    As others have already pointed out your children (under 18) automatically becomes citizens when you became a citizen. All you need to do is get them a US passport.
    https://www.uscis.gov/us-citizenship/citizenship-through-parents

    Children of U.S. Citizens Residing in the United States
    Children who were born outside the U.S. but now live in the U.S. may acquire citizenship under Section 320 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). A child born outside of the United States automatically becomes a U.S. citizen when all of the following conditions have been met on or after Feb. 27, 2001:
    ·         The child has at least one parent, including an adoptive parent, who is a U.S. citizen by birth or through naturalization;
    ·         The child is under 18 years of age;
    ·         The child is a lawful permanent resident (LPR); and
    ·         The child is residing in the United States in the legal and physical custody of the U.S. citizen parent.

    Now, filing form N-600 is not really necessary but you have the money and also want additional document proving his citizenship, then go for it. If child is at least 14 years then they may be required to appear for an oath of allegiance ceremony just like 'naturalization' oath ceremony.

    Not around here, many more say don’t bother if apply for passport.

    Some of us prefer the n600 as it is a permanent retrievable record proving citizenship that you can find and get even if every other document in the evidence chain is lost or destroyed, perhaps particularly useful for later on in life (seen various posts of hassle proving citizenship when the only document has been a lost childhood passport, and other issues. Rare but still unsettling and it can be hard to gather all the required evidence again years later when parents have passed on etc.)
    The only downside of the n600 is cost.

    Well, of course both the n600 and passport are optional, but one or both is highly recommended as there is no other immediate proof of being a USC for a minor who has automatically naturalized.
    My child's passport took 7 weeks (pre covid but with an RFE) and her n600 took 3 months. Both filed November last year. I suspect the passport delays may be more pronounced than any n600 delays at the moment (it’s not my impression any uscis form processing has slowed down during covid, just the face to face stuff?)

    Passport application form lists what is required in his case. N600 if filed online will lead you through required evidence. Passport agency will require original certificate of citizenship for the mother & his green card , so suggest make photocopIt’s of those to upload if you decide to file n600 online.

    they only ask a few questions
    if she answers 1st set of 6 right,  that is all the CO will ask
    then she will be given an English sentence to write out
    and some questions pertaining to English language (American style)
    nothing to stress over if she has been studying the guides from USCIS as you say

    I agree as you said:  IO usually takes half full glass approach, they like your to pass citizen test and become a citizen , they know everybody has gone through a lot so far in their immigration journey  and they have all your information about you by now.

     and obviously as long as it is not done, it will be a nagging thought in applicants mind.

    Looking at timeline of JulieinMD, I was having doubts about what really happened compared to what was posted here.
    There has to be more detail on being rejected to enter at JFK. Something does not add up.

    It took our embassy 10 weeks to say they received all our info. The NVC sent it and delivery was confirmed 3 days later but embassy kept saying file has not arrived. The embassy process can be long and frustrating. It's best to stay on them have NVC trace you file and if you have a lawyer try and have him help by writing a letter or do it yourself. It will happen, hang in there.

    Get in touch with NVC ASAP. They will have your case number. If you just wait and don't do anything you will wait months. If you just wait for am embassy or consulate to contact you it may be even longer. Things have a way of stopping and getting lost if you are not constantly on top of your case.
