Got a notice from USCIS today that my wife's been approved for the ROC and the new greencard should be arriving in the mail within 60 days.

@starsky Another update for the tracker!

So the wife just did her biometrics today (Milwaukee Service Center), here's some updates/notes on the facility from our visit:

Only the person the appointment was for (my wife) was allowed in, I had to wait outside. This was a little different from when she did her biometrics during her AOS/EAD process, as I was allowed in with her. The above kind of makes sense, because the place was absolutely packed with people (last time it was pretty empty). The letter says "no phones", but according to my wife, people had them, they just had to not be in use and on silent. Her appointment was at 11am, we showed up at 10:!5am hoping to get in early, and we were in luck. She waited for about 50 minutes DMV-style (grab a number and wait your turn) before getting her biometrics taken. So it's not like she had to wait until her exact appointment time to "get in line", but I'm guessing this may vary on a case to case basis. With the above being said, they do not support walk-in appointments anymore (I believe that was an USCIS-wide update mentioned pages back in this thread). There was a lady that came in a day early and they turned her away. At the time of my wife's visit, there didn't appear to be any Spanish translator there (there was a hispanic man there who spoke 0% English and nobody was able to talk to him really). Not sure if that's relevant, just figured I'd mention in case it helps someone down the road. The actual biometrics part took like 5 minutes. That specific service center is all street parking, with none in front of the building. Luckily the other 3 sides have 3 hour parking, but that area has lots and lots of parking (both paid and 2/3 hour) within blocks of the facility. My wife's inhaler in her purse caught security off-guard, just because when it runs through the machine it looks like an aerosol container (which you could imagine the security risk of that). Everything was fine, just figured I'd mention that in case anyone gets nervous during processed like that (like I do) and just want to go through as smoothly as possible.

Just an update for all, we called because we haven't received her GC. But it turns out we had the wrong receipt $ (off by one fo one of the digits), so after that, we are still in no-man's land, meaning our only update is "Case was Received", and we got the 18 month extension. No info on biometircs or any of that fun stuff.

This morning, we got an email saying our case has been updated. When I tried to log in, the site wouldn't work (my guess was lots of people had updates and rushed to the site to check), so I waited until I got home and it says that the new status is "New Card Is Being Produced". Not 100% sure what that means, hoping that means we're approved? If that's the case, I hope everyone else gets there too!

Yup, forgot to mentioned we are a CSC filer. It's just a little odd because we haven't really heard anything since we field. No biometrics, or notice that they are re-using, no interview. Only thing we ever got was the 18 month extension.

Thanks everybody and I hope things pick up for all of you!

Our apologies for not seeing this sooner, but I think we just called the usual number, which is 1-800-375-5283 and made sure whoever was on the other end understood exactly what I was asking, reiterating multiple times, etc. It may make me sound like a jerk, but this stuff is serious business and it's amazing how frustrating/discomforting some of the various workers were that we've had to deal with along the way (DMV, SSA, etc.). We didn't do the "tier 2 representative" thing that lots of people say they have had success with, just a regular call to that number and going through the menu. I'm not sure if I've ever done the "push random buttons until it takes you to a representative rather than go through the menu" thing with USCIS, but that's always worth a shot if the calling process is as frustrating/annoying to you as it is to me sometimes, haha.

We just received another official (green paper) copy of the 18 month extension letter, about a week after we received the first one (which I believe was from us calling them telling them we hadn't received one by then).

So just a minor update / frustrating experience. We finally got the actual 18 month extension letter, after having just the "courtesy copy" for about 2 months.

About 2 weeks ago Danielle called USCIS to bring up how she had only received the "courtesy copy" and had yet to receive the actual copy, and she also brought up the fact that we have heard absolutely nothing in regards to biometrics whatsoever (no appointment letter nor a notice saying they will reuse the old ones). For the biometrics thing, they looked into her case and said the usual "processing times are taking longer, so you may not receive one at all, but our records show that you haven't been scheduled for one so you haven't missed anything", so that was good.

As for not receiving the actual 18 month extension letter, Danielle was told that "oh since you have a receipt number, I can't tell you anything about your case", and the representative ended the call. This made absolutely no sense considering they just told her something about her case in regards to biometrics. Anyway, when I got home from work I had Danielle call them again, and then give them permission to talk to me (since they won't talk to anyone but the applicant unless the applicant is present) and I told this representative about Danielle's previous call and what that representative said and they were completely dumbfounded and said "that doesn't make any sense, why would they say that to you?", and then she proceeded to look into our case, and put in an inquiry about us not receiving the 18 month extension letter, just the "courtesy copy", and gave us a reference number for when they give us an update on this inquiry, so we were relieved after speaking with that representative.

So then after a few days, we get the standard email from USCIS after they put in an inquiry and they update it. It contains a summary of why you called and the action they were taking. I was a little concerned, because in that summary it sounded like we said we hadn't received any notice whatsoever after sending in the I-751, and nothing about the 18 month extension was mentioned in the summary, which was frustrating because I was on the phone with the representative as she was typing it and she was reading it out loud to me as she typed it.

