mailed in the Voter Registration Form.
Thank you Cocann for updating the status of me and many others!  Good Luck with your personal journey.

Everybody seemed to arrive by 10 am for the 10:30 ceremony in the Baltimore field office. We were shown to the waiting room.  Then called by row to the ceremony room.  They took our green card and notice form as we entered the ceremony room.  The ceremony started at 11, presided by a USCIS Supervisor (no judge).  There were 65 of us from 57 countries.  We sand the Star Spangled Banner.  All of our countries were called and I stood up for Canada, I was the only one.  We said the Oath.  The showed a short film of other new citizens takinf the oath.  Then a little later we were called to the podium in front of the room by row to pick up our certificate from the USCIS Supervisor. They played a nice version of America The Beautiful and then it was over.  We were given a short time to take pictures before they said another group needed to have their ceremony, presumably at 12 noon.

I wish all of you good luck.  Be patient, your turn will come!

I do want to add my oath was in field office, if yours is in courthouse then security checkup and finding room where oath is can take little time, so add that up to 15 minutes, however at our field office I would say it wasnt even 15 it was like 10 minuets before they started taking us in the building, we were waiting outside,so 15 minutes is more than enough
