  1. AKRON, Ohio — Scanning QR codes is something we’ve gotten used to doing without having to think twice. But because of a new scam, experts said you might want to use a little bit more caution. “A lot of these scams have just moved online and become technologically advanced,” said TrustedSec Advisory Solutions Director Alex Hamerstone. The community is on high alert after the Akron Police Department posted a message on Facebook Tuesday regarding a recent ‘brushing’ scam involving unexpected packages being sent to your home and QR codes located inside for you to find the sender. more at https://www.news5cleveland.com/news/local-news/beware-of-new-scam-involving-unsolicited-packages-qr-codes-inside and Scammers hide harmful links in QR codes to steal your information https://consumer.ftc.gov/consumer-alerts/2023/12/scammers-hide-harmful-links-qr-codes-steal-your-information

  6. ahem - the above is Dec. 19, 2023, 9:39 a.m. ET all we need now is for AOC to present a state approved facemask to (1) virtue signal your concern for covid and (2) this facemask has a microchip that counts your breaths and sends you a tax bill.
  7. FBI Director Chris Wray to resign at end of Biden term, clearing way for Trump pick CNN — FBI Director Chris Wray will resign at the end of the Biden administration, the agency said Wednesday, as it became clear he would be forced out by President-elect Donald Trump. Trump, who originally nominated Wray after firing the previous FBI director, previously announced he will nominate Kash Patel for the role, although Wray still had three years remaining on his 10-year term. Patel has been meeting with senators to build support for a confirmation vote next year. Wray had wrestled with whether or not to resign given Trump’s stated desire to replace him, sources say, and wants to facilitate an orderly transition. But some in the FBI worried his departure would normalize Trump’s penchant for replacing FBI directors he doesn’t like, as the position is supposed to straddle administrations and be insulated from politics. more at https://www.cnn.com/2024/12/11/politics/fbi-director-chris-wray-steps-down/index.html

  9. as ny is pretty much left leaning - where "tax the rich" and "healthcare is a human right" and "corporate profits are greed" is often heard - it should be interesting to find 12 jurors to try this case.....

  13. from the above link that is absolute tripe. one does not gain a clearance of that level due to time in the military - it's not a time in service award. it is painfully obvious that whoever at politico that wrote that has zero clue what they are talking about.

  19. that has long been an issue, covered in the book: "The Deporter: One Agent's Struggle Against the U.S. Government's Refusal to Expel Criminal Aliens" by Ames Holbrook it's well woth the read, and amazing how the bureaucracy within the usa is often our own worst enemy when it comes to removing illegals. those swept up give false names, false countries of citizenship, so it's a wild goose chase to figure out who they really are. even if the illegal gives correct information, the country can deny accepting them back and we're stuck with them. due to crowding and length of time the government can keep them, often these same illegals are released. the book cited above deals with new orleans - which is one reason new orleans has a crime problem. my answer - pay a country in an economically depressed country that can use manual labor to build roads to accept them at a hard labor prison until their country of origin takes them back. and if their home country does not want them, then it's cheaper to house them in a prison there. additionally, deny all visas from that country until said country cleans up their act and cut foreign aid to zero to any country that will not take back their citizens.
