    Hello everyone,

So I just got married to my husband in Morocco (yay!) and I have a question about moving there for a year.  (I'm back in the U.S. at the moment)  I think that living together for one year is going to demonstrate that we are in a bona fide marriage and want to be together.  Is there some reason I need to be in the US after we have submitted our i130 application, if I am able to work remotely and meet the salary requirement given by the US government?

Hi ! I felt compelled to respond to your post. I also lived in Morocco for about a year. However, I came back to the US not too long after my husband and I married. Back then, in 2015, it was very important to the embassy in Casablanca that you could absolutely prove you had a home in the US. I have a friend who also had moved to Morocco and stayed there through the I-130 process. When it got to the NVC stage, she began her transition to come back to the US. When her husband went for his interview, even though she could financially support him, they were denied due to the fact she had been out of the US so long and had not lived in her home long enough (according to them) There may have been other issues with their visa process that I'm unaware of, but just thought i'd throw that out there. As I said, I came back to start the process and we were apart for the entire thing. Did you say that you will have income the entire time you are in Morocco that you can prove?  Good luck to you and if you need any help or have any questions, I'd be happy to help.

Congratulations! Only one step left, almost there.

And happy to know that the interviews are not disrupted by the Covid spike, was a bit worried that they might cancel the interviews too like they did the oaths. One more month for my interview 🤞

Did the IO give a time frame for the Oath? Since yours is a name change it might take a month or two. I read on another forum that the courts still haven't released the schedule yet. Please do post an update when you know your Oath date & place. If you are under the Northern District, you can check the schedule here (if & when they update it) - http://www.txnd.uscourts.gov/naturalization-ceremony-schedule

My husband had his interview on January 4th. His oath ceremony is February 5th in Irving.

  3. My husband had his interview this morning in Dallas. He said the process went very smoothly. They didn't ask for any additional documents even though we were more than prepared. He was told he should get a letter letting him know when his oath ceremony will be in about 30 days or so.

We are both so overjoyed that this process, this anxiety ridden roller coaster ride is OVER !  Good luck to everyone.

  4. My husband passed his interview this morning. I didn't get to ask him a lot of questions, but he did say that he wasn't asked for any additional evidence. We had prepared a folder with everything they had asked for in the interview letter plus we had also included bank statements, credit card statements, utility bills, etc. from the time he filled in November 2019 to present. It wasn't needed, but you can never be too prepared.

A journey that began in November 2015 ended today. There were plenty of times in the last 5 years that I didn't think it would ever be over. All of the worrying, preparing, praying and anticipation is through. I wish for everyone still waiting that your wait is quick and painless. Thank you to this community -- I've learned countless important aspects of this process and received lots of good information from those who had gone before. If this website hadn't been available, I don't know that we would have been as successful.

Good luck everyone ! I hope you get to experience this feeling soon !

  5. Last minute question for anyone that might have experience with this topic. My husband's interview is on Monday. We both completely forgot about a traffic ticket he got in 2017. It was for crossing a double white line. He took defensive driving and the ticket was dismissed. He did put it on his application, but does he need to take something with him from municipal court saying that it was dismissed? That's the only ticket he's had. If so, then we need to get a copy of it tomorrow.

    TIA

Thank you for sharing your insight and for your offer.   Yes we applied for the k1 visa for personal reasons, and are aware of the possible denial; however, we continue to hope for the best while preparing for the worse.

Congratulations to your husband on becoming a citizen.

    Best,

    Angela

Thank you ! I wish you luck with your case. I’m here if you need anything 😊

how do you check letters online, i am trying to see my interview date ,

    please advice.

If you are still having problems I found this on the USCIS website about making an account at my.uscis.gov. Check # 13 on the list. It tells you how to add a paper application. Apparently from what it says, once you enter the receipt #, etc. you should be able to see the case, associated documents, notices, etc.

They will post the letter usually the next business day. I got interview scheduled status yesterday and today after 9am letter showed up under documents tab. For some filers letter did not show up until few days.

Since you have not filed online, I'm not sure if it will show up online. Anyways you will get it via USPS mail within a week after online status changed to interview scheduled.

If you don't mind me asking, when is your interview ? My husband's is January 4th

i did not file online, i mailed my application .

is it possible to check the interview notice if i mailed the application package.??

i check my  case status via  egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/

just saw the interview scheduled status ...

You should be able to make an account at myuscis.gov. You'll need your receipt number. It will have a tab after you've registered that should show any documents they've mailed to you such as interview letters.

Forgive me for not being not being able to have your response included.  I don’t know how to do it.  It gives me great anxiety to hear this. My fiancé and I have an age gap of 13 years.  I’m the older one. We met towards the end of 2019. Travelled and met three times.  First meeting was 7 days and the last two were closer to 3+weeks each visit. Our travels are well documented.  We provided copies of our boarding passes and copies of our stamped passports. We also have a daughter now who looks just like him. She’s 6 months and we have documented our conversations in skype and WhatsApp since we have not been able to see each other. I am not sure what else we can do to prove the validity of our relationship. It’s a tough journey thus far.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but you are doing the K-1 correct ?  I'm not saying it's going to happen, but be prepared. Pretty much anyone I've known who had an age cap of 10 years or more and did a K1 were denied. Getting married, especially if you have a child and then filing for the CR-1 visa is usually more successful. My husband and I have a 17 year age gap, me being the older one. I was also divorced and had a child from my first marriage. We never applied for a K-1 because I was living in Morocco at the time, so we got married after nearly 2 years of being together. We had no issues. In fact, my husband is about to go to his interview to become a naturalized citizen. Good luck to you and if you need any help or just need to vent, send me a message.

Hello everyone n400 filer here i applied online  on 09/25/2020  no finger print yet . my current time line is january 2022 which is 14 months i can wait that long i dont mind but i have a sister she's turning 21 in september 2020 i was hoping that i can become a citizen before than that so i can apply for my mom and my sister can have residency with her but in this case seems like no help what you all think i might have chances?

Hmmmm....it’s hard to say. My husband filed a year ago this week and hasn’t heard a word since he went for biometrics in December 2019. Maybe with a new administration in the White House things will get better. But as of right now I’d say the estimate may be close. Incidentally, my husbands timeline has shown March 2021 as his completion date since the beginning. It’s never changed. Good luck to you !

  13. I promise I'm not meaning this in a rude way. But I've followed this thread for 10+pages now. I have to ask this ------- are you serious ? I read some of the things you've done and said and expect and my mind is blown. This isn't like inviting someone to come visit you on vacation ----this is PERMANENT IMMIGRATION ! How could you ever expect things to be simple and easy ? Especially now in the middle of a worldwide pandemic and with a President who is absolutely bent on ensuring that immigration is difficult, at best ! As someone many pages ago said, We've all been through this ----when I petitioned for my husband to come on a CR1 from Morocco --our petition was about 8 inches thick ! We made sure every single aspect of our relationship was covered ----and that was even with me living in Morocco for over a year. You're going to have to suck it up, I'm sorry to say. IF this is a legitimate relationship AND you truly want to live together in the US you will have to be willing to make any/all sacrifices to make that happen. You need to be trying every single avenue available to get over this "fear of flying" you have. And relying on the excuse that "unless you have it, you wouldn't understand" isn't going to mean anything to an immigration officer looking at your case. They literally will not care. My advice is to not ask for advice from a group of people who have risked everything, including their health and futures to ensure their spouses were with them and expect some sort of special treatment. None of us got that and neither will you, especially now. You've already dealt your hand, now you're going to have to deal with what you end up with. Good luck !  (And I'm sorry if the issue has been resolved but I just couldn't read another page of comments)
