First off, the TSC fairy is legit. She is great. I would have been lost without her.
Second, it is with both happiness and sadness that I get to write this post. At 6:31 tonight, while grocery shopping, I received the email stating that my application was approved today. I didn't know what to do. I stood there shaking and sobbing while people stared and asked if I was okay. The text alert came about half an hour after that. So a bit delayed.
I will continue to send good wishes your way for all of you still waiting. It's coming. I had lost all hope, and it happened.

So less than 2 weeks without a cancellation, Allie? How exciting! It is so nice to see progress. I hope you do manage to get a sooner day though.
April, my birth certificate doesn't have their birthdays on it. But we didn't send mine regardless, only Larry's, since he is the petitioner. It will be an easy one if we get it, I just really want to avoid the delay. I like to believe that we have all waited long enough. Lol. How are things with you and Daniel's process going? You must be getting close as well.

Well, I don't speak Spanish unfortunately, so I guess I may get someone rude. Lol. It's a relief to know that I will be able to call. I was a little stressed that we would never get through because of our schedules. Now I just need that NOA2 notification...
Any idea when you guys get your interview, Allie? You must be beyond excited.

True, but still no excuse for people acting like jerks. Telling you to hang yourself? That's repulsive!
And to the poster above talking about being reported for responding civilly to a rude commenter, that's quite obnoxious, too!
Can't blame all the mods, though. They all have lives outside of VJ and have to keep up with a lotttt of nonsense (we all see it everyday hahaha). I especially appreciate having TBone! It's great to have a moderator repping your consulate who has gone through the whole process already!
In sum, I think most of us appreciate having a forum like this to relate to others but also would prefer that people be mindful of the way in which they are responding to others.. And also whether it's necessary to post in certain threads at all because maybe our post isn't as helpful as we'd like it to be. That helps keep our community a much nicer and safer place. (But of course, an occasional blocking/reporting will inevitably, like the previous comment says, sometimes be necessary.)
My fiancé and I, too, have met and developed relationships with people from VJ. There are a lot of really great members on here.

Just my rant on this- Sometimes people are just plain nasty. There's no excuse for it, and it bothers me to see. No need to sugarcoat, but there's also no reason to be rude to people over the internet. That's what I find irritating about this site. Even when you're nice, you get people replying snidely to your comments. So I feel you! I was definitely more excited here until I noticed that people's tones starting changing. I get being angry about the waiting and the whole process, but don't take it out on other people. Otherwise, yes, there's good and bad to everything, of course.
I do very much appreciate the people who have been genuine and helpful (like a lot of people who posted on this thread!) I just hope anyone reading this thread will realize to not take their anger for the process out on other people (I know, easier said than done- I've taken it out on people I love a lot, so strangers are easier, I'm sure). Otherwise they need to take their judgments and arrogant remarks elsewhere!
Thanks for giving us a thread to let our thoughts out, LOL!

People who attack others, who are rude and give unsolicited advice and opinions think that hiding behind a computer screen excuses them from being rational, empathetic, caring individuals. It drives me insane when someone comes her asking for help and the thread gets totally derailed and turns into a battle of wills. I will admit that I do come here to read some of the more dramatic threads, there is something about reading other people's drama that makes my life seem so much more normal

Id like to say being somewhat of newer member that the same questions have been getting asked and answered for many many yearsIve seen it by just Googling a question and find the answer dated back to 2007 from a previous VJ member. But one thing I have noticed is that since I have been on here asking questions, that my post get moved from here to there all the time. It gets pretty frustrating as there is no clear direction on where to post what. I saw K1/I129 forums and being that is the application I filed. I post there then a moderator comes along and moves the thread saying it doesn't apply to the section of the forum. Well heck. where are the blueprints or directions of where to post what there's no navigation page and its sorta hit and miss until you get moved all over the place. pretty frustrating. If people are getting frustrated and don't want to help the newcomers or forget that the position we as newcomers are in now, you once were but feel superior or feel like " that's a stupid question" or "that was just answered below" I think a little patience and understanding would be a good place to start instead of being rude and uncaring. Some of the senior members are helpful while others seem impatient and rude. I cant say directly if there is a bias toward one group or the next but if you become impatient or frustrated by someone who is anxious and scared and just want to know how fast they will be with their significant other then there are more issues with the people on here then I thought. Noone should be singled out or made to feel like they are dumb for asking a previously asked question. for those who know and are willing to help.. answer.. those who know and are tired..then don't answer and if it were me preferably don't comment at all especially negatively. I thought ..great a place where others can relate but lately a lot of you are judge and jury and give some of us no hope or positivity. Not saying to sugar coat situations but at least remember from whence you came. I would hate to think race and ethnicity is playing a factor on this site I deal with enough of that in the real world.

