I think this site is an excellent resource, I have learnt alot here. That being said, any online community is going to attract some "fighting" amongst some members. I only formally joined recently but I was coming here now and again to look up topics. I do think that spending too much time here can drive one a little bit crazy, especially because everyone's case is different and people get upset when comparing timelines and so on.

Regardless of your fiance being Nigerian, meeting in person is a requirement in your case. On a side note - I don't think it's a good idea to jump into a marriage without at least meeting in person once.

Saffer got a reaction from ditdot in Let's blow up the USCIS...on social media
USCIS is a JOKE. We all paid the same fees but due to luck some people get approved in a matter of weeks VS a matter of months. I honestly don't think that they care about us. We are just numbers in the system and the govt employees don't really give a continental. It is what it is - a government deparment. The fact that everything is done in paperwork and not online tells you how flawed the system is. The fact that mail takes months to move from one department to another is another indication of how ridiculous the system is.
I doubt anything will change soon because the people who handle the petitions and paperwork know that they are basically "untouchable" and immigrants are afraid of rocking the boat.

How will you handle other stressful situations during the marriage? Sounds like you two need to create some open communication channels or else.

I am a Nigerian and i will be honest with you, there is 70% chance that is not into you, just want to use u as a passage to America. I am just on F1 and a fellow country man scammed me into loving him and bringing him over. he dumped my ####### after 4 months. He may be honest be is very slim. make him pay for your trip to visit him and make sure you tell the whole world u are going to see him. Is a waiting game. My advice, pick your bag and run away form him.

Excuse me what? End of Jan to May 1 isn't fast to you!?!?? Even taking into consideration a mistake that you made (RFE?). Looking at your timeline, you were 9 weeks from NOA1 to your RFE. If you hadn't made a mistake in your petition, you'd have been 9 weeks from NOA1 to NOA2. TSC is averaging 30 weeks. 3.5 times longer. For the same fees and everything. And you think that 9 weeks "isn't fast". What do you think about 30?
No, it's not crazy "did they even read the file" 4 to 10 day turnover, but 9 weeks is WELL within what you were told to expect when you signed up. In fact, it's less than half the time you were told. And 30 weeks is 50% longer than we were told.
Holy heck, I only wish I could have such problems. Seriously,

    Q. I am a resident of Massachusetts. How do I obtain a firearms license?
    A. A license to carry (LTC) issued pursuant to G.L. c. 140, §131 or a firearms identification card (FID) issued pursuant to G.L. c. 140, §129B may be obtained from the police department where you reside or have a place of business (your licensing authority). Applications for a LTC or FID are available under "Firearms Forms and Applications".
A LTC Class A entitles the holder to possess a large capacity firearm (pistol or revolver), rifle or shotgun. (See G.L. c. 140, §121 for the definition of large capacity). A LTC Class B entitles the holder to possess a non-large capacity firearm or large capacity rifle or shotgun. A FID entitles the holder to possess non-large capacity rifles and shotguns.
There is a $100 application fee for a LTC or FID. As part of the application process, an applicant must submit fingerprints for a comprehensive background check and, if a new applicant, provide proof of completion of a basic firearm safety course pursuant to G.L. c. 140, §131P.

You can get an air rifle... LOL Paintball someone in the face or the nuts and it works pretty well IMHO..
Q: Is a license required to possess an air gun (i.e. bb or pellet guns, so-called air rifles or air pistols, paint ball guns) or ammunition therefore (i.e. bb's, pellets, CO2 cartridges, paint balls)?
A: An FID Card is not required to possess an air gun in Massachusetts.

    Google paintball bruises... lol

Coming from Africa where witch-craft is still practiced widely, I have heard just about every crazy thing there is to hear. These people believe it, just like we believe that the earth revolves around the sun. Personally I wouldn't want to be involved with someone whose beliefs are rooted in superstition and not science but that is entirely your choice to make.

Hey, what about Canada, we allow it and we speak English, list of nations!

But seriously. It says something pretty serious when one of the most notoriously Catholic Ireland can legalize human rights by popular vote and America, the land of the free, can't.

    Grow up, America.

    Oh, Wombat
I think you know the answer. This is codependency -- big time. You gotta break the cycle one way or the other.
With 10 - 15 years to retirement you are still a young chick, and can do better -- much better.

Hey look, I'm entitled to my opinion. This thread seems to be filled with bleeding hearts. "Think of the children!!!!" and so on... Fair enough, but don't expect me to grow a bleeding heart too.
I come from a country with a massive illegal immigrant problem. It is currently causing xenophobic violence and disrupting the economy on a large scale. Why bother having borders when no-one is going to enforce border controls and laws? Don't citizens come first in their own countries anymore?
What I'd like to see in the US is a clamp down on illegal immigration to the point where there will be very few children to use as an excuse to allow parents to break laws and expect sympathy from those who want to appear superior to me.
why don't you do something productive to find a solution ?
    I'll help build the wall.
