  1. Hi Everyone,

My interview is next week and I just have a quick question as I'm reviewing the 100 questions. If a question has multiple answers are we expected to say each of the answers in the booklet. Some are the same answer, but s different wording. ie: Name the US war between the North & the South where the booklet provides: the Civil War, the war between the states. Same type of answer, different wording.

Then, you have a question like What does the Constitution do. Booklet says: Sets up the gvmt, defines the gvmt, protects the basic right of americans. In that instance, do we say all 3 of those answers to that question? Or one will suffice?

Are they expecting answers to be verbatim to what is in the booklet?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

    Thanks!

  2. Hi Everyone,

Its been a while since I posted as I was having log-in issues but I've been following the updates. @Amadia thanks so much for your hard work on the spreadsheet.

Just wanted to give you all a quick update. Chicago filer here (under 3 yrs rule, no pending I-751).  Schedule for interview for April 16 which was then cancelled on April 1 due to Covid. I have yet to be rescheduled. Called USCIS last week and they said Chicago has not rescheduled anything yet....so I am stuck in limbo with many of you.

Just wanted to say hi and hope you are all doing well and hanging in there :)

Sorry about that. typo error. my question was did you recieve any text msg when they scheduled you for interview or an email?

    Fahad,

I'm so sorry!! I just realized I never got back to you about this. My sincere apologies.

I did receive an email that they scheduled the interview, but not a text message.

I also received an email that the interview has been cancelled due to coronavirus. It seems (for me at least) they are updating me well with emails.

Hope that helps and my apologies for taking so long to get back to you,

    Stay healthy!

Hi. Do you think 04/09 n 400 interview is canceled?  I logged into my USCIS account and I did not get any messages. Thanks for helping

    Hi Ka&J,

My n400 interview scheduled for April 16 has been cancelled (Chicago office). I received an email from USCIS on March 18 that they had already cancelled my interview and they will "mail a new interview notice when normal operations resume"

Currently the offices are closed until April 1, however, everything will likely need to be rescheduled even if they open back up as planned (which I doubt).

If you haven't received an email, I would try to call USCIS to see if your interview is still scheduled or cancelled. Perhaps it is an office to office basis.

Good luck everyone and please stay healthy!

  5. Hi December Filers!

Getting ready to complete my online form - I thought I was giving myself a week of prep time b/f I could file, and come on here to find out I could've filed almost 90 days ago! lol. How silly do I feel? Doing my 3 yr via marriage naturalization.

Few questions if anyone knows the answers:

    1. If my and my hubby are on a payment plan with our taxes is that considered overdue?

    2. If I got a speeding ticket years ago prior to immigration would I report that as committed an offense? I've seen differing things on this

    3. Is there a preferred way to label the files I upload?

    4. For bank statements etc. what increments/how many are people typically attaching?

Thanks a million! Now that I feel behind the ball I really want to get this all submitted tomorrow! 😁

  6. I agree, I got my P4 this morning and it's just like a generic guide to the embassy and the process and what to bring.

But the official letter, actually has your case number and personal details and it specifically states you need to bring that to the interview.

I called on Thursday to get my date, just got my letter to confirm said date.

Just got my letter this evening with the date and everything on it! :dancing:

  7. Oh wow, Thats not it, Did you get that from NVC? I click on that link and thats the same website I had to go on to register the interview and for DHL services for the delivery of the passport. Are you using an attorney?

Yes it was from the NVC - although the NVC email it came from was different than the others. It was from CANVCEDP@state.gov

Perhaps different countries have different things and this is the Canadian one? It has EVERYTHING I need to know - including like you said registering for the delivery of the passport - EXCEPT what I would think is the most important thing....my name with the date and time of the interview! lol

No we did not use an attorney....

 Anyhow - I will call NVC when I have time to see if I should be expecting anything else.

    Thanks for your help!

  8. Thanks BeckyMaria and MrsBurgz,

I can't for the life of me figure out how to do a screen shot! lol

the actual email started like this:

    Dear Sir/Madam:

You recently received or will receive your immigrant visa interview appointment and instructions from the National Visa Center. I have attached a copy of Consulate interview packet but wanted to highlight some of the most important items. Please read ALL instructions prior to attending your interview.

If you miss the appointment that has been given to you, please go to https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ca/iv to select a new appointment date. There may be a significant wait before the next available interview, so please attempt to attend the date already assigned to you.