So we were getting ready to call USCIS yet again this past week to discuss this because we want to make sure they are looking into the right thing, but we lost track of time the one day during the week where Danielle and I have free time during their hours of operation. Then yesterday in the mail, we got the actual copy of the 18 month extension letter!

So I guess the takeaway from this here, and it falls in line with some other posts I've read, is that if you've only just received the "courtesy copy" of the 18 month extension letter, and it'd been more than 30 days, then it's probably best to call them and get them to look into it. No idea why this is the case, but then again, this whole process is anything but convenient. Good luck everyone!

So we filed at CSC, haven't heard anything back regarding biometrics. We've called the number to ensure nothing was lost and got the "we are processing your case" lines a couple times. Haven't gotten any updates online either. Should we call again? I always read and am advised to request a "tier 2" person, but whenever we call they kind of just push your through, take your information, etc., then end the call.

Hello all, long time no post! I apologize in advance if this isn't in the correct spot, as it's been a while.

My wife and I are nearing up on that time again during this whole process, and hoping to get any help, pointers, clarification, etc. that anyone has.

My wife came her on a K1 visa from Canada. We got married, filed the AOS, got her GC approval in May 2016. So that "90 day period" will begin in early February. During the AOS status, all we had to do was take her in for her Biometrics, as we did not have to attend an interview. We we'ren't even notified of a waive of interview, we were just approved 7 months after her Biometrics appointment.

Aside from filing the I-751 form, and the accompanying fees, is there anything else we should consider? Any additional forms? Do we need anything for the EAD aspect of her immigration status (I believe her "GC is her EAD", but I don't want to assume that it's automatically included).

What type of "evidence" are we required to submit? What else should we include in addition? We got married here in the US, and were proactive in getting multiple certified copies of our Marriage Certificate. I'm just kind of nervous because my wife and I don't really take many trips, and I see that as evidence in a lot of threads. We've taken some trips here and there, but outside of trip itineraries (in my name, not her's) from the site where we booked the hotels, we really just have random pictures of ourselves we've taken on our trips. Just not sure if that would be pointless to include. Would it help to have a letter from family member or friends (similar to what we submitted with the K-1 visa application - "intent to marry")?

We have a lease to our home in both our names. In fact, we recently moved this past year (and did the online update for her GC accordingly), so we have multiple lease copies with both our names on it. We do have a shared account through our credit union, but not sure what documents I can have them provide me. Looking at online statements, it does list her as a joint owner. My only concern with that is within the last few months, she did open her account to have a little independence as well as start work on building a credit score of her own (because as an immigrant, she had no score). We also have the utility bill in both our names, but that can be a little trick to locate (Wisconsin Public Service), as it's paperless, and usually they just put her name in the bottom corner, but just looking now at our most recent bill, I'm just seeing my name on it. I do see both our names when I log into my renter's insurance, so would that be a good one to provide as well? Same thing when I log into our health insurance. Just don't know how helpful those documents are.
After filing, what do we do? Like is she allowed to travel back to Canada while this process is in limbo? I mean technically her GC will expire in May 2018, which so does her EAD, so I am a little concern with that aspect (though I'm guessing while the process is in motion, we're good).

    Thanks in advance!

That does sound easy, thanks! I'm surprised they don't ask for any proof or anything. This seems easier than the DMV, but to be fair, most things are.

    Phew, that was nerveracking.
When to the SSA office nearby (a 25 minute drive) to get Danielle her SSN as everyone recommends before the I-94 expires (we have until 10/17/2015, so plenty of that). So you guys were right, can't apply for her card with her married name, because "that's not what is in the INS databases", even though I mentioned I called them 3 times, talked to 3 different representatives, and all said it was doable. Either way, good thing I brought an application with married name and maiden name.
Ok, even so, the lady at the desk (who was a total grump and grouch, just like nearly every other person I've seen in a building like that), heard us say "K-1 Visa" and immediately shook her head and said it wouldn't work unless we had our EAD. I mentioned that's not the case, I've read and have been told otherwise by people in the same department, etc. She was so dang determined to just say it wouldn't work and Danielle wasn't allowed to get one. She reluctantly said "well I can try entering her but it won't work, I'm telling you". So after about 5 minutes after her keying in the form data, surprise surprise, no problem. She just said like "It's only valid until October 17th" which is the I-94 expiration date, and I said that's fine because we are filing for EAD tomorrow and she just re-iterated once we get that we can change Danielle's card to her married name.
Now did we do everything right? Judging by the way this lady talked, it really felt like we were doing something we weren't supposed to and like we were a-holes, but then again, it seems like most of the people who work in those types of buildings seem to have a piss-poor attitude. I wasn't rude at all except when she just shook her head and assumed things wouldn't worked, and I just kept pointing out how I called their department and asked 3 times beforehand, and then she "tried" and it worked. Once she was proven wrong, she was a person of very few words.
I swear, I get such horrible anxiety going to places like this because we put so much importantance of our lives in the hands of people who seem to have a bad attitude like that.

I pray that I don't have to go through what you did, but I'm sure the 53 days are all a blur now.