Hi guys! Didn't know this existed I thought if there was one myself!
Thank you April & yuna for helping me realize I had the wrong link, hahaha. We wasted 4 days by not doing the ds160 form. UGH!
We started calling NVC a week in, knowing it typically takes 2 weeks to get there. We called a few times (best times to call are 6:59am & 11pm ET) and it got there about 2 weeks after NOA2. We didn't get a notification (via mail) until this week, so it definitely comes later. We kept calling to see if it got there and then to find out when it was sent over to Ecuador. The same day it got to NVC they assigned us a case number, then 2 days later it was off to Ecuador! It got there within a day and the CEAC website told me it was ready for interview. Before that, it hadn't told me it left yet, and I was checking for days! Then all of a sudden it said ready for interview.
We already had all of our documents together and ready- affidavit of support, copy of application, extra evidences (& continued evidence), etc. We just filled out the ds-160 today and have those confirmation pages printed, too.
Medical is scheduled for tomorrow, and we're calling tomorrow to see if they can get us an interview for next week. So excited to have this be over with!!
Hope everyone's post- NOA2s go well! And congrats to new NOA2ers!!!

Omg, you've got to be kidding. We waited days for this?! I'm gonna kick myself later. We were given the wrong page apparently. We followed the instructions on the travel doc website and on the embassy page and got the wrong thing. I'm gonna scream.
So glad I said something. Thank you guys! You just made my day hahaha. We're going to do this later and hopefully now it works.

I can't quote everyone from my phone so.. Thank you walrusbaby! I hope so, too!
Congrats to RFEs and updates! That's a good thing!!
Though we're usually looking through together, I'm the Allie of the Santy and Allie, LOL! But yes, unfortunately. We're stuck because we NEED the ds160 form completed online in order to get an interview. The embassy has their hands tied. They'd give us the interview, but they need confirmation from the ds160- the one thing NVC is in charge of. Had we known, we'd have done it sooner. No one informed us it needed to be done, so we found out and went to do it on Tuesday, and they told us it's down. As in, what walrusbaby says- it doesn't recognize our case numbers probably because it's overloaded. Therefore we can't access the form. It's completely delaying our interview and medical. and all NVC keeps doing is making more excuses. It's beyond frustrating at this point of the game. We shouldn't have to wait longer after waiting half a year for a noa2.

More than angry at NVC right now. After all the ####### with TSC I didn't expect to be so screwed over by NVC -.- they're majorly delaying everyone right now with their stupid technical issues. Talk about NVC being nice.. Yeah, not anymore. Now they're probably mad they're getting these calls. I hope they get a million calls about it today and everyday until they fix it. I'm so irritated about this. We could've already had an interview by now!

OP, All of us are supportive in our own ways.
Some of us try to steer you away from further heartaches since you sounded so distraught on your initial post.
Others show their support by showing you it is possible.
What you can take from this is that you have to be prepared emotionally and mentally. You are going into this knowing right off the bat that your chances are low. Hope for the best, but expect the worst. Luckily for you, "the worst" isn't all that bad. You have nothing to lose by trying for the tourist visa. It doesn't even affect the K1 application.
We all wish you luck. I sincerely hope you get it. Keep us updated ok?

So happy to hear all went well. It was 100% worth for us as well. I love hearing about all these happy stories. Plenty of not so happy one's all over also. I will be following you and so sorry you had to go through TCS. I would gladly trade with any of them that had to wait so long when it was just luck for me to get CSC. I feel the pain from the TCS watching and seeing one's like me fly right threw so fast.

I agree with you. I did not use a lawyer or I am sure I would had been told the same as you. And I never have told her she is going to get one. I said the odds are low. I just wanted her to know it is possible and will not effect her K1 visa:) And I never gave a false hope to her. I just said you do have hope. Just don't have your hopes up to high. And thanks for your positive opinion:)

Both are receipt notices (notification of acceptance). Think of it this way: NOA1 is the acceptance of your application by USCIS, while NOA2 is the actual approval of your application by USCIS.

There has to be a lot more to your story. If your father's arrest was a "misunderstanding" and it wasn't domestic violence then why didn't your mother defend him?
From what I understand, your dad has been in the US illegally for 15 years and he was 4 years in jail for domestic violence. He abused the immigration system and he was in jail. Letting a person like him stay would be a slap in the face to all the legal immigrants who came here following the immigration law to the letter. You are an adult. You can get a job and support your mom.

Giving hope is as cool as setting realistic expectations. She said she wanted to hear opinions so it was given to her. People said its a slim chance but doesn't hurt to go for it anyway. She said money is not an issue, so go for it then. Keep us updated will ya?