And then the attachment was 6 pages and the title at the top of the page was " Packet 4 - Instruction Materials" and goes over everything from contacting the consulate, the vaccinations required, the address of the consulate, the list of Canadian doctors to schedule the medical with etc.

No where in the body of the email or the letter attached had my name or my date of interview.....that's why I'm thinking there must be something else coming or perhaps in the actual mail to me

  9. The P4 email is your interview letter. Click on the attachment that came with that email.

That email will be the last contact from NVC.

    Thanks Mrs. Burgz.

I have read the complete email and attached P4 attachment. Aside from my case number in the subject line of the email, this is a generic email and attachment for all interviews going through this consulate (K1-IR!-CR1).

I cannot see how they (or the consulate) would not send some type of letter stating the date and time of the interview. That would mean every single person would have to call up NVC for their interview date? And what if an error was made with the person on the phone giving you the interview date and time? Surely there must be a letter coming that confirms the date and time of the interview with my name on it!?!?!?! The P4 does not have anything to the effect. Thanks :)

  10. Sorry what is packet 4?

It's basically all the instructions on how to register your interview with the consulate, courier service to get your passport back after interview, what documents to bring, the list of physicians to contact to set up your medical appointment, the vaccinations needed etc.

Then I believe there will be another letter (? sent by snail mail or email - I'm not too sure) that will actually state the date and time of your interview on it.

  11. Hi there,

I have my interview scheduled for September 12 in Montreal. My passport is valid, however expires August 21, 2017. (just over 1 year).

Canada will process passport renewals up to a year (ie: as of this August 21 I can take it in for renewal).

Is it worth getting a new passport now before my interview so that the CR-1 Visa gets placed in a passport that doesn't expire for another 5 years? What are people's experiences? Or is this just not a big deal and I should renew it in 6 months time?

    Thanks!

  12. I'm so sorry - I work in a hospital in Ontario and we write letters for people ALL the time. The phisician's admin assistant or your dad's social worker should be able to write you a letter in 2 minutes on hospital letterhead and have the physician sign it. I would go back and keep urging them. Unfortunately you may have to threaten them to report this to the newspaper, go to your local MPP for help or even have a lawyer get involved.

There is truly no reason why they should write you a letter and YES as their administration says, they would have to do it for everyone in this situation. As they should. Insurance needs letters all the time from hospitals saying people are in the hospital for such and such etc. I would just go back and don't take no for an answer. Call the MPP if you have to get them involved and if you threaten to go to the newspaper I bet you'll have a letter in your hands quickly. No hospital likes bad publicity

    Good luck!

  13. Hi there,

Unfortunately you have hit a dead end if you do not have TPMS in your car. (I am in the same situation as well). It is a law in the US that all cars have TPMS and they cannot be registered if they don't. Since it is not mandatory in Canada, although most cars have TPMS, some (even newer ones like mine) still don't.

You can "petition" the DOT (Department of Transportation) for them to accept your car, but it would be an extremely lengthy and expensive process. Really not worth it unless you're driving a brand new $100k car.

Sorry...I know not the news you wanted to hear. My husband works in the fright and transport business and we spent months trying to figure out any way to get around this and talking to many higher ups even within the DOT. There is just no way around it. It's infuriating...but oh the things we do for love!

  14. Hi Karoline,

If you're living separately in different countries, there isn't the expectation to have joint leases and financials. I included pictures with descriptions of who was in them, any charges from each of our credit cards showing you charged items in the US or he charged items when he was in Canada. I also included photo-copies of any cards we gave eachother as well as photocopies of cards our family and friends gave us for our wedding. I sent in about 6 random months of my phone bills and highlighted every time I called his number - to demonstrate we are in contact daily. I know you mentioned you drive over the border, but if you DO have any flight itinerary/boarding passes of when you both went away together, I would send those as well. I also sent in photocopies of receipts that I had for a gift I sent to his house for him and sent the receipt for my engagement ring that he paid for...(if it's a fraudulent marriage, people wouldn't be investing so much time and money into these things).

I'm not sure if you've done so already, but as soon as we got married we each added eachother as the beneficiaries to any work or personal pensions and RRSPs. So, I sent in the confirmation emails I had when I changed him to my beneficiary.

Remember once you put your package together to take 2 photocopies of the whole package just in case it gets lost or something goes missing!

    Good luck!
