Dude, that sucks but don't give up so soon. Many non-Western cultures have different views on finances and even within a culture, family finances are a top reason for conflict.
Therefore, if the person is "worldly" as you mentioned then there's always room for compromise and you could both use education on each other's customs.

From what you describe, it sounds like your ex wife entered into the marriage for the sole purpose of acquiring a green card. Not sure how she will manage removal of conditions.
For you to file another 130, certainly the question on the first one will come up but unless USCIS has proof of fraud, you won't face more than tough questioning.
You sound very forgiving by not withdrawing your affidavit of support. It's what I would have done but I'm sure it stings nonetheless.

Heh. I was about to post an April thread but you beat me to it.
My window of eligibility to file the N-400 opened yesterday (3/28). I'm filing under the 3-year rule (marriage to US citizen).
I'm also mailing the package tomorrow with USPS for an April 1st. delivery as well (foolishly hoping the date will bring good luck.)

With that said, OP, while you typically have nothing much to worry about, USCIS views all immigrants with a bit if suspicion simply because of the value of the benefits they're seeking. If you add any wrinkles to your case, you should expect a level of scrutiny commensurate with the complexity of your case. And if there's ever any suspicion of fraud, well, buckle up coz it may be a turbulent ride.
Still, this is a nation of laws and USCIS does not operate outside of the law. You will be given every opportunity to explain any suspicious or ambiguous matters. And at the end, a tiny minority of cases are fraudulent or suspected of fraud.
Tell your story as it happened and you'll be fine.

Well I just got back from my 3pm biometrics appointment at the Hwy 6 location and it was a ninety minute wait. Grrrr. About 30 people already seated and 20 people in a queue when I got there. And ALL of them with 3pm appointment. Pfffffff.

The huge tables are not bad. Sometimes there are 3 or 4 in a row on one page. Scrolling past them is the only exercise my index finger gets all day.

It's erroneous to compare America to any of the regions or countries you listed in terms of quality of life. The U.N. (headquartered in New York City ) may put out any annual surveys it wants but the fact of the matter of is, all the people in the countries you listed can fit in California. A country of 5 million cannot be compared to one of 300+ million.
If you like comparisons, the U.S. is effectively made up of 50 countries and should, for more accurate comparison, be compared to the E.U., for example (look how well that is working out ). It has rich states and poor states, beautiful states and bland states. I hope you're catching my drift.
The decision to live here can be undertaken for many reasons but America is truly unique (not exceptional) in our world. The ingredients that make up this union and how it manages to move forward despite all its shortcomings is a sight to behold.

The irony, which was lost on him, is that he was in the exact same boat only a few years earlier.
Fortunately, America is far more forgiving than he is and its citizenship means a lot. It is also far from perfect but one of the few places on this planet where you can be just about anything you want to be.
So start a radio station my friend and speak your favorite language over the airwaves while carrying your licensed concealed weapon. America lets you do that.

I'm not sure where you read that a birth certificate is required.
In any case, the from N-400 instructions indicate:
"Unless it is specifically required that an original document be filed with your application, a legible photocopy may be submitted. Original documents submitted when not required may remain a part of the record and will not be automatically returned to you."
